Chapter 27: Blood Battle
Since I am off all this week from school, I will attempt to be writing one chapter a day so hope this goes well.
Alex sat on his bed still pondering on whether or not he should really do this.
It was sunset and a few hours had passed since him and Akari had that confrontation at the kitchen table.
Through those hours Akari had never left her room and wouldn't let anyone in.
Not even her own guardian Yae was allowed to see her.
It was clear to Alex how much this emotionally effected and hurt his own mother.
She really did have a point.
So what if Alex now knows that he has a big sister than he never knew existed for 13 years?
He stil didn't know anything about why she isn't around anymore or why Akari kept her a secret for so long.
Alex knew that if he wanted answers that it be best to meet up with his cloaked big sister to get the full picture.
Yet here he was, with her number on his phone still struggling to call or send her a message.
Did he really deserve a chance to understand everything after he has basically emotionally shut down Akari?
He wasn't given time to think it out as graciously the girl had sent him a message saying, "Midnight. Same Place. Don't be late."
Alex saw this and sighed knowing now that there was no turning back.
Since it was sunset Alex felt like he could nap a few hours away until it was near midnight.
With that Alex laid down and took his nap, mentally preparing himself for later on.
[TimeSkip: Midnight]
After his nap, Alex had immediately walked over to the location of the meet up with a clear mind.
Soon he eventually made it to the place and now waited.
He only had to wait for a few minutes as very quickly his cloaked big sister had arrived and approached him.
"And once again your on time. I appreciate your willingness." She said.
Alex didn't immediately respond and just looked at the girl he now knew was his blood sibling.
"Hey kid. Ya there?" Said the girl as she waved her hand in front of him.
That led to Alex grabbing her wrist.
"Enough of the bullshit. Might as well remove your cloak, big sis." Said Alex.
The girl was immediately caught off guard and gasped at how he suddenly knew the truth one day later.
"Very well. As you wish little brother." Said the girl as she stepped back.
She unclipped the button holding the cloak together as it fell to the ground as Alex got his first look of his big sister
The black hair.
The red eyes.
Alex saw both of those and immediately felt a sense of familiarity looking at her.
"Remember when we first met, how I said I was hoping to reveal myself at the most opportune time? Well, thankfully that time came sooner rather than later." Said the girl as she had a smile.
Alex could tell that she was genuinely happy about this moment.
That made him feel more guilty about what he was about to do.
"Ah my apologies. I forgot to say my name. Nice to see you again little brother. I'm your big sister, Akame Satsuki." She said.
Akame walked foward, wanting to give Alex a hug.
Now that he knew the truth, Akame was hoping that he'd be willing to accept her into his life.
Unfortunately, Alex suddenly had transmuted a sword and held Akame away, the tip of his sword pointed at her neck.
Akame was shocked at this.
"You honeslty thought I'd just let this slide? I have questions I want answered." Said Alex.
He should've expected her to retaliate but he didn't.
Akame backed away from his blade before sighing.
"Listen. I don't want to fight you. Just put your blade down. I'll gladly answer your questions." Said Akame trying to calm the situation down.
Alex wouldn't budge.
He knew it be better to just calmly talk this out but his pent up emotion from earlier just wouldn't let him.
"I don't wanna waste time here. I just wanna get home. So just answer them now." He said a little aggressively.
He definitely wasn't helping his situation with how aggressive he was being.
This was only getting Akame more and more irritated as she grew annoyed at Alex's stubbornness to calm down.
"Alex. Please. But your weapon dow-."
The glass had shattered as Alex charged foward and went for a slash on Akame as she easily moved out of the way.
"I see. Very well then. If that's how it goes then so be it." Said Akame as she slowly drew out her sword as well.
The two stared each other down for a bit before the two dashed at one another and began to trade sword swings back and forth.
The two could tell they were evenly matched as they were trading blow for blow and were parrying each other's attacks.
Alex attempted to gain a break as he snapped his fingers causing fire to suddenly appear and burst between them as the two jumped back.
This gave Alex to recollect himself and get his thoughts straight.
Or at least he thought he could as the sudden break didn't faze Akame as she immediately dashed ahead and barely managed to get a cut on Alex's cheek as he moved out of the way just a second too late.
"That sudden fire was only gonna stop the slow of battle for merely a second yet you thought it last longer." Said Akame as she stared him down.
Alex looked back at her but then suddenly felt his cut give out a searing pain that hurt more than normal, as well as suddenly feeling his body get weak as he went onto one knee and barely stopped himself from barfing.
'W-What the hell, is happening?' He thought to himself as shortly afterwards Truth gave him the answer.
"Kid I don't know how but your suddenly poisoned." He said as Alex was shocked.
Akame saw his expression and knew he had realized what had happened.
"I see you've fallen under the effects. My blade Murasame is known as the One Cut Killer. When taking a slash from this sword, the person would be instantly killed from a poison curse that would spread throughout the body and would kill within seconds by stopping the victim's heart." She said.
