Chapter 33- The Hunger Games Finale

Okay I accidentally published it, and I know one person read it already (IM POINTING AT YOU JON) so hopefully no one else did because I wasn't finished.

The final part of the Hunger Deans! It's also extra long ;) and sorry it took a while to publish, I swear I work on it every day. It's just that long. And I barely previewed it.

~<>~

Recap:
-Kat and Jake are now hunting down Adam and Ty.
-Jordan, Mitch, Jerome, Vikk, Preston, Woofless, and 1 bot are still alive.

~<>~

~Kat's POV~

We kept chasing them until dark. It should've been hard to see them, but I still could. It was like their bright parts of their clothing were shining brighter than usual.

We had them heading toward a dock. They ran through an archway, and into a wooden dock next to a small lake.

"You'll never catch me!" Adam jumped into the water. Ty followed after him.

"Awww look at them trying to escape." I pointed as they started swimming.

"Shame you got a bow." Jake shook his head.

"What?" I asked innocently.

He stared at me.

"Haha, just kidding." I took out my bow. "Got like 11 arrows."

"Make em count." Jake gestured toward them, while they were swimming away.

I notched an arrow and pointed it at Adam, who turned around to look at us. I let it go, and Adam dove down to avoid it.

I kinda felt bad. We pretty much had them trapped, and they were stuck.

Nevertheless, I notched another one. I aimed at Ty, who kept swimming. The arrow sailed. A cannon went off as Ty disintegrated.

"Dang it Ty!" Adam said as he resurfaced. He took a deep breath and dove down again.

"Can you see him?" Jake squinted at the water. He turned around for a second to check if anyone was coming.

I looked at the water. I could still see Adam's swimming figure, going to the left.

"You can't?" I notched my final arrow.

Jake sighed. "Just shoot him."

I let go of the arrow. It sailed into the water, and a cannon went off.

We waited a little bit, but Adam never resurfaced.

"Nice shot." Jake finally said.

"Thanks." I looked up at the dark sky. "Should we go killing again or wait?"

Jake thought. "Let's wait."

~<>~

We chilled out on a steep hill near the docks. The simulator didn't give us the need to sleep, so we just stared at the sky. It was just like the real one, and Jake assumed that they projected the real one.

"I like that one." Jake pointed to a big star. The North Star.

"I like dat one." I pointed to another one.

"Where?" Jake asked.

"Over there. Right next to the left of the Moon."

"That small one?"

"Ye."

Right next to the moon was probably the smallest star possible. It looked like a small tiny speck.

"Why?" Jake asked. "You can barely see it."

"But it's still there." I sighed. "It's probably the biggest star of them all. But we don't know that because we don't know how far away it is. And we just assume it's tiny. Yet, no matter what we say, it's still there."

"That was deep." Jake noted after a minute.

"Sorry." I laughed. "My bad."

"Nah. It's cool."

All of a sudden, a giant hologram popped up, facing downward. It almost took up most of the sky. It was pure white for a second, shining everywhere. Then, words popped up.

"'Congratulations for making it this far.'" I read.

Jake read the next one. "'From now on, people are allowed to drop supply drop chests, containing an item that you might need.'"

"Sweet!" I said. "And now, a list of the eliminated people, in order by name."

Images of people started flashing on the screen. First, Adam's image popped up on the screen, saying 'killed by Kat with arrow'. Then Gordon (uh oh) 'killed by BajanCanadian with iron sword.' Ian was killed by Mitch with a stone sword, Infinity was killed by Mitch with an iron sword ("Crap." Jake said.), Jon was killed by Vikk with an arrow, Lachlan was killed by Skye with a stone sword, Skye was killed by Vikk with a stone sword, and Ty was killed by me with arrows. Then 7 bots showed up. Names showed what they were killed by and who they were killed by, but I was thinking too hard to care.

"'Happy Hunger Games!'" Jake read as the hologram shut off.

"So," I spoke. "It's us, Mitch, Jerome, Jordan, Preston, Vikk, Woofless, and a bot left."

"9 people left." Jake nodded. "About third of what we started with."

