The great escape
Jason frowns whilst thinking, suddenly his face lights up,
"I might have an idea, here." He says before taking off his cloaks and giving it to Ruairi to wear, exposing his face with scales and fangs, his back with his large wings and his tail. Ruairi holds the bundle of cloaks looking at the cloaks with distaste. He puts the cloaks on my bed and Jason looks at Ruairi with judgement.
"Actually, I think I have an idea" Ruairi says as he puts his hat on. "What if I start a small fire over that hill to distract the villagers so I can sneak out" says Ruairi.
"You should really put on those cloaks if you want to come with us" says Jason.
"But their not really my colour that's all" argues Ruairi.
"It doesn't matter, it's still a better plan than lighting another fire" Jason debates.
"I said it would only be a small fire" says Ruairi.
"It doesn't make a difference, all fires spread and I'm half dragon, I know all about it" says Jason.
"I'm a fire bender, I know way more about fire than you" argues Ruairi.
"Seriously, just put the cloaks on!" Exclaims Jason. They continue arguing and I know I'm going to have to choose between them. Ruairi's idea will attract attention away from us while Jason's idea will attract attention to us. But Ruairi's idea might set my house on fire. This is a tough decision.
In the end, I decide I don't want my house getting burnt down by accident. So I go with Jason's idea. Ruairi and Jason are still arguing.
"Those cloaks smell like dragon dung!" Yells Ruairi.
"How dare you! These cloaks belonged to my mother!" Yelled Jason.
"Guys! Shut Up!" I yell. They both go quiet.
"We're going with Jason's idea" I say guiltily that I didn't go with Ruairi's idea.
"Good call, Louis" smiles Jason. Ruairi looks down at me and says,
"I believe in you Louis, no matter what choices you make. But if this doesn't work!" Says Ruairi reluctantly putting the cloaks on.
"Well? How do I look?" Asks Ruairi.
"Umm..." I say.
"That's seriously, all you've got to say? Umm?!" Says Ruairi.
There's an awkward silence around the house.
"I'll pack my things then!" I say in a happy up beat voice trying relieve the tension. Ruairi and Jason walk out of my room and wait outside my house.
"Okay, then, what should I pack?" I whisper to myself. First of all I sling my bag over my shoulder. I open the flap and put my book in. It was an empty book which I've had for years not knowing what to fill it with, but I know that this adventure is surely going inspire me. Next I pack a packet of pencils as well as a sharpener and eraser. Next I pack a large tin of biscuits, sweet cakes and slices. I sling a sleeping bag over my back and I'm ready. Yet there is still room for one more thing in my bag.
"Ummmmm" I whisper. From outside the door I can hear Jason say,
"We haven't got all day! Louis!"
"Oooooooooohh!!! What should I pack?! What should I pack?" I say a bit stressed.
I spin around and see a mini record player with a bunch of miniature vinyls. I decide to pack those. Then I quickly rip a page out of my book and write a message. I take one last look around my house knowing I'll be away for a long time. I walk out the door and stick the message to my door.
"Ready?" Asks Jason.
"Ready" I reply. We walk away leaving the message on the door behind.
My Dear Fellow, Hobbits,
I am going away, for a long time, and I don't know when I'll be
back. Yet know this; I'm not dead! I will eventually come back
and don't dare rob me or go in my house while I'm gone!
Sincerely, Louis C.
The three of us walk down the gravel road and through town. Two very tall people really do draw attention fast. Immediately, one of the Hobbits point at us and yell,
"There's the fire starter!"
"Run!" Yells Jason. The three of us start running but Ruairi trips over. Jason and I help him up.
"I can't run in this thing! I told you this was a bad idea!" Yells Ruairi. Ruairi quickly takes the cloaks off and gives them back to Jason which attracts even more attention. The angry mob reunites and charges at us!
"Run!" I scream at the top of my lungs. As we run through the streets, rotten vegetables are thrown at us from both sides of the road. I cover my head with my hands.
Then when we're out of the streets we stop at the farms to catch our breathe. We all start panting with exhaustion. The farms are growing fresh food and vegetables as well as wheat which we could use to make bread later. Should we take some food from the farm?
