Chapter Fourteen: Danny the Double Agent
Hey sorry I haven't uploaded in a little bit. A lot of depressed friend troubles have gotten into my life, but things are getting better :)
~Note~ I did get the stick fighting idea from the Minecraft music video 'Take Back The Night'. Best song ever. But yeah.

"DIEEE!"
(~What lovely word to start off a chapter with~)
I ran at Jake with my stick raised high. He just stepped to the side and tripped me. But as I fell, I caught myself so I didn't hurt my beautiful face.
"Your defense is weak." He said, twirling his weapon.
"I'm just impatient." I grumbled. I got up and faced him.
"Well that's dumb."
"Thanks."
"If you were in a real sword fight and the person wasn't dumb, you would be dead."
"You know, this isn't helping me be confident."
"Good." Jake said. "Come at me again."
I took a moment to study him. No, not in that way. Even though he is good looking. But I noticed that he puts all of his weight on his left leg. That could be useful information.
I ran at him from the right, expecting him to transfer his weight. But no. Excellent.
I quickly charged to the left, then, at the last second, slid down to kick his leg right under him. It worked. He did a complete front flip and landed on his butt.
"Ow!" He shouted.
"Success!" I laughed. "I didn't know you could do a front flip!"
"Nice job." He grunted as he got up. "You learn fast."
"Thank ya thank ya." I bowed.
"Noooo prob." He rubbed his rear. "Dang girl. Ya know what, why don't you go hang with Gordon. I think you should give him a bruise too."
"Wimp." I coughed.
"What was that?" He raised an eyebrow.
"I said 'get better soon!'"
He gave me a look.
"Yeah, I called you a wimp." I admitted. I started walking out of the building. It was a place where everyone trained in things such as sword fighting, fist fighting, archery, even axe fighting. I don't know who would fight with an axe, but the idea seemed cool.
"Honest, but brutal." He noticed. "Well then. I'll be at the town hall place if you need me. See you later."
"Later!" I yelled after him. Then, I thought about where Gordon might be.
Wait a second. This is my chance to explore on my own. I don't have a babysitter right now. Hmmm....
"Hey Kat." Infinity came up to me. "All alone?"
"Yes. I mean, no. Maybe. But-"
"You wanna explore on your own?" She cut me off.
I nodded. "Please."
"Go ahead." She walked away, heading towards the town hall where Jake went. I swear if she rats me out...
I have never been to the market, so I decided to go there first.
~<>~
Turns out, the walls are unnecessary. There was no roof, so it was just like an outdoor marketplace. There was only one aisle, so each stall had its back to a Quartz wall. There were all different kinds of stalls. Blocks, weapons, food, tools, armor, redstone, even a tnt one (right next to the redstone one, so I decided to stay away). There weren't enough people to crowd the place, but enough to keep everyone busy.
"Hey Kat!" I heard a voice say.
Crap. I've been spotted.
I turned around and saw Danny there, grinning at me with a bow in his hand.
"Hey Danny." I asked, relieved. "What's up?"
"I was going to practice with the snipers, and I wanted you to come!" He said, excitedly.
"Aww, okay!" I said. To be honest, I felt uncomfortable around projectiles flying around, but I didn't want to hurt the little guy's feelings.
"Cool!" He ran to the entrance of the market. "Let's go!"
I laughed and ran after him. After we got out into the street, he headed toward the outskirts of the base. I've never really been around there, just to the center where there was the important stuff.
He stopped in front of a small building made of blue and black wool. It seemed kind of dark, and I felt like Danny was a double agent leading me into a trap.
He grinned at me and opened the door, not waiting for me. I went in after him, shutting the door.

"Wow." I said, my eyebrows raised.
The room was made up of two parts. Closer to us was a range of targets, moving and still ones. I guess that the moving ones were wiring by redstone. There was a walkway behind where the few people were shooting, never missing a target. Behind was kind of an environmental obstacle course. I counted three trees, a few columns, some hills, and some trenches. I saw people zigzag in there... shooting each other?
I had a few questions, but safety first. "Why are they shooting each other? Won't they get hurt?"
Danny giggled. "Diamond armor. I can't wait to go in there. But that's for the high level people. I'm still on targets."
"Hey small-fry."
I thought someone was talking to me, but then a guy came up and ruffled Danny's hair. He had black glasses that covered his eyes and was tan. His blonde hair with red streaks was seen even with his navy hood up. He had a sly smile on.
"Hey Link!" Danny held his hand out for a fist bump, which Link returned.
"Sup Link." I tried to look cool and tilted my head up.
"Kat." He took off his glasses, revealing pale green eyes. "Fancy seeing you here."
"Do I know you?" I asked.
He chuckled. "Right. You lost your memory. I suppose not then. So what are you doing here?"
"I invited her!" Danny said, eager to speak. "I wanna show her everything!"
"Really?" Link raised an eyebrow.
I didn't know what he meant by that. "Yep."
"Well okay then." He put his glasses on and swagger walked away. "Carry on."
"Wonder what his deal is." I muttered to myself.
"He's so cool! He's like our best sniper!" Danny exclaimed.
"So you wanna show me what you can do?" I asked, changing the topic.
"Yes!" He ran away to some chests near the door that I didn't notice before. He pulled out a few arrows, and ran over to a nearby target.
"Watch this!" He backed up until he was the same distance as everyone else, maybe 30 blocks away. He then notched an arrow and pulled it back. A few seconds later, he let it go. The arrow sailed and sunk just barely outside the bullseye.
"Wow!" I was impressed, even though he didn't make a bullseye. "That was good!"
He grinned at me. "You try now!"
I shook my head. "Nah, it wouldn't be safe."
He laughed. "Yeah it will! Just try!"
To be honest, I didn't want to embarrass myself, since a few other people stopped to look at us. Including Link, who wore a smirk on his face.
Nevertheless, I walked to Danny. He gave me his bow and an arrow. I took the arrow and notched it.
Please let me not make a fool out of myself, I thought.
Without thinking or hesitating, I pointed the arrow towards the target and shot. It went straight through and sank far into the bullseye. Only the back half of the arrow was shown.
"WOAH!" Danny squealed. "You really are good!"
I gave him a sheepish smile. "Eh. Anyone can make a bullseye."
"Yeah but you didn't even think!" He added. "And that was a lot of power!"
"Yeah it was." Link walked over. Then, he knelt with a smirk on his face. "All hail the queen of archery."