"5 more deaths until we can go to the death match." I noted.

"Yep."

~<>~

"THAT WAS UNCALLED FOR!" I screamed.

"ALLS FAIR IN THE HUNGER GAMES." Rob shouted back.

Rob and Vikk had teamed up, and had snuck up on us in the morning. They could've killed us, but instead they both threw eggs at us, causing us to fall down the hill. Now we were at the bottom of the hill, and they were on top. They both had iron swords, and better iron gear than us.

"Yeah but that was just rude." Jake grumbled as he tried to get up. I chose to stay down, since I was really dizzy. I now felt bad for throwing that egg at Jake.

"We gotta go before they stop laughing." I finally knelt.

"Give me a moment." Jake groaned.

"Come on." I grabbed his shoulders, keeping him upright. For some reason, it affected him more than me.

"We're coming for you!!!" Vikk teased as they ran down.

"Let's go!" I pushed Jake to run. He finally snapped out of it, and we both sprinted away.

My mind pretty much went on auto. I didn't know where I was going, or if Jake was with me, or if they were behind me/us.

"The coliseum!" I heard Jake say. He was right next to me.

We ran to the coliseum. An arrow zoomed past me.

"Fight us like men!" I heard Rob say.

"I'm a girl!" I shouted. "And even if we did, we'd lose! Go girls!"

(As Infinity and Abby watched Kat say that, they shouted in approval. Everyone else either rolled their eyes or shook their heads.)

"I find that offensive!" Jake said as we entered the tunnel.

"Just shut up!" I groaned.

We just exited through the tunnel, when we halted. In the middle, Mitch and Jerome were stacked. They both had iron armor, only Jerome had chain booties. Mitch was holding an enchanted bow, and Jerome was crafting from the high table. Jerome swiped the screen, and held a diamond axe. Really?

"Betty!" Mitch yelled, and Jerome and him laughed.

"This way." Jake whispered. He pulled me to the left, near the wall.

"Where—" but then I saw it. A ladder. Leading up to the stands.

We had just climbed up the ladder and hid behind a column when Vikk and Rob showed up.

"Hey!" They said, running in blindly.

Mitch and Jerome looked their way.

"Hey guys!" Mitch waved.

"Hi." Vikk said awkwardly. "I see ya got Betty?"

"Yep." Jerome waved his axe.

"Honorable duel?" Rob braced his sword.

"Honorable duel." Mitch nodded. "3...2...1...Go!"

As they raced toward each other, Jake moved. "Let's leave."

"Nah nah." I said, stopping him. "I wanna see this."

He sighed. "Then we can at least go somewhere safer."

We moved around the circle as they fought. No one has died yet, no one got hurt, and no one was fighting anyone in particular. But as they fought, I had to admire their tricks. They were spinning, doing flips, and dodging like ninjas. I saw Vikk swing at Mitch, and Mitch did a backflip to avoid the blade. Rob kicked off a block to spin sideways to get closer to Jerome, crossing blades with him as he landed.

"Riiiight here." I sat down.

"Oh my Notch." Jake face palmed.

I was sitting on a gold throne. It was designed for a king to overlook the battles, and I had a great view.

"Come sit." I scooted over and patted the seat. Jake rolled his eyes and sat down.

It was now clear that Merome was winning (Mitch and Jerome). They were better geared, and were better fighters. But it was still a good fight. All of them were hurt. Maybe even a one shot kill.

"Hiyah!" Jerome sliced 'Betty' into Rob's side. Rob disintegrated.

"Damn!" Vikk screamed (I gasped). He threw his sword at Jerome. Jerome tried to dodge it, but it sank into his arm. He fell to one knee.

Vikk no longer had a melee weapon, and pulled out his bow. But before he could notch an arrow, Mitch destroyed him.

"Dang." I said. Jake shushed me.

Jerome pulled out the sword, winced, and tossed it away.

Then something happened. I knew I needed to do nothing. I took out my bow and an arrow.

"What are you doing?" Jake hissed.

I notched the arrow, aimed it at Jerome, and let go. When it was midway, I yelled, "HEY JEY-ROME!"

