Chapter 7: Immortal Action
Ridgedog's POV
Still waiting.
It felt like years had gone past in which I was just sat there.
Still waiting.
She was still, calm, silent, as cold as a statue. My eyes were glued to her-I barely blinked. I didn't want to miss the moment when her eyes finally flutter open and she finally moves.
"Ridge..." Cisco murmurs-he had been here for a while, watching me watch over her. I had been aware of his presence but had barely acknowledged it.
"What" I reply flatly, my voice devoid of any emotion whatsoever.
"You need to go have a rest Ridge. Go have a shower, go eat, just...do something" he insists, and I shake my head, reaching out and taking her hand, still stiff. Still cold.
"Tia won't want to wake up to you like this Ridge. What would she say? She'd say go rest." Cisco sighs, laying something aside-probably a clipboard.
"You don't know her like I do" I try to snap, but it sounds half hearted and I knew he was right. But I didn't want to miss it.
I missed her.
"She won't be going anywhere. Just have a ten minute shower Ridge. Relax" Cisco urges me.
Shutting my eyes, I look down and nod. The people needed their king, I suppose.
But they need their queen too. And I needed my queen more than anyone.
Standing up, the chair grates against the floor as I slowly lumber out, heading towards the showers. I pass Deamon on the way who looks up hopefully.
"Any sign?" he asks, following me as I walk down the corridor.
"No" I sigh, looking wistfully at the door.
"She'll come back, don't worry" he urges me, a smile on his face but it's forced. Cisco said she would wake up in a few days. And that was a few days ago.
"Gonna go take a shower" I mumble, stumbling past him.
"Good. You...kinda smell like a dog" Deamon grins sheepishly, and I roll my eyes, opening the door.
Discarding my clothes on the floor, realizing just how dirty I actually was, I turn on the warm water and it shoots out of the shower head, running over my skin. I sigh, leaning my head against the wall and stretch my muscles. I'd been just as still as Tia these past few days and my back ached from being in the same position.
As the water cascades over my body, I shut my eyes, relaxing. I stay like that for a good fifteen minutes.
Someone begins to shout in alarm, and footsteps thunder past in the corridor. My eyes flash open and I frown, reaching up and turning the water off. What was going on?
Intrigued and feeling too warm, I step out of the shower stall and towel myself quickly dry before waving my hands over my clothes. They disappear and new ones appear on my body and I smirk, brushing them down. Oh, the wonders a good shower and clean clothes could do to you.
Remembering the people running past, I exit the shower room and follow where the noise was.
"We need him hooked up on this machinery now. Do it now!" Cisco's voice drifts into my ears.
"It's too late...he's gone already isn't he?" Sky's whispers loudly.
"No! There's still time!" Cisco shouts.
"It's not going to work! It's not!" Sky yells.
"He'll make it! I know he will!" Liam snaps back.
Bursting through the door, I spot someone on the other table next to Tia, crowded by Cisco, Liam and Sky.
"What's going on?" I shout over them before I see Mitch on the table, blood all over his chest and my eyes widen in surprise.
"Mitch got stabbed and Jerome got loose somehow" Cisco spits out, quickly shoving a breathing mask onto Mitch's face.
"Mitch, I love you! Please don't leave me!" Liam whispers, holding Mitch's limp hand to his face as tears run down his cheeks.
"Everyone out! Ridge, take Tia out of here as well, I don't need her waking up in the middle of this" Cisco orders me. I almost find the time to snap back that I was the king, and he should be following MY orders, but I don't argue. Spinning round, I gently scoop my queen into my arms and cart her into the corridor, watching Sky and Liam sit outside, Liam looking so worried I was anxious he might have a panic attack. But I needed to get Tia somewhere safe to rest, so I flew up to the top of the castle through an open window and landed in our bedroom through the balcony.
Ana glances up, Pansy on her lap who grins at my entrance.
"Ridgedoggy, you saved me!" she grins, but then notices Tia in my arms and her face drops.
"What's wrong Ridge?" Ana asks calmly, Pansy sat on her lap and the little girl attempts to wriggle free to go to Tia, though Ana keeps her clasped tightly to her.
"Mitch got stabbed by Jerome who's out loose somewhere. I had to move Tia from the medic room thing so Cisco could help him" I say simply, gently placing Tia on the sofa and smoothing her hair down. She didn't move during all this, and it was starting to bug me.
"I should go down there. Help heal him" Ana says quickly, ushering Pansy out of the door, before quietly shutting it behind her as she leaves.
Burrowing my face into her neck, I shut my eyes, concentrating on her shallow breathing.
"Come on Tia" I whisper, shaking her slightly. "Wake up."
Deamon walks in, watching me silently, sitting down opposite in the armchair. I don't look up at him, so he sits patiently and stares at her.
We wait.
Cisco's POV
Rapidly flying round the room and picking up various equipment, I glance back over at Mitch. His breahting was getting slower and I knew I was running out of time.
Gently, I tug his top off to reveal the large, gaping wound right over his heart and I hesitate. It was in his heart...would I still be able to save him?
Blood was still spurting out of the wound, so I quickly grab a small towel and wipe some of the blood away so I can see the flesh wound. Despite me giving orders...
