Ridgedog's POV
One second, I was turning my back to the flames, sheltering Pansy as she screams in terror.
The next second, Tia is being eaten alive by a dragon.
For a moment there was a stunned silence, except for the flapping of wings and the manical laughter that burst from Kaz's lips as Tia was completely enveloped from my sight.
"Tia!" I gasped, darting forward, Pansy still clutching my coat, her little knuckles going white with the effort.
There is the sound of a deafening explosion, and the dragon opens its huge mouth and fire explodes from everywhere.
And then Tia pops out, very much alive, but her clothes were burnt and she fell through the air like a rock.
With a sickening jolt of alarm, I realized she was unconscious. Pushing Pansy quickly towards Deamon, I run through the air and leap forward, racing down to catch her before she hit the ground.
"How is she alive?" Kaz screeches above me. The wind whips at my clothes, but I dive faster and faster through it, until I finally wrap my arms round her burning hot waist, little embers of fire still lingering on her clothes, and I put on the brakes, coming to an abrupt halt in mid air.
The city below was quiet, and from my view I could see people staring up at us, like ants waiting to be squashed.
"Tia?" I whisper, fearing the worst.
To my relief, her eyes flicker open tiredly, letting out a groan, forehead creasing in pain.
Floating back up to the castle, I hold Tia close, glaring at Kaz.
"Leave now" I bark, pulling Tia closer.
"This isn't the end of this. This is war" she hisses, looking down at disgust at the dragon she was riding on, who looked incredibly pained, trembling at having an explosion.
"Ugh, you're pathetic" she sighs, shaking her head at the dragon sadly. "Looks like I'll have to kill you and start again."
With that, the two disappeared off into the distance.
Looking down at my queen in my arms, I scan her body for signs of life. She was breathing-just.
"Deamon, go get Cisco. She needs medical attention, now" I snap, and he nods, floating down the halls. Ana takes hold of Pansy-the little girl was crying her eyes out from fear of her life being, literally, burned.
"You're gonna be okay. You can't leave me now, not like this" I whisper, stroking her burnt cheek.
"I don't think I'll being anywhere for a while-can't feel my bloody legs" she groans, and I chuckle, watching anxiously as her eyes shut as she goes unconscious.
"Where is she?" Cisco's voice demands as he appears from the door. He gasps when he sees his sister, and rushes to her aid.
"What happened?" he asks as we sprint through the hallways to his lab.
"The dragon swallowed her. She exploded her way out of it but she was unconscious." I inform him, and he nods. When we finally reach his laboratory, he briskly gestures for me to lay her on a table.
Gently, I lay her down, smoothing her hair down.
"Is she going to be OK?" I ask.
He gives her a quick check over, rapidly hooking her up to a machine to check her heartbeat. It was steady, to my relief. Taking out a small magnifying glass, he examines her neck, and all parts of her clothes.
"She looks ok. She hasn't been bitten, so she'll survive" he smiles and I breath out a sigh, a small smile on my face.
"She will most likely be in a coma for a few days, like she was when she first used this power. She will be fine though, trust me" he sighs, taking off goggles that I hadn't noticed he had on in the first place.
"Anything new on the Dragonfire?" I inquire, watching as he eagerly heads over to a glowing table, the Dragonfire still hovering and burning brightly in the bottles. I do not move, however, instead opting to hold Tia's hand, glancing at her every few seconds for signs of her waking up. I didn't want her to be in a coma, not now. Not when a war was coming.
"Yes. Marvelous results actually-the dragon has been extinct for just over 2 millions years, and has been brought back by a series of DNA transplants which must have been preserved and fossilized in the ground..." He continues to babble on with scientific terms, until I stop him.
"English, please" I sigh, and he grins apologetically.
"A scientist has extracted DNA from previously dead fossils and somehow managed to revive them again. How he managed to get the dragon to form its shape is impossible. It must have taken a very skilled scientist to do this..." he murmurs, respect glittering in his eyes.
"This isn't the time for admiration, a giant flying death machine is waiting to kill us all, and I need you to find a way to kill it," I snap, glancing at Tia, who lay as still as a statue, "before it kills us." I finish, using my powers to drag a chair using telekinesis towards me, and I promptly sit on it, holding Tia's hand close to my face, which smelt like fire smoke and gunpowder, and begin the waiting game.
Duncan's POV
Holding a beaker close to my eyes, I squint into it, tilting my head. The Dragonfire, which is usually a somewhat khaki green, was now a vibrant orange, and my gloved, fire proof hand was nearly burning off from the power it was pulsing.
Placing it into a test tube holder on a stand, I pick up a clipboard, jotting down the changes-slight fizzes and pops, smoke pouring into the air in a small dark grey cloud, and a noticeable change in heat levels-
The sound of rocks breaking sound behind me, and I spin round, jogging out of my lab and jumping down the concrete steps, taking four at a time.