The bacca looked up and saw the arrow. He just said, "Oh f—" when the arrow hit his forehead, and he disintegrated.

"No!" Mitch yelled. He looked at us and narrowed his eyes. Then, he picked up Betty and ran away.

I notched another arrow, and aimed at him. But Jake pushed my bow down. "No."

"What?" I asked, a little annoyed. "I could've gotten him."

"This is for fun. Cleaning up isn't fun. Especially when your opponent is one shot."

"It would've been fun for me." I grumbled. "Let's just get the loot."

We were maxed iron. Iron gear (except helmets. I made sure that we don't have helmets.) , and iron weapons. Well, Jake got an iron weapon. He found another ingot. He offered to give it to me, but I just took the power 1 bow. So I did the parkour (which I'm good at, apparently.) and made him a sword.

"Stinks you don't have one." Jake said.

"Eeehhhhh I got this." I waved the bow.

Then, a thud made us jerk around. On the ground behind us was a silver chest.

"Supply drop." Jake's eyes widened.

"Who for?" I walked up to it. On the top was a note. "'To Kat, kick some butt for us! Love, Infinity, Abby, Skye, Jon, and Charlie. Oh, and Gordon. P.S. It's Infinity, and Gordon is injured.' Huh."

"What's inside?" Jake asked.

"Lemme see." I opened the chest. "Naaahhhhh!!!!"

"What is it?" Jake asked anxiously.

"Well Jake." I grinned. "You may have an iron sword, but I... have two diamonds."

"Seriously?!"

"Seriously." I picked up the diamonds from the chest and showed them to him.

"Why must you always show me up." Jake sighed. I shrugged innocently, still grinning.

I ran over to the parkour. It was just a few simple jumps that I nailed easily. When I got to the top, I got the two diamonds and a stick, and crafted the sword.

"Hmm..." I looked at it. "I like my fire sword, but this will do."

"That'll do, Kat. That'll do." Jake said.

I jumped off, landing on one of the leave pillars. "PARKOUR!" I jumped to the ground.

"Jeez, girl." Jake grumbled.

"'Jeez girl.'" I mocked.

A cannon went off.

"Wonder who that was." I thought out loud.

"Well," Jake said. "It's either the last bot, Jordan, Mitch, or Preston."

"Then that means one more person until death match." I scrunched my eyebrows.

"Until someone wins. Which is gonna be me." Jake smirked.

"No me." I said like a little kid.

"No, I will."

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"Yes."

"NO NO NO!" I shouted, and ran away.

"YES!" I heard Jake say behind me.

We ran out of the coliseum. I had no idea where we were going. But we were just running.

"Where are you going?!" Jake said.

"I don't know!" I replied.

But then I saw something in the grass. A chest. But not a regular chest. A silver one.

"Wait." I slowed to a jog, and stopped in front of the chest. "Someone's supply drop."

"Is there a note?" Jake asked as he jogged up to me. He scanned the chest, and the surrounding area. Then, he picked something off the ground. "Here it is. 'Beware of Kat. Win this thing. You can do this.' And then it says it's from someone named Mastermind."

I choked on nothing. "Mastermind?"

That was the guy from the restaurant. How was he here? Well, not here, but how did he know whoever he gave the supply drop to? And who did he give it to? And what did he give them?

"Yeah." Jake frowned. "Looks like a new guy has joined in on the fun. Do you know him?"

"NO." I said, too quickly.

"Well that was an obvious no." Jake sighed for like the millionth time. "Kat, you keep too many secrets. Who is he?"

"Speak for yourself." I stuck my tongue out at him. "And I don't know. I just met him at the restaurant. He knows who I am, but I don't know him."

"Are you sure?"

"Positive. Are you sure?"

"About...?"

"I dunno." I shrugged.

"Oh. Well yes."

"Positive?"

"Yes."

"Sure you're positive?"

"No."

"Oh."

Then, a different voice spoke.

"No wonder everyone ships you two."

I swung around to see who said that. CaptainSparklez, aka Jordan, was leaning against a tree about 30 blocks away. He was smirking.

