Case: Students have gone missing, claw marks have appeared on the walls, and witnesses claim they have seen an eight foot black cat with blazing red eyes kidnap students.

Chapter 1

I arrived in Chicago around 9:00 AM. I tagged down a taxi that took me a block from Buckthorn Academy of Creative Writing because he was not allowed to go near campus. I walked towards the school, listening to the hum of the traffic, when I arrived at a large mansion. It had a black gate going around the perimeter, an emerald green lawn, and many limousines were parked in the driveways. The building was four stories tall with about thirty windows on each level. Security guards in uniforms and dark glasses were guarding the gates. They asked for student identification. Luckily the principle had given me I.D. I breezed through security. An officer took my bags and led me up the driveway. He opened the circular door and led me into the hall. The ground was shined marble and I could see the reflection of my purple converse with every step I took. The ceilings were so tall that you could play football without even touching the ceiling. The staircase spiraled up and up with rope bridges to cross from the stairs to the floors.

"Through that door is the dining hall," the guard said pointing towards another circular door. "The second floor is the dorms. Boys on left, girls on right. Your room number is on the identification. The next two floors are classrooms. In your dorm you will find your supplies list and schedule." He then disappeared back outside leaving me in silence, his words echoing over and over in my head.