I'd never even attempted to be a doctor before. Heck, I'd never even put a plaster on!
Ana quietly comes in, breezing over to the body, her eyes grimacing in concern.
"Help me heal him in Ana" I urge, panting.
She looks up at me, knowing that I don't know what I'm doing and smiles warmly.
Placing her hands on his arms, they begin to glow, and most of the blood disappears or goes back into the wound.
But it didn't heal.
Her eyebrows furrow. "I can't, Cisco, my powers only go as far as this."
Staring numbly at the body, I swallow, looking around for something, anything that could save him. Then I realize it.
"Oh" I gasp, a small smile on my face.
"What? Ana snaps, getting worried now.
"Tie his hands and legs down" I order, spinning round and getting a familiar blue bottle.
"No...you cannot mean to..."
"It's the only way" I insist, and Ana hesitates before tying his legs and arms down like I said.
"I don't like this" she whispers, shaking her head. "Something could go wrong."
"We have to take that chance-there is nothing else that will save him. The knife went into his heart, Ana. No one recovers from that," I sigh, half smirking at her, "hell, even I know that and I'm not even a doctor!"
She chuckles lightly.
"I will go inform Liam" she tells me, beginning to leave. "He may also want to...partake in this"
I nod.
Liam's POV
Sitting outside, I was shaking as I heard machinery and tools inside of the room.
"He's a demigod, right? He knows what he's doing" Sky smiles lightly, and I nod, not fully believing it.
Ana suddenly comes in from the room, looking at me with serious eyes, and I stand, trembling madly.
"Liam" she starts, watching me with mysterious green eyes.
"Oh god he's not-" I start, fresh tears spilling out from my eyes.
"No, no, but there is only one way to save him" she sighs, and I frown.
"Go ahead then, if it will save him!" I smile lightly.
"It will mean him becoming immortal" Ana explains and my face drops.
"You...mean..."
"Yes. He will have to be turned into a quartgod. This will save him as the body will heal automatically for him. There is only one last question for you..." she murmurs.
"Go on" I nod, not feeling all to comfortable with the fact that Mitch was going to be flying around in the future. What if he wanted an immortal boyfriend?
"If you wish, we will also turn you into an immortal. You were meant to be one from birth, so it will come less painful for you, though for Mitch he won't be so fortunate..." Ana sighs, and I nod rapidly.
"A-alright. If...if it's the only way" I whisper, watching Sky staring at us talking, not saying a word.
Ana takes me inside, and I try not to look at Mitch's body spasming and him grunting in pain.
"W-what's happening to him?" I squeak, trying not to look at him.
"Turning immortal isn't the most pleasant experience" Cisco chuckles, gesturing for me to lie on the table Tia lay on.
Lying down, Ana ties my hands and legs down with thick metal cuffs.
"What are you doing?" I whisper, fear running through my veins.
"Like Mitch you will also spasm, so we don't want you falling out everywhere" Cisco explains, chuckling again though it didn't make me feel better.
"Liam, this will be very painful. Mitch's will be worse, but your's will still be too. You feel agony beyond belief, pain you've never felt before and never want to feel again. It is similiar to red matter fire, but inside of you, burning you up, destroying your organs. Your heart will stop momentarily, as will all of your other organs before beating again. Once they do, you are immortal and you can wake up" Ana exclaims, nodding at me.
"Is that supposed to make me feel better because that doesn't make me feel better" I breath, trying to focus on my breathing.
Ana chuckles lightly, before injecting something into me, and before everything goes black, I hear Ana mutter, "You will be fine Liam. Think of Mitch."
As soon as the darkness envelops me, splintering pain bursts through me, and so I begin my first test of agony in becoming an immortal.
Tia's POV
The darkness was blurry and I keep walking on through it.
My breathing was heavy-I'd been walking for a while now.
Somewhere I could hear voices, one of them Ridge, talking to someone in the overworld.
I didn't know exactly where I was.
The land was purple with yellowish bricks all over the place. Endermen were everywhere, but even when I looked at them they didn't bother me.
Someone was leading me.
I couldn't see them, but they had my hand and they were tugging me through the endless expanse of yellow brick and I didn't fight it.
What was this place called again? The End?
I hear a loud roar and the... person? stops walking and I turn.
Staring at me with huge, purple eyes was a black dragon, large as life, it's mouth as big as my body.
It roars deafeningly at me, but I don't flinch-what was going on?
I can see the black pillars now, several of them, with giant pink floating crystals on top of them, It seems to be feeding the dragon power with beams of light and it readies up, power emanating in its chest.
It begins to aim at me, and when I turn round, Mexxy is there, smiling at me.
I wake up.
Ridge's POV
Tia's eyes suddenly flicker open, and she gasps loudly.
"Tia!" I grin, wrapping my arms round her body.
Her eyes wheel around in shock, taking in the room with a frown.
"Hey Tia, glad you could make it...all sorts of crazy stuff has been happening" Deamon laughs quietly, and I kiss her gently on the cheek.
She frowns at me in confusion and I frown back.
Then she opens her mouth to speak.
"I'm sorry, but who are you again?"