"Wat." I said.

"You guys would make a good couple." He said, grinning.

Jake cleared his throat. "Um... no."

I would've taken offense to that, but I kinda agreed with him. "Yeah, I'm bad with romance and flirting. What are flirting."

Jordan laughed. He then took out his diamond sword.

"You sure you can handle a 2v2?" Jake took out his iron sword.

"Yeah." I agreed. Then, I quickly took out my sword as well, to look cool.

"I think I can manage." Jordan grinned. He took out a few slowballs and threw them at us. Jeez, what's with people and balls? (I had to put it in)

There were multiple projectiles, but I managed to dodge most. Not all of them. I got hit by one, as well as Jake. We were both slow.

"Nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu....!" I said dramatically. It works with the slowness.

Jordan chuckled. He started walking toward us. We slowly walked back. He pulled out his bow and notched an arrow.

"Eenie meenie..." He aimed the bow at us. "Miney...." He pointed it at me. "Mo."

"Daaaanng." My shoulders slumped.

He let the arrow fly. I tried to move out of the way, but it sank into my shoulder. I winced. The arrow was there, in my skin, but it didn't feel very painful. Kinda like a weird vibration, coming from the puncture. I also realized that even though I had iron armor, the arrow still went through it. It's as if no matter what armor you have, it's still useless. Just for show.

"Kaaaaaaat...!" Jake reached out to me.

Okay, that is so cool. It's so dramatic with the slowballs. Oh wait, I'm about to fake die. Right.

"Oh...kay... out.. you. go." As I talked, I could feel myself getting less slow. I pulled out the arrow, just as Jordan started running forward.

I doubted Jake was finished being slow, and I understood that I was one good hit from dead, but I charged anyways.

Jordan's sword crossed with mine. I tried to keep a pokerface, and his expression was in concentration. I only just realized that this was my first fight. Jake was always there to get rid of the opponent, but this time, I was protecting him. This is all me now. Only, I didn't know many moves.

Jordan started putting his weight into his sword. I backed up a few steps, but I realized that he put me out of my steady stance. I shoved my sword to the side, taking his with it. I swung my sword, but he sliced it away. He tried to stab me, but I moved sideways.

"Kat, move, away!" I heard Jake behind me.

I didn't move. I glanced at Jake's way, knowing that he just didn't want me to get hurt. But I was fine.

Jordan kept swiping and stabbing at me. His main technique was just to keep charging, he was mostly offensive. No tricks. Hmm.... maybe I can use my own tricks.

I remember the first thing Jake taught me, that I actually was good with. Knocking your opponent off balance.

Jordan and I crossed swords again, and I studied his stance. He was leaning forward, putting all of his weight on the front of his feet.

I slid down and sliced at his feet. He jumped, but I immediately changed directions, so when he was on the ground again, my sword cut into his right (my left) foot, and he fell down. I pointed my sword at his chest, daring him to move.

"Well played." He smiled. "Go ahead."

I hesitated. It still felt wrong to kill someone, even in a simulator. Plus, he would take two hits, which would make it worse.

I got out my bow, and shot him in the forehead, making him look like a unicorn (Infinity nodded her head in approval).

I pulled out another arrow, but in my hesitation, Jordan grabbed his sword. He backed away and got up, but as soon as he did, another sword appeared. In his chest. Jordan disintegrated. The cannon went off.

I turned and saw Jake breathing heavily. "This is a very tough simulator."

I nodded.

All of a sudden, a hologram appeared right above the coliseum.

Deathmatch Counter Begins: 4:56

The time was going down. A countdown.

"Didn't they say that the chests were refilled?" Jake asked.

I nodded again. "Get his sword. Let's go."

~<>~

There wasn't really anything interesting in the chests. There was iron armor, and Jake finally got me to put on a helmet, and just a few extra materials. We got a diamond, and I suggested making a shovel. Jake said no, being the party pooper he is.

But there was an enchantment table, right next to the crafting table. And enchantment bottles in the chest. They gave us experience, which we could use to enchant.