Kaz crash lands into the dungeon, the dragon's head landing on the floor with a crash.
"Useless!" she snaps, hopping off its back, sneering at it. She brushes the dust off her black leather jacket and black jeans, muttering curses.
I frown at her, and then she sees me.
"You!" she snarls, striding towards me.
"Wha...what?" I stutter, backing away hesitantly, before she lifts me up by my collar.
"You told me this dragon was the strongest thing on this Earth!" she screams, holding me high in the air.
"It is!" I protest, grabbing her hands to keep my balance.
"Then why can Tia use her little power to BLOW it up to the point where it won't listen to me?" she whispers, glaring at me in a menacing way.
"I-I don't know! I told you I was working on the upgrade, I told you-" I start, but with her free hand, she reaches up and slaps me hard across the face.
"Shut up, you snivelling rat." she spits, the saliva landing on my face before she throws me halfway across the room, my back hitting a pillar. The crack sends a shiver of pain up my spine, and I hold back tears as it fills my body.
"My lady?" a voice exclaims from the other side of the room and Kaz glances up.
"Ah, Alice. I need you to run some errands for me..." Kaz smiles, beckoning her apprentice over. The girl, only 18, the poor thing, tilted her head, her long black hair flowing like a waterfall behind her, before following her instruction and walking towards her, her steps echoing on the stones.
"Anything you need" Alice nods, her crimson red eyes flashing to me for a split second.
"Firstly, I want you to go lock Duncan up in the cells" she tells her, turning round to sneer at me. I go pale, staring at Alice in a pleading way.
"Then I want you to feed the dragon the meat it needs. What I told you last time" Kaz tells her and Alice nods, head low.
"After that, I want you to go get Israphel and Herobrine, and tell them to go down to the cell." Kaz finishes, before storming over to me, looking down at me like I was some slug on her shoe.
"When I have finished up some business, I'll be back for you" she whispers, staring at me with somewhat innocent eyes.
With that, she storms away, black heeled boots clicking on the stones as she heads up the stairs, black cape billowing out behind her.
Alice quickly jogs over to me, a sad smile on her face as she helps me up. Wincing, she doesn't object when I put an arm round her neck for support, and she helps me to the cell, as I hop along like some bunny.
"You know she's going to torture you" she whispers, eyes worried. She helps me into a small cell I keep in a joining room to my lab, to keep specimens.
"Yeah, I know" I wince, sighing as I flop onto the floor which was covered in hay-this was where the animals specimens were kept, after all. There was a small, empty black trough in the corner of the room, not even a drop of water in it. A rat squeaked in the corner, eyeing me with beady black eyes before scurrying, smartly, away.
Alice lifts my chin up, before putting a finger to her lips and slipping a health potion under a pile of hay. I blink at it in surprise, before smiling at her. She smiles back.
"I have to go now" she whispers hurriedly, hearing the footsteps as Kaz makes her way slowly down the stairs.
"Thank you Alice" I smile, leaning my head against the wall.
She nods, before quickly leaving, shutting the metal door behind her with a loud CLANK that alerted the dragon, who growled from the corner of the huge room outside of my laboratory.
"Thank you, my dear. Go feed that worthless little flying bat in the corner over there" Kaz sighs, ignoring the dragon as it growls in response.
Alice nods, glancing at me once worriedly, before disappearing from sight.
"Alright rat, let's get started shall we?" she murmurs, smirking at me as she stares at me from behind the bars of the cage.
"What have you been working on over here?" she asks, stalking towards the small, burning tube of Dragonfire.
"I've been increasing the power. Introducing the essence of the Golden Desert Eagle into it so it can temporarily stun its opponents. I was hoping to put it into the dragon, actually. Maybe that was the problem." I suggest eagerly, seizing the oppurtunity to be free.
"Well, once I'm done with you, you get right onto the that" she smirks, holding a hand above the bottle, before flinching away from the heat.
She rummages through various equipment on my desk, and I wince-she was messing everything up...
A smile rises onto her face as she picks up some heat proof test tube holders. She opens a chest under my desk to find a bar of metal, slipping it in between the test tube holder prongs.
I stiffen when I realize her intent.
She holds the metal firmly over the Dragonfire, her hands safe as she held the test tube holder at the bottom. The metal began to heat up, turning red as it burned, sizzling and spitting out liquified metal.
Grinning at me, she unlocks my cage with a wave of her hand.
"No" I protest weakly, scrambling into a corner, using my hands to propel myself as I back away from her.
"No! Please!" I whisper, tears in my eyes.
"Please! No!" I shout, raising my hands. She pushes them down, before pressing the burning, red hot metal to my forehead.
Note: MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY :D
