The first thing on (Y/N)'s mind was a steaming cup of coffee. She loved her short blacks like no other. Because if there was anything in the world she cared about, it was problem solving and efficiency. Her arm linked to his, the two walked in, seating themselves to a table. The bustle and commotion of a public venue set the atmosphere around them - a very friendly and welcoming environment.
Miguel proceeded to order, leaving (Y/N) to sit alone. Due to the long line, he obliged to wait in line. What a gentleman, he was.
Meanwhile, a familiar presence across the room sent chills down (Y/N)'s spine. She leaned forward to catch a glimpse of this person. Was she experiencing dejavu? One could only tell if she figured out who this person was. Broad shoulders, long hair, always representing his team. Classic marketing strategy. Definitely a male.
He turned to notice her staring right back at him. Upon his approach, he smirked down at her, completely unaffected after the night he was supposedly cheated on.
"What are you doing here, Xander?" (Y/N) spat as her cold shallow eyes were glaring his way.
"Same as you. I have a date" he gestured over to Luna who nervously turned away.
A shocked (Y/N) slammed her hands on the very table she was seated at. Anger, confusion, disappointment. A series of mixed emotions took over, wondering why on earth her best friend would be out with a guy like him.
"I'm joking. You know it's so cute how you take everything seriously." he chuckled. "She's here as a friend. You know, she's my friend too."
"Over my dead body" (Y/N) scoffed, immediately dismissing him. "What I wanna know is what the hell you said to her that she had to come out here with you. Because I know Luna hates you just as much. So cut the crap and tell me what the hell you want with her?"
"I think..." Xander responded, enjoying a sip of his coffee. "We both know the answer to that, bunny"
Confused, (Y/N) shook her head, dismissing him completely. To her, it was entirely possible that Xander had nothing worthwhile to say, given how stupid he was to her - even though she knew he was Terry's son.
"I don't know what you're talking about but stay away from me. Stay away from my friends and boyfriend" she demanded, dismissing his presence.
She noticed Xander's sudden change of expression, clearly indicating he knew exactly what was going on. A still confused (Y/N) attempted to think things through, trying to put the pieces together. It was so obvious to her. How could she have missed that?
"You broke in and took the papers, didn't you?" she scoffed.
Xander bent down and leaned in to her ear. He inhaled deeply like it was his last breath. He pursed his lips and finally spoke.
"Meet me at the Topanga Karate Dojo. 10pm. Because I know exactly who you are. You can run but your friend won't..." he huffed.
"Miss Sparrow"
(Y/N)'s eyes widened in shock, like she had just gone through something traumatic. She could've sworn she had concealed her identity as best as she could. She also trusted Luna wouldn't say anything. She trusted her best friend more than anything else in the world, given Luna was the first person to speak to her when she first came to West Valley High.
"Is there a problem here?" Miguel frowned as he abruptly set the cups of coffee down on the table.
His focus entirely being on Xander built up a stern, cold expression across his face. He anticipated for Xander to leave, all factors aside. Miguel's hand was placed on (Y/N)'s shoulder, gently giving it a squeeze to let her know she was safe with him.
"Is he bothering you, babe?" Miguel whispered, leaning down towards her ear.
"No I'm ok" she responded, giving Miguel's hand a squeeze as it rested on her shoulder. "Xander was just leaving."
"Not really. I'm here for something important" he interrupted, getting technical.
"Then go do it somewhere in a corner. You're interrupting our date, Xander" Miguel threatened by clenching his fists to follow through.
And that was Miguel's final queue.
Miguel struck his fist, directly at Xander's face, who successfully blocked it, throwing a spin kick to his chest. With a backflip, Miguel was back on his feet, ready to surprise his current opponent. After a series of punches from Xander, he spun the opposite direction where he faced his back. With the illegal crane kick Daniel had performed once, Miguel sent Xander flying to the other end of the cafe with a bloody nose and lip.
"STAY AWAY FROM HER" he yelled, sniffing the blood that trickled down his nose.
Xander roared and charged towards Miguel, grabbing him by the waist to wrestle him to the ground. Miguel chimed in, attempting to knee him repeatedly till he gave out.
Phones were pulled out, recording and snapping the events that took place today. (Y/N) was in no form to get involved but seeing Miguel beat up only gave her more grief. She had to do something. Despite being recorded, (Y/N) had to save Miguel at any cost.
She pulled a scarf that rested on a customer's table, using it to choke Xander until his body was separated from Miguel's. Followed by a cough and a laugh, Xander pulled (Y/N) forward, putting her into a headlock on the basis of his control.
(Y/N) kicked Xander in the knee, until he lost balance. She swept his leg, causing him to fall backwards. Angered after being allegedly let down by her best friend, she forced him up, kicking him once again until his chest touched the floor. She proceeded to lock his arm as tight as possible, on the verge of breaking it.
"(Y/N)..." Miguel gasped. "Don't do it..."
She paused to look at the crowd around, completely silent. Her attention shifted back at Miguel, who was in complete shock, seeing what she was capable of. Without giving it a second thought, she immediately left the premises with Miguel following behind.
A dumbfounded Luna walked past Xander on the floor, only to see him smirking. It was clear that he had something on her. Something big. Following Miguel and (Y/N) out, Luna chased behind them to stop them in their tracks.
"(Y/N) wait!" she yelled from a distance, finally catching up after the two of them.
Miguel turned to Luna with his arms crossed, completely unhappy and in shock as to what he just saw. A distraught (Y/N) snaked her arm around his waist as he pulled her closer to keep her safe.
"Luna, what's going on between you and Xander?" she asked, impatiently waiting for her answer.
She couldn't answer truthfully. Not this time. Fiddling with her bracelets, she frantically tried to come up with a response in her mind to keep her real problem from getting in the way.
"I-I'm sorry" she stuttered. "I can't tell you"
(Y/N) inhaled deeply, about to give her best friend the biggest verbal smackdown of her life. She pursed her lips together, clenching her fists by her side. As much as she wanted to fight it out, it wouldn't be a fair fight between herself and her best friend. But what she was about to say would sting anyone, let alone Luna.
"If you can't be honest with me... Then I don't think we should be friends"
"(Y/N) no, you guys are best friends you can't just--" Miguel gasped in shock.
She covered his mouth with her hand, not allowing him to finish the sentence. The words terribly stung them both. Even Miguel. With her arm around Miguel, the two walked off, leaving Luna alone in the middle of the street past the cafe they were initially at.
"I've made my choice" (Y/N) concluded.