"I'm so getting shiny." I said.

"Same." Jake smiled.

We parkoured up to the enchantment table. Turns out, Jake is really good at it. There was 2 minutes left, so we had enough time to get shiny.

Jake placed his chestplate on the table, and closed his eyes. The book on the table exerted some kind of light purple wisps, and they covered the chestplate. Jake put it back on.

"Protection." He grinned.

We spent the rest of the time enchanting. I got full protection, except for the pants. Those were projectile protection.

"Dang it I wanted to protect the pants." I muttered. Jake laughed.

We looked up. The countdown was at 30 seconds.

"What if it comes down to us?" Jake asked.

"Then I slaughter you." I said, staring at the sky.

"What?!" He said, making me laugh and look at him.

"I'm kidding. But I'm still going to win."

"In your dreams, Moone."

Oh yeah. I forgot I had a last name.

"How come I'm the only person with a last name?"

Jake frowned. "Well,—"

An arrow cut through my arm. It just barely skinned me, but still "hurt". I was still "hurt" from before, so it "hurt" even more. "Hurt".

I looked down and saw Preston with a bow in his hands, right by the tunnel entrance. He notched another arrow, and aimed it at me.

"Preston stop!" I said, holding up a hand.

He lowered the bow. "Why?!"

I glanced at the timer. 6 seconds left.

"To stall." I grinned.

Preston realized it, and aimed and shot the arrow at me.

I stupidly stood there as the arrow came at me.

1...

The arrow was a block in front of me when everything faded away. I was floating in white nothingness.

Then, the ground started generating. It was stone, stone bricks, and obsidian in an intricate pattern. I was in a stone pod thing like before. When the ground stopped solidifying, it was a giant circle. There were some columns of stone, and little mounts for obstacles. I looked around and saw stands all around on the other side of a cliff leading to a giant lava pit below. I was in a death coliseum.

"Kat!" Jake yelled.

I turned and saw him in a pod to my front left. Preston was on my right, and I could guess that it was Mitch at the other end.

"Deathmatch will com— YEAH, GO KAT AND JAKE! Infinity shut up! Let him finish! No you let him finish!"

"What...." I said. So many confusing voices.

"I LOVE YOU GUYS! Give me the mic!" A throat was cleared. "Okay then. Deathmatch will comm— WOOO!" Infinity interrupted again. He quickly finished. "Deathmatch-will-commence-in-5-4-3-2-1-GO! GO KAKE!!!!"

I chuckled as I ran to Jake. Oh, only Infinity.

"So what's the plan?" Jake exhaled as I go to him.

"Mitch! Team!" Preston shouted.

"Definitely dood!" They ran to each other.

"Ummmm kill them?" I suggested, unsure what to do.

"Good answer." Jake took out his sword.

"Jake I'm 'injured'." I notified him.

"I'll protect you."

I rolled my eyes. "Birch please."

"What?"

"Nothing. Here they come!"

Preston and Mitch ran over, both with bows. They stopped in the middle, and notched arrows.

"Imma shoot at them. You block their arrows." I got my bow out as well as an arrow.

"Gotcha." Jake braced his sword.

They both shot arrows at the same time. They came soaring through the air. Jake blocked one and the other barely missed me. I could've dodged it, but I automatically knew it wouldn't hit when Mitch let go.

I aimed at Preston and let go. He rolled to the left to avoid it, coming up on one knee and aiming again.

It went like that for a while. They shot, Jake blocked, I shot. I had to move a few times, but we still kept our distance, about 50 blocks. By this time, I was pretty much healed.

Then, the fatal mistake happened. Jake was hit. He tried to block an arrow from me, but got hit in the forearm. He cursed and pulled it out.

Preston and Mitch took that moment to attack. They grabbed their blades and charged.

Wait a second. Mitch has a diamond chestplate. What?! Where'd he get that from?! Was it the supply drop? The one from mastermind?

"Okay, stay here." I gestured at Jake while looking at the team. "If I need help, come help."

"But—"

"Bye!" I ran forward, hoping that Jake wasn't following.

