The Suprising Allie
Cole's POV
"Let's kick my Dads ass!" Lloyd shouted charging towards the sound of the menacing laughter.
Me, Zane and Kai split off first, running to where most of the terrified screams could be heard. We manoeuvred round a bend and came head first into the action.
People were crying for help everywhere and many who weren't stuck or injured had fled despite the pleas from helpless civilians. A few courageous people stopped to help but once they discovered the scenario some people were in, they left in fear in there own demise.
I immediately ran to a red telephone box. Inside was a young boy, no older then seven, as another the age of thirteen wept from the outside, unable to open the door as a massive slab of concrete had blocked it. Upon approach, I flipped my hood up to hide my identity. The thirteen year old wiped his head around to the sound of my footsteps getting closer. His blond hair matted with mud and a red substance I presumed was blood. His eyes were bloodshot as tears leaked in masses for what I presumed was his younger brother stuck in the red box. He slinked away from me in shock.
"Hey, Hey, it's okay, I'm just gonna help you" I soothed, taking small slow steps towards him in case he freaks out and makes a run for it.
The boy nodded and slowly stood up, "p-please help my-my b-brother"
I smiled sympathetically to show I was gonna help him. But upon remembering he can't see my face -just my eyes- I resolved to nodding instead.
I curled my fingers around the concrete and heaved with all my might until the slab started to shift. I've never been happier to have super strength then at this one moment. Once the block was lifted above my head, I through it towards an unoccupied bit of road and on impact, broke in uneven quarters.
I turned to face the red telephone box and ripped the door right off its hinges. The younger boy inside the box sprinted out and engulfed the older in a loving hug. He too had bloodshot eyes and matted blond hair.
I was about to speak and tell the two boys to get to safety when the younger swung around and gripped my waist. I was taken back at his jester and stood there, awe struck until he released me and looked up into my eyes.
"Thank you, Black Ninja, your my hero," He said before speeding off with his brother down the street, away from the noise of the over lord.
At that moment, I wanted nothing more than to help and save as many people as I could. Die or not, I was gonna help 'till my last dying breath.
I glanced around, my eyes landing on a flash of white as Zane blocked a chunk of building falling onto some surviving people with his ice element. The people under the ice stared in shock at what Zane was able to do with ice until scampering away from the intermit danger they were still in. Some people threw a 'thanks' Zane's way but most just concentrated on getting far away from the city as possible.
I turned to my left and spotted Kai pulling a middle aged man out of a hole in which had been created thanks to the uneven levelling of the road.
I did a full 360 turn until my eyes landed on my next victim of rescuing: A limestone pillar had toppled over and blocked the exit of a building. Through the glass windows, I could see at least 15 people screaming to be saved.
I ran to building, already feeling my super strength ignite with anticipation and desire to help. Thankfully one of the pillars still stood tall, i don't think I would of been able to lift two of the pillars. It was only the left one that had fallen, whilst the right one still remained.
Once again, I curled my fingers around the fallen pillar and began to lift the object away from the doors. However, by the time I'd pulled the limestone cylinder a meter from the ground, I heard the heart stopping crack of the other pillar to the right. But before I could do anything, it fell directly on-top of me, crushing my well built figure.
I groaned and struggled against the heavy weight of both the pillars. Once again I found myself thanking the heavens for my super strength, otherwise I would have surely been squished in a matter of seconds. But sadly, even super strength has it limitations for I could not shift the weight that lay upon me.
I tried to scream out to Kai and Zane, but my voice couldn't escape my mouth. Damm pillar, I thought as it pushed against my chest, cutting off my much needed oxygen, and the use of my voice.
Another minute of struggling passed and my vision began to adopt black and white spots, blinding my sight. The lack of air really taking a toll on me. My head also decided to increase the volume of my beating heart, as it echoed in my skull causing me to wince every time a beat was made. I can honestly say I'd rather have a sledge hammer smashed against my skull instead of this.
"Need a hand?" A vaguely familiar voice asked from behind me. It sounded distant and blurred, but in reality it stood a few feet behind me. If I could scowl at how stupid that question was, I would of, but right now, I did not have the capacity or energy to do so.
I tilted my head back, my vision still unsettlingly blurred as I tried to get a good look at the person behind me. Unfortunately, all I could make out was a smudge of dark green.
"Brace yourself...." The voice came again. A light wave of air tickled my skin, sending a calm feeling shimmying down my body. The breath of air increased. It was more like a punch in the face than a general breeze now. The wind must have been going over 100mph. Another ten seconds past, the wind speeds still increasing and I found myself feeling grateful for the weight upon me, other wise I'm pretty sure I would of been blown all the way to the other side of Ninjago, but quickly dismissed the feeling gratefulness because of how stupid it sounded.