Alex reacted to this with shock. 'Oh shit. That means I'm gonna die right no-.' Thought Alex though he couldn't finish his thought as Akame continued on.
"Well, that's what would happen. Your in luck. At peak condition that's what would happen. Over the years Murasame had gradually weakened over time. Now the severity of the poisonous curse depends on how deep of a cut I give. So what your feeling now is less than half of what the poison can do if I gave a full slash." She said.
Alex struggled to get up but then realized he was closer to the ground by kneeling.
So in an instant he clapped his hands and transmuted the ground as Akame had reacted to late as she had been smacked into a tree by the ground.
'If just one cut can poison me this much, then I gotta avoid getting more.' He thought to himself.
Alex tossed his sword away and for the 2nd time transmuted the buster sword into his possession.
He awaited for an attack which came quickly as Akame charged at him but thanks to the massive width and size of the sword Alex was easily able to block and defend all the attacks and smacked Akame away with the blunt side of the blade and Alex immediately followed that with a snap of his fingers as flames bursted at Akame as she engulfed in fire but only for a few seconds as she managed to put it away quickly.
The two continued to clash back and forth but no matter how hard she tried she just couldn't get another slash in as Alex now gor the upper hand as he ended this confrontation by parrying her attack and then punching her in the face knocking her back.
Alex took this moment to catch his breathe and recollect his thoughts again as he saw Akame slowly stand up.
Akame stared him down for a bit before holding her blade and aiming it at her neck.
"H-Hey wait a minute!" Said Alex thinking Akame was about to end herself.
Akame ended up cutting herself though lightly as she had a plan.
Alex stood there and saw Akame slowly stand up, markings spreading across her body and her eyes now different
"W-What the hell?" Said Alex.
Akame charged at suddenly at a blistering pace as Alex could barely react in time as he had struggled to block all of her swings until Akame kicked him away sending him back.
Alex immediately regained his footing however and charged at Akame as the two clashed again.
Shockingly Akame's strength had increased as she managed to quite literally knock the massive buster sword out of his hands.
Akame tried to get another cut on him but Alex, thanks to his quick wit, was able to duck and avoid every slash while being unarmed and punched Akame away again.
He was only given a few seconds to transmute another sword again as Akame ran at him again.
The two now were just trading blows back and forth as both got multiple cuts on each other with Alex getting the worst of it as the more cuts he got the more it add to the poison's severity.
At this point Alex needed to end the fight and if he had to kill to end it then so be it.
Alex kicked some dust up into Akame's face blinding her a bit.
'Now!'
Alex got ready as he aimed his sword and with all his strength swung his sword sideways to get a fatal slash across her throat, however, just before the slash landed, someone had arrived just on time.
"Alex! Akame! Stop!"
The blade just stopped inches away from Akame's neck as the two looked to the side to see Akari suddenly there.
"Mom?/Mom." Said both Alex and Akame. Alex with shock while Akame with calmness.
Akari approached the two and made them drop their weapons as she hugged both of them.
"Please stop. Alex. Stop. Me and Akame will explain everything. Let's just, go home first." She said.
[TimeSkip]
Back at the apartment, the tree were sitting at the kitchen table after getting Alex and Akame patched up after their fight.
"I'll start first." Said Akame. "I was born 6 years before you Alex. Life was good with mom and father. Then suddenly father started getting a little abusive. Then 6 year pass and you were born. I was able to be there in the photo of your birth, though, it ended up being the only photo we'd have together." She said as Akari resumed the talk.
"That night you were born, something happened back at home. Your father had a horrible abuse episode that scared your sister so much that she ran away which your father felt no remorse for. Growing up, when you hated your father, I just couldn't tell you about Akame fearing you would've done something irrational at a young age." She said.
Alex took both their explanations and kept quiet for a bit before finally speaking.
"I see. So, big sis ran away cause of father, and mom being fearful that I would've put myself in danger if I knew, never told me to keep me safe." He said as Akame and Akari both nodded.
Alex sighed.
"I'm sorry for acting up." He said.
"It's perfectly reasonable Alex. I'm just glad I got there in time." Said Akari as she got up.
"Why don't you two stay up and watch some movies in the living room to hopefully get along? I'm gonna go sleep already. It's been a long day." Said Akari as she left to her room and slept, hoping that it would work.
[That Morning]
Akari yawned and woke up.
After stretching for a bit she got off her bed and left her room to go make breakfast.
As she made it to the living room she saw the siblings still sitting on the couch with the tv on.
"Geez. I didn't think you two actually stayed up the entire night." She said as she went and turned off the television.
She then turned around to see a sight that tugged at her heartstrings.
On the couch, were Alex and Akame, brother and sister, siblings who had just fought the day prior, were sleeping together on the couch, with Alex's head resting on Akame's shoulder and Akame with arm wrapped around him.
Akari looked at the sight in front of her for a bit before smiling fondly.
"We're all finally reunited."