I clashed swords with Mitch as Preston ran to the side. He tried to stab my hip, but I jerked back to avoid it. I swung at Mitch again, but he easily avoided it. These guys were playing with me. They could probably kill me at any point, but either they were playing with me, or they were being generous.

Jake decided to join in at that point. He fought with Mitch, and I faced Preston. I kept trying to push him back so there was distance from the two fights.

From there I was on autopilot. I didn't know what moved I were doing, but all I knew was that Preston stopped holding back, and hit me hard.

A yelp rang out. I dared to glance back and saw that Jake got a lucky shot. He stabbed Mitch's side, and pulled out his sword. But Mitch decided that was enough. He punched Jake in the gut, and kicked away his sword.

I ran to their fight, but it was too late. Mitch sliced at Jake with the diamond axe,and he disintegrated. His cannon went off as his stuff dropped.

Now, I should've felt upset. I mean, this weakened my chance of winning by 99%. But I was more annoyed than angry.

"Seriously?" I groaned.

Mitch grinned at me. "Sorry Kat."

"Oh you'll be sorry." I grumbled. Instead of running to him, or to Preston, I ran to the side. Toward the edge of the platform.

When I was on the edge, I taunted them. "Come get me you weenies!"

Preston ran forward first, crossing swords with me. I needed to get him over the edge into the lava. That was my plan, anyways.

I turned so we were both fighting with the edge to our left. Then, I quickly jumped to the right, and kicked Preston backwards. He tried to regain his balance, but I poked his chest, and he fell.

"You pleb!" He shouted as he fell.

His cannon went off a few seconds after he hit the lava.

I was exhausted. I didn't think that I could be, in a simulator, but I was. I stuck my sword tip in the ground and leaned on it as Mitch and I had a stare down.

"So I guess it's just us." I said.

He nodded. "Congrats on getting second place."

"Who said I wasn't going to win?" I raised an eyebrow.

Mitch smirked. "I always win. Some people say it's boring to play with me, considering everyone knows I will win. Sometimes Jerome wins, though, when we're goofing off."

"Well prepare to have that record broken in a few minutes after I bother to move."

He laughed and took out his bow. "Sorry dood."

When he shot at me, I moved out of the way. He ran forward, and we clashed. I swung at his feet and he jumped, stabbing downward. I rolled out of the way and stumbled to my feet. I felt tired.

He kept coming at me, but he tried to hit me with his fist. I moved backwards, closer to the edge. I doubted Mitch would be tricked like Preston, but it was worth a try.

He kicked me in the stomach.

"Dude." I grunted. "Stop."

"Never." He grinned and swung at me.

I ducked and punched him in the abdomen. He flew back about 10 blocks, still on his feet.

I was amazed, and Mitch was as well. "Dood, how did you do that?"

"Kat, smash!" (<> Please get the Hulk reference<>) I ran forward.

We met again, fighting. Mitch had tons of tricks, using his fists, feet, axe, and just rolling and jumping. I only knew how to use my sword. And my bow...

While I thought, he caught me off-guard and knocked my sword out of my hand, it landing far away. I tried to recover, but he punched me in the face. This time, it actually hurt. Like, actually punching-in-the-face hurting, and not just a vibration. I flew on my back from whiplash.

"I call hacks." I groaned. "That hurt."

He narrowed his eyes, but didn't say anything. He walked forward slowly, either examining me, or coming in for the kill. Probably kill.

I took out my bow and aimed an arrow at him, but he sliced the arrow in half before I let go. He then knocked the bow out of my hand.

"Bro!" I gasped.

He chuckled. "I always win."

(<>CLICHE MOMENT<>)

At that moment, I felt a surge of energy. I don't know if it was magic, refusal to die, or just wanting to run it in Mitch's face. But I felt renewed. I felt ready. I felt awesome.

When he struck downward with his axe, I jerked forward and grabbed his hand, halting his movement. He looked at me in a "are you serious" way, as I shoved him backwards. I jumped to my bow, grabbing it as I rolled. I quickly notched an arrow as I got up, and shot at Mitch. He practically did the limbo to avoid it, and I grabbed my sword to charge forward.