My black hair kept flinging in my face with so much force that it felt like a million whips.
The winds still increased and I began to wonder how on Earth these supernatural wind speeds were occurring, until a solution to my question arose in my mind: Another elemental master perhaps? A Wind Master? But I didn't get time to ponder these thoughts further as I began to feel the weight decrease on my body as the pillar began to shift because of the high winds, and oxygen return to my lungs.
As soon as my chance came, I crawled out from under the mass of limestone and collapsed on the ground. My saviour continued to move the pillar until the people trapped inside were able to exit the building and scurry away from harms reach.
The first breath I took, I sucked in as much air as I could handle before exhaling quickly, repeating the action several times whilst clutching the place where my heart lay.
By the time I'd recovered from my lack of oxygen, I managed to stutter out a few words to my rescuer.
"How..... the hell....... did you.... do...... that.....?" I said, still in the dark as to who had aided me.
"A simple 'thank you' would of sufficed" The voice replied. And in that instance, the voice matched together with a face in my mind: Morro.
My dark brown eyes trailed up to meet his dark green ones. His posture was slouched and he had a cocky smirk on his face, but not the kind you show to your friend, oh no, he had the kind you have when someone you despised gets into trouble and you can't help but feel smug about it. His arms were crossed over his torso and he seemed to have put most of his weight on his left foot. He wore his signature dark green hoodie and black jeans.
"How did you do that?" I asked sternly, standing up straighter and puffing my chest out, making myself look bigger than I actually was.
"Calm down ass-hat, if it wasn't for me, you would of still be under that pile of crap" Morro sneered.
I didn't answer, just continued to stare intently at Morro. He rolled his eyes before continuing.
"What? Did you think Lloyd was the only one with elemental powers? Hell no! As it turns out, my grandfather -my mothers dad- was an elemental master of wind. The element skipped a generation, before you ask"
"But how did you get to your element? We had to travel half way across Ninjago! And cross the sea!" I shouted, still in denial.
"Well, my father wanted me to join his army, I agreed on the bases that the job seemed pretty cool, you know ruling the world and all, plus my father told me about my elemental potential, and showed me a short cut on how to get them without needing to go the light temple. But when I learnt that my father wanted to destroy Lloyd, I couldn't do it, and yes, even though he's a twat and a major loser, he's my brother first. So I went rouge, that is until I found you suffocating under those pillars." He finished chuckling to himself.
I still held a scowl. Although I was actually kinda touched at his kind words for brother, but i still felt cautious, for all we know he could still be working for his father.
"I don't know whether it's the years of you bullying us, or the fact that I genuinely don't trust you, but I don't believe a single word other comes out of your mouth" I said, narrowing my eyes.
"I'm not asking you to trust me, just let me help" He eyes held a genuine stare that made me reconsider.
"Fine, but know this, if you do anything that jeopardises this city, you'll have me to deal with" I said, practically feeling the venom dripping from my words.
"Ooooh, tough guy, huh? Look, I haven't been scared of you since I beat you ass in Middle School, and I ain't staring now" He growled.
I rolled my eyes and sped off to help more endangered people, Morro following close behind.
~~~Time Skip~~~
My hands were raw and blisters could be felt through the thin fabric of my fingerless gloves. Multiple hours had passed and the sun had began to shine over the city, making mine, Zane and Kai's job a lot easier. We had been helping people all through the night and hopefully saved many lives.
We had gone from road to road, block to block and building to building, lifting stuff, pushing stuff, burning stuff, all in attempt to help the innocent survivors.
Just like me, Zane was sceptical about letting Morro help, but ended up caving in and agreeing, giving the same threat I promised.
Kai on the other hand was completely against the idea, and me and Zane had to hold him back when he tried to lash out at Morro. I couldn't blame him though, last time these two saw each other, they were rolling around on the floor throwing nasty punches.
Kai finally agreed to let him help, his threat different from mine and Zanes. He said, and I quote 'if you ever touch Skylor I will kill you.' To which Morro just rolled his eyes and muttered an acceptance.
On multiple occasions, we had nearly come head first into the overlord. And every time I double checked to see if Seliel was okay, and every time she kissed my cheek in reassurance before charging off to fight another minion.
About half way through the night, every radio, Tv and Billboard spring to life and Nya's voice and/ or body came to light as she shouted in a calm voice that everyone still inside the city needs to evacuate ASAP.
When the sun had finally rose fully in the sky, me, Zane, Kai and Morro were struggling to find people to help. That was until I heard Jay shout through my phone once I picked up his call.
"Hey Jay, what's up?" I asked, a nervous edge on my voice. I wasn't expecting anything majourly bad, considering Jay makes a big deal about everything. But the four words he used chilled me to the bone.
"ITS LLOYD, HE'S INJURED!!"
