Two months later...

Piles of boxes were loaded outside (Y/N)'s apartment as she proceeded to shift them into Johnny's apartment. With Kreese gone, she could use another father figure. The family she'd spent looking for had abandoned her once again. What better way than to have someone like Johnny care for her in the same manner he'd cared for Miguel.

"Thanks for letting me move in." she acknowledged, having taken him up on his offer.

"Sure, kid." he smiled, taking the last of the boxes off of her hands.

In the meantime, she'd proceeded to the mailbox, sifting through her mail. Next to her mailbox a newspaper had been stuffed, revealing a picture of a familiar face. She pulled out the paper to flatten the crinkles.

"Terry Silver: Arrested after police discovered his money making methods. Revealed to be illegal..." she muttered, reading the headline to herself.

"Watcha readin'?" Miguel queried, sneaking up behind her.

"Do you know how they found out?" she frowned, handing him the paper.

"What? No hey babe, how are you doing? No kiss?" Miguel pouted, snaking his arm around her waist.

"Miguel, read this first." she insisted, shoving the paper in his face.

A smile crept across his lips as he looked through the article and who had testified against Terry Silver.

"Maybe he's not such a bad guy."

"Miguel, what are you talking about?" (Y/N) inquired.

He gestured to the name under the headline, indicating the word 'son' with great emphasis. As she read the word, it clicked. Xander had ratted out his own father.

"Where is Xander, anyway? Haven't seen him since the tournament." Miguel speculated, hoping to make amends.

"He left. For college..." a familiar voice interrupted.

A familiar presence walked in, just close to the mailbox. (Y/N)'s eyes beamed with excitement, glad that her best friend had come back to her.

Without a single word, she proceeded to embrace Luna. Miguel joined, classifying this moment as one of the best days of his life.

"What are you doing here anyway?" (Y/N) gasped, completely taken aback by Luna's presence. "I thought you weren't going to talk to me."

"You have quite a temper. And I wish you'd control it. But I couldn't hate you forever." she verified. "Anyways, I came to check out Sensei Lawrence."

(Y/N) gasped and playfully punched Luna in the arm. She reminisced about the time where the girls caught Johnny near the convenient store in his gi. Miguel shook his head, slapping the paper over to Luna, enlightening her on the news.

"Of course, Xander. That bastard." she laughed, waving the paper in the air.

(Y/N) continued to sift through her mail until she came across a letter, specifically with her name on it. Unsure, she proceeded to rip the envelop in half. Opening the contents inside, she pulled out a piece of paper.

'Dear (Y/N) (L/N), you have been granted a spot in our ethical hacking team. We would like to invite you to a six month training course (all expenses paid) over at New York City... In accordance to your career path... You must be under supervision'  she whispered to herself, reading different sentences in the letter - not in order.

"Wait... what the fuck?" she gasped, blurting all her words out at once. "I applied to this like ages ago, I didn't even remember I applied. And-And I didn't think I'd get in."

Miguel proceeded to snatch the letter to read it thoroughly. Confused, he read every single word to understand what was happening.

"This is amazing!" he encouraged. "But who are you going to take?"

(Y/N) shrugged, completely unsure. She'd felt a mix of emotions taking over - from excitement to feeling blue, given she'd be away from Miguel for the next six months. After going through various options, she'd settled on.

In the background, she observed Johnny taking the boxes into his apartment. There were way too many boxes, given the piles that resembled Mount Everest. Most full of fragile items.

"HEY DAD!" she yelled, waving.

Johnny's head instantly darted up as he approached her in the middle of taking the boxes into his apartment. He raised his eyebrows whilst slightly scrunching his face. It was inevitable that he looked a little taken aback.

"Sorry..." (Y/N) apologised, shaking her head. "I don't know why I said that."

Johnny paused to listen to her word vomit as she spend the next five minutes apologising for addressing him as her father.

"(Y/N)... it's ok. It was nice to hear it after a while." he admitted as a slight smile crept up on his face. "I'm sorry for what Kreese did. And put you through."

Johnny wasn't one for expressing his feelings. But this was definitely wholesome for him. (Y/N) sighed, deep down, knowing he was right. Yet, a part of her still missed Kreese - even though he didn't treat her the way he should have. She mentally buried the memory, focusing on the people with her now.

"Wanna go to New York City?" she offered, handing him the letter after having taken it from Miguel.

Judging by the look on his face, Johnny was more than ready. Mostly for the hot city babes. Or not...

"Miguel... I'm getting cold feet" (Y/N) pouted as Miguel pressed a bag of frozen peas on her thigh.

He leaned in to peck her on the lips. She winced as the bag touched her skin but reciprocated anyway - in order to distract herself. After a couple of minutes, she slowly relaxed, knowing her leg was now feeling numb.

"I'm away from you for six months, Miguel. It's a big deal to me!" she exclaimed, removing her leg from the bag. "I'm always moving, somewhere or the other. It's tiring. I wanna be home."

She shuffled closer to him after kicking the pillows that helped elevate her leg. Her arms were taped around his neck, while her head was buried in the crook of his neck.

"Stop being such a baby." he chuckled, reassuring her by rubbing her shoulder with his thumb. "It's six months. You'll be back in no time. Now go... tell them you're going."

The duo sat in silence, enjoying each other's presence. Not much was said. The presence and quality time they'd spent together in silence was extremely precious for the both of them.
