Chapter Twelve: I blow up

I changed it so Kat's hair has purple, blue, and green highlights just because.

They didn't have bacon. It was a very sad breakfast, but they did have pork. Jake said it was pretty much like bacon, but I disagree.

The 'cafeteria' (I guess you can call it that) was a big building with a glass roof. It looked really cool. There were dark oak circular tables everywhere, and on one side was a line of people waiting for their food. I couldn't tell you what the cafeteria looked like, because I just got my pork, bread, milk, and followed Jake.

We sat on an empty table. But it's not like we are outcasts. There were still a lot of people going in the place.

"So." I said.

"What?" Jake stopped eating.

"Nothing. Just trying to lighten the mood."

All of a sudden, I heard the table thump. I looked up and saw two girls sit down. One had brown hair in a ponytail, and brown eyes behind glasses. She wore a black shirt with a neon green zebra print, and blue jeans that had splatters on them. She was tan, and looked cheerful.

"Sup!" She said.

The other one waved and gave a small smile. She had glowing blue eyes like Jake, but had blonde hair in a single French braid. She had a light gray cap on backwards, a black leather jacket over a cyan shirt, and black jeggings. With her splash of freckles on her face, she looked innocent and sweet, but a glint in her eyes said mess with me and you die. That glint made me want to be besties with her.

"What?" She said.

Oops. I guess I was staring.

"My eyes disturb you?" She asked.

"No." I said quickly.

"Oh." She seemed slightly disappointed.

"Don't mind her." The brown-haired girl said. "She always likes to get into arguments. I'm Abby. Of course, people call me the Amazing Abby, or-"

"Abby is high strong and outgoing." Jake interrupted. "And this other one is Infinity, my..."

"I'm his sister." Infinity finished.

"Half sister." Jake added. "My dad and her mom."

"Awww." Abby and I said at the same time.

"Abby is a major builder. And Infinity is-" Jake started, but I cut him off.

"You're one of the snipers from the meeting."

She nodded. "The best around."

Jake rolled his eyes. "Where's Gordon?"

"Working on another redstone tnt cannon." Abby said while eating a piece of bread.

"Great." Jake groaned. "Last time, he almost destroyed the farm."

"He's got it this time. I think."

At that moment, the door burst open, and a tall, pale guy stumbled in. He had spiky blonde hair so light it was white, and green eyes. He wore a red long sleeve shirt and white jeans. Well, they would be white if they weren't smoldering like the rest of him.

He looked around, and stumbled toward our table.

"Hey guys." He sat down casually. Then, he saw me. "So this is the famous Kat. Well, she's prettier than I thought." He winked at me. "Gordon Mario Goodwill, at your service."

I raised an eyebrow. I saw Jake frown at the corner of my eye.

"Gordon." Infinity rolled her eyes. "We don't have full names."

"Well if I did, my middle name would be Mario and my last name would be Goodwill."

"What happened this time?" Abby asked him.

"Little advice. Never make a tnt cannon without water."

Abby busted out laughing while Infinity and Jake chuckled.

"So you like explosions?" I asked Gordon.

"The guy's a genius with redstone." Jake said, jabbing his thumb towards Gordon, who was grinning. "But he mostly channels his gift in an explosive way."

"You make me blush Jakey." Gordon waved to him.

"So is there another individual character that I should know about?" I asked Jake.

"Nope."

"Okay."

For the next few minutes, we all just talked and laughed. It felt good to just be a part of normal people. Well, abnormal people. But it felt good to belong. And I really like these people. They all had something unique about them, and treated each other like good friends. Even me.

After breakfast, people started leaving.

"Hey. Guys." Jake called after our group.

"I can't be with Kat right now. I have work to do. So can someone babysit her?"

"Hey!" I defied.

"Oo! Oo!" Gordon waved his hand around. "Pick me!"

"I'll do it." Abby stepped forward. Gordon pouted.

"Cool. Abby, teach Kat how to build. See you guys." Jake said in a hurry, then walked away quickly.

"If I didn't know any better, I'd say he was trying to get rid of me." I noticed.

Abby laughed. "Well, looks like you're stuck with me. But don't worry. It'll be fun."

It was fun until I blew up. No joke. I did. Surprising, I know.

I was in the Builders Building. It was a giant building that was made of chiseled, regular, and column Quartz. There was slabs, stairs, and glowstone decorating the walls. A glass dome was in the ceiling so no extra light was needed.

Inside was a mess, but it was a good mess. There was action everywhere. People everywhere. There seemed to be around 50 people working on different things, redstone, walls, castles, statues, you name it, they had it. Great, now I'm starting to sound like I'm in a commercial.

"This is my home." Abby said. Then, she raised her arms. "And these, are my people!"

A bunch of people cheered when she said that.

"Follow me." She walked into the crowd. I followed, scared of what might happen.

"So this is," Abby started, but we both had to duck when a block shot out of a piston. "where we invent everything in the camp."

I had to move out of the way of a guy that carried a bunch of slime. "Is it always this crazy?"

"Sometimes crazier." Abby stopped and held her arm out for me to stop. An arrow shot across the aisle and hit a wall.

"Alex!" Abby called.

"Sorry!" A male voice replied from where the arrow was shot.

"Use some redstone repeaters to keep that going!" She offered, instead of scolding.

"You know redstone too?" I asked as we kept going.

"Gordon taught me." It looked like her face reddened a little, but she moved it too quickly to see for sure. "Just basic stuff."

"Oh." I didn't know anything about redstone.

"Ralph! Keep the lava from flowing!" She yelled to someone else.

"Is this place safe?" I asked.

"No. Problem?"

I smiled. "Not at all."

"Here." We stopped in a space maybe 7 blocks wide and 5 blocks long. There were some chests, a crafting table, and 2 furni (plural for furnaces obviously).

"This is where I work. I always take down my projects so I have room for more."

"Are you good?"

"She's the best!" A voice said behind me. I turned around and saw Gordon with tnt in his hand.

"I appreciate it Gordon, but what are you doing with that?" Abby took a step back.

"I wanted to show you guys something!"

He placed down 4 blocks in a circle, then put water in the middle.

"Observe." He said.

I admit, I looked away. I saw something interesting, and looked that way. Ooo, a rainbow beacon.

"SON OF A CREEPER!"

I looked behind and saw the tnt ignited. Gordon and Abby were already far away. But something was wrong. The water to catch the tnt was gone.

"Kat!" Abby yelled.

Too late, I tried to back up. The tnt exploded right in front of me, and everything went black.