This was a game, I reminded myself. There was room for chances, for errors, for trying new tricks.

I put my bow away, and pulled out an arrow. I charged at Mitch, tossed the arrow in the air, and hit it with my sword, propelling it toward Mitch (<>like tennis<>). He was barely able to block it in time. I ran forward, looking like I was charging, but at the last second I jumped to the left, slicing at his side. He stumbled back, and literally growled.

"Come at me bro." I gave my biggest innocent smile and spread my arms. I felt happy. I felt good.

He narrowed his eyes again and pulled out his bow. This time, he grabbed two arrows, and shot them at the same time. I lunged forward in between them as they sailed past. I did a somersault in front of Mitch, crossing swords with him, me on one knee and him standing.

"Hello." I said casually as he tried to shove me.

"Hi." He gritted his teeth and launched himself back. He ran across the middle, and pulled something out. A gold apple.

"Wow." I said as he ate it. Real rude.

So he would have regeneration. So he would be fully healed. But it wouldn't matter. I knew I will win.

I pulled out my bow once again and ran up a mount, jumping off. Mid-air, I aimed at Mitch who was still running, and shot. The arrow sailed, and hit his back. He stumbled forward, falling to the ground right by the edge of the platform. His axe fell off the edge into the lava below.

I felt so awesome, until I realized I was still in the air. I can't sugar coat it, I fell on my face. But I quickly got up and ran toward Mitch.

He was on the ground on his back, leaning up since the arrow was still in his sternum.

"So we changed positions." I said.

He grunted. "Guess so."

I really didn't want to end him with my sword. I never liked the idea of puncturing someone to death by melee fight.

Nevertheless, I closed my eyes and struck downward. I didn't open them until a cannon went off. Mitch's items weren't on the ground. They were gone. And for some reason, the time was now night.

Everything was quiet. But only for a second. All of a sudden, a 'wheeee' sound was heard. Then, the sky was lit up with a blue firework. Another one went off, and it was red. Then purple. Then green. Soon, there were fireworks everywhere.

"Congratulations to Katherine, the winner of the Hunger Games!"

Cheering came from nowhere, disembodied voices that I didn't recognize. It felt kind of creepy. But great.

I lifted my sword, grinning at the sky for a few seconds. Then, everything disappeared.

~<>~

I jerked forward as I heard applause. I was back in the white room. Everyone was there, clapping. I grinned and pulled off my helmet and got out of my seat.

"That was awesome!" Abby punched me in the shoulder.

"GG Kat." Adam laughed.

"I would've won if Mitch didn't kill me," Infinity glared at Mitch, "but I'm glad you did."

"I'm not surprised." Jake said. "You said you wouldn't, after all."

"Good job Kat." Mitch smiled. I could tell he was butt hurt about losing, but he'd get over it.

"I can't believe you beat the champ." Jerome shook his head, grinning.

"I can." Charlie grinned. "You were great."

Everyone congratulated me, which felt weird. It was only a game.

"Nice job." A single voice rang out.

I turned and saw Mastermind leaning against the wall.

"You..." I narrowed my eyes dramatically.

"Me..." He said the same way.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"He's my apprentice." Mitch informed.

"Oh." I frowned. "Huh. So not a creepy stalker?"

"Not a creepy stalker."

Just then, I remembered something.

"Where's Gordon?" I asked.

"Oh." Infinity laughed. "He sold me out."

She and Abby moved so I could see. Gordon was lying on the couch with a black eye. When he saw me, he grinned, revealing a missing tooth.

"Hi Kat. I keep getting hurt."

OH MY NOTCH IM FINALLY DONE *collapses*

But that's probably the last intense action sequence in this book. I have a few more chapters to go, so they are mostly going to be funny or filler chappys.

Now I gotta preview all of this *sigh*. I'll probably only do half of it, so this is a late apology for the craziness.

Question: In the next book, would you like more action, more romance, more drama, or more comedy? There's already going to be more adventure, so don't worry about that.

Rock on, my little rebels.
