Chapter Ten- Traitor.
As I walked in, I was amazed. There were a ton of buildings that had a certain pattern- Quartz. Quartz blocks, slabs, and stairs. There was chiseled and column. The roads were made of gravel like the village. Street lamps lit the place up, as it was just getting to be light. I could see a building twice as tall as all the other ones in the center of the town. I guessed it was some kind of town hall.
"Head towards there." The guy behind me said, pointing to the tall building.
"What is this place?" I asked. He didn't respond.
When we got there, he knocked 3 times. The door opened, revealing another guard.
"What is it?" The other guard asked, sleepily.
The first guard nodded toward my direction. The second one rubbed his eyes and looked at me.
"Um, Come in."
We walked in. There was just a hall leading left and right. Opposite the door was a chair that was probably where the guard sat.
"He's gonna be happy about this." The second guard said, almost happily.
"If it's her." The first guard said behind me.
"Ahm, guys. Hi. I'm standing right here." I notified them. They said nothing.
"Um, over here. He just finished a meeting, so you should be able to get him." The second one waved to the left.
"Who's him?" I asked. Again, nothing.
"Come on." The first one gestured for me to move.
I walked down the hall to the left. There wasn't much lighting it, but the walls were bright so it was good enough.
We turned right, revealing another hallway. But this one had a door.
"Right here." The guard said, and we stopped in front of the door. He opened it, and showed a staircase leading up.
"So much work." I groaned. "Wait where's Jewel?"
I looked around, but realized that she was on my shoulder.
"Jeez girl you scared me." I said to her. Then, I started walking up.
After a few flights, the guard told me to stop at a door. It was labeled "Conference Room".
"I'm guessing you have conferences here." I said.
The guard grunted. "Let's hope we aren't interrupting one. Also, you're going to have to leave the pet behind."
I looked around. "I don't see a pet. Oh wait, you mean Jewel? Oh no, she's not a pet. She's a loyal companion. A friend."
He sighed. "Fine. But keep her under control. Oh, and take off your armor."
I remembered that I still had my gold armor on. I took off the chest plate and boots, and put them in my inventory. I then nodded at the guard.
With that, he opened the door.

Okay guys sorry this is so short, I-
Wait did you really think I'd stop it there? Haha. No.

As we entered, I looked around. The medium sized room was mostly taken up by a large table that looked like an oversized coffee table covered with maps, documents, and other boring looking things. There were 12 seats in all. All of the walls were a quartz block. The back wall had a big window looking over the town.
Now for the people standing on he opposite side of the table. All 5 were looking over a map, not noticing us. 4 of them were dressed in dark blue hoodies and black jeans. Wait, were those the people from before that helped kill the zombies? They had bows strapped on their backs, but no quivers. One was a girl with her brown hair braided down the front {😏}. Another was a blonde boy, a blonde girl, and the last was an older brown haired boy.
My heart skipped a bit. The last person was dressed casually. They had a red shirt on under a black jacket, and jeans. They had black hair, and bright blue eyes.
Daaaang he's cute. I thought.
No. I fought back. He's a total stranger.
A cute stranger.
Shut up.
The 5 people were totally focused, and didn't see us come in.
"Ahem." I heard the guard clear his throat.
All 5 looked up, staring at me. But only the (cute) boy looked me in the eye. His eyes were mesmerizing and beauti- snap out of it!
"Hi." I said.
"Is that..." The girl with the braid said.
"No. It isn't." The older man said.
"But she looks-" the blonde boy said.
"She isn't wearing the same clothes. And that is impossible."
"Excuse me." I interrupted, stepping forward and waving. "Hi. I'm right here."
"What are you doing here?" The braid girl said.
"I'm sorry, but he," I pointed to the guard. "sent me here."
"Way to throw me under the bus." He muttered. So now he has a personality.
"Anyways, my name is-"
"Katherine Moone." The cute boy said. His eyes never looked away from mine.
"Yeah... Who are you?"
He looked away for once towards the group. "You guys are dismissed. We'll talk later about your positions."
The 4 people left without a word. I noticed that the black haired girl didn't say a single thing, but just stared at the ground. Silence struck the room, and it got really awkward.
"So. You're not going to tell me your name?" I asked.
The boy frowned. "What are you doing here? No offense."
I shrugged. "I don't know. I found this place and this guard took me in."
The boy raised an eyebrow. "This place? Do you know what this is? And how did you stumble upon it?"
"Look." I rested my hand on the table rather hardly. "I woke up with no memory a while ago. I don't remember anything except my name, and people act like I'm the chosen one, but really, I'm just a clueless noob. So I'd really appreciate if I could ask the questions for once."
Silence. Even more awkward than the first time. The boy stared me down while the guard looked between us nervously.
Then, I felt Jewel jump off of my shoulder. Before I could stop her, she ran across the table and laid in front of the boy, exposing her belly. The boy chuckled and pet her.
"Traitor." I muttered to her.
The boy sat down. "Okay. Quiz me. Ask me something."
I sat down opposite from him. "Okay. Who are you?"
"Jake. Leader of this army base." He said, nonchalantly.
"Right. Now what is this war base?"
Jake looked surprised. "We are one of many large groups of Minecrafters that are stationed at different parts of the world. Some have thousands of people, others millions, but some, like this one, have only a few hundred."
"That's still a lot of people." I tried to imagine commanding hundreds of people. That would probably end bad. But millions? Wow. "Why are there army bases? What do you guys do?"
"Protect. Serve. Fight." He said vaguely. "We keep the monsters at bay, contact with each other, and get ready to fight when we are needed. Which is probably soon." He muttered the last part.
"Oh. And there are a lot of you people?"
"Hundreds. But still, we are small in numbers compared to the enemy."
"The enemy..." I repeated. I knew it was Herobrine, but the way Charloe reacted, I didn't say anything to Jake. "Tell me more."
"I don't think I should." He said automatically. "But now it's my turn to ask questions."
"Okay." I leaned back. "Can't tell you much, but why not."
"You said you woke up with no memory."
"No. Bits and pieces come by every now and then, but it's just about how to Minecraft."
"Um, okay. Tell me everything up until this point."
And so I did. When I woke up, to when I made my house. I fell in the hole (stupid chicken), got rescued by Charlie, lived in the village, went mining, and the priest (stupid priest).
"Wow." He said when I talked about the possessed priest. "He conjured up that much power?"
"That should be impossible." The guard said quietly, by the door. I forgot he was there.
"His power is growing." Jake ensured. "Becoming easier to be tampered with by mortals. His little game."
"So he isn't mortal." I picked off from the conversation. Herobrine is a god...?
"Continue your story." Jake ignored my statement.
I explained blacking out, Charlie leaving the village, me leaving, and coming across the igloo. I didn't talk about the underground room, or the book that I still had. I explained the zombies burning the forest.
"You're the extra person that helped the snipers?" He asked. "I'm impressed. My snipers, the people that were just here, said that they saw arrows fly, but didn't know from where. And there was definitely a Mutant Zombie?"
"Yeah. He looked like a zombie that was on steroids."
Jake cracked a smile. "Okay. Is that all?"
I then said that I found a wall, and the guard took me here.
"Hmm." Jake was deep in thought.
After a little bit of silence, he stood up. "Well. You're here now. So I guess we should welcome you. Welcome."
"Sup." I lifted my head up. "So am I staying here?"
He rubbed the back of his neck. "Hard to say how long. But for now, yes."
He walked towards the door. "I guess I'll have to show you around."
