Chapter 8

*Isabella's P.O.V*

The next morning, I got woken up at about 6:30 in the morning so Aimee could give me some more painkillers. After I took them, she went off to get me some breakfast and as she left, Mum came in with a coffee for herself.

"Hey, Sleeping Beauty." She smiled.

"Hey." I mumbled sleepily.

"Did you sleep okay?" She asked.

"Yeah, I guess." I replied.

"That's good. Dad should be bringing the kids over soon." She told me, "He says the little ones have missed you." She added, which made me smile. Aimee soon came back with my breakfast, which was porridge. I wasn't the biggest fan of porridge, but I hadn't eaten since yesterday, so I wasn't complaining.

"Thanks." I smiled at Aimee as she placed the bowl of porridge and a glass of orange juice on the portable table that she'd just wheeled in front of me.

"So, um, when will you be getting Isabella's cast sorted out?" Mum asked.

"Around 10:00, I'd say, then we'll just make sure she's comfortable with using the crutches and then once the doctor's discharged her, she'll be free to go." Aimee explained, while me and Mum listened and took everything in. That didn't seem like too long of a wait, which was good. Before long, Dad arrived with Emilia and Eduardo.

"Hey, princess." Dad smiled softly at me.

"Hi, daddy." I smiled back.

"Izzy!" My little siblings yelled as they ran into the room.

"Hello, monkeys." I smiled, as they I lifted them both onto my bed.

"Be careful of her bad leg, guys." Mum warned the children.

"It's fine, Mum." I assured her.

"I made you this!" Emilia beamed, handing me a pink sheet of A4 paper that she'd drawn on.

"And I helped!" Eduardo chirped.

"See, that's you in your hospital bed, and that's me and Wardo and Mummy and Daddy and the puppies standing by the bed, and then there's hearts and stars around us all." She explained what was happening in the drawing to me.

"Thank you, Milia. It's beautiful." I smiled, "And thank you, Wardo." I pulled them both into a hug, before they wriggled out of my grip. They soon wanted to get off the bed so Dad lifted them both onto the floor. Emilia then complained that she was hungry so Mum and Dad took the kids to get something from the hospital cafe, leaving me in my own company. Well, I was only my own for a bit as there was soon a knock at the door and Harvey popped his head in.

"Mind if I come in?" He asked.

"Go ahead." I smiled and so he stepped into the room.

"How are you feeling?" He gave me a smile so soft and caring, I thought I would melt.

"Pretty good." I shrugged, not really knowing what else to say.

"You look tired." He stated, a small frown falling over his face, "Did you sleep okay?"

"Yeah, it's just the painkillers are making me feel and look sleepy." I explained, a small smile on my face. He seemed so concerned about my well being and that just made me so happy.

"How much have they given you?" He wondered.

"Quite a lot." I chuckled, "But I'd rather be drugged up on morphine than be in agonising pain."

"That's understandable." Harvey said with a small laugh.

"Where are Max and Hailee?" I questioned, only just noticing they were not present.

"Hailee couldn't make it and Max is in the bathroom." He explained, before his face lit up as if he'd just remembered something and he reached into his pocket, "I got you this." He pulled out a small, cream coloured teddy bear with a little yellow nose, a yellow bow around it's neck and it was holding a yellow heart that read 'Get Well Soon' in red writing.

"I would've gotten you one of those giant teddy bears, but this was all I could afford." He told me, blushing faintly.

"Harvey," I gasped, covering my mouth in delight as I took the adorable little teddy bear from him, "I love it."

"You do?" He asked, as if he was expecting me to hate it. I nodded.

"I love it so much." I smiled, "Thank you."

"No problem." He smiled back, bending down to give me a hug. I took a risk and pecked him on the cheek as he pulled away, as nothing but a friendly gesture, of course. I still found myself blushing furiously after my lips left his cheek and I saw Harvey was blushing as well. Luckily, the door opened at that very moment and I'd never been happier to see Max, because that could've gotten rather awkward.

"Hey, how's the patient?" Max asked in a singsong voice as he sauntered in.

"She's alright." I giggled.

"Glad to hear it- Oh, was I interrupting something?" Max soon noticed the looks one mine and Harvey's faces.

"No, no, not at all." Harvey shook his head.

"Everything's fine." I added.

"Okay..." Max narrowed his eyes at us as if he wasn't convinced. Mum, Dad and the kids soon returned to the room and they now had Sara, Paul, Leo and Tilly with them.

"Hey, Isabella, how are you doing?" Sara asked me.

"I'm doing alright, thanks, Mrs. Mills." I smiled.

"What colour cast are you going to get?" Tilly asked.

"At least asked how she is first, Tills." Leo said.

"It's okay." I chuckled, "And I'm not sure what colour I'll get yet."

"You should get pink." Tilly told me.

"I said that!" Emilia squealed, before they started talking about pink things and whatever else little girls talk about.

"Where did you get that bear from, Bells?" Mum asked me, as I was still holding Harvey's bear.

"Harvey got it for me." I said, smiling at the memory even though it only happened, like, fifteen minutes ago.

"I didn't know you bought her anything, Harv." Paul stated.

"Well, I didn't want to say anything in case it got...awkward." Harvey shrugged.

"You didn't want us to think you were buying a gift for your girlfriend, even though that's exactly what you were doing, basically." Max said with a smirk, which made both me and Harvey turn red.

"She's not my girlfriend, nimrod." Harvey hissed, "I just thought it would be a nice gesture, that's all."

"For your girlfriend." Leo giggled, making Max high-five him.

"Stop teasing them, guys." Mum chuckled. Thankfully, the two boys listened and did as they were told, but I had a feeling that wouldn't be the last time they'd tease Harvey and I. It wasn't long after that when Aimee came in and only then did I realise it was 10:00 already.

"You ready to have your cast put on?" She asked me with a smile. I just nodded and about five minutes later, the cast technician came in. I decided to go with a purple cast, so after I chose the colour he started putting it on my ankle. It only took about ten or fifteen minutes.

"Looking good, Iz!" Dad said as he was vlogging. I just giggled.

"It does look pretty cool." Leo said.

"I still think you should've gone with pink." Tilly pouted.

"Me too." Emilia said. Me and the other adults/older kids just chuckled. Not long after getting my cast put on, I had to learn to use the crutches. I slowly swung my legs over the bed and started to stand up as Aimee handed me the crutches. I took one step and ending up losing my balance. Luckily, Harvey was stood right next to me and caught me before I toppled over.

"Steady." He chuckled, helping me regain myself. I laughed, a little embarrassed, and tried again. After a few more tries, I got used to the crutches and it was pretty easy to walk around.

The Mills family soon had to leave and they agreed to take Emilia and Eduardo home as they'd been complaining about being bored. I couldn't leave since the doctor hadn't discharged me yet.

"Bye, Iz." Harvey was the last one to say goodbye to me.

"Bye, Harves. See you when I get home. If I ever get to go home." I huffed. I was getting rather sick of this place.

"You'll be home before you know it." He assured me with a smile. I smiled back as he hugged me. We hugged for at least thirty seconds, until Max cleared his throat, clearly trying to make us feel uncomfortable. It worked as we both blushed and Harvey awkwardly ran to join his family.

Anyways, the Mills and Emilia and Eduardo soon left and I decided to get dressed in the clothes that Dad and the kids had bought over this morning. It was a pair of grey sweatpants with white drawstrings, a cropped blue camisole, my maroon off-the-shoulder sweatshirt with the word 'Love' written across the front in black cursive writing, white high-top converse and I put my hair into two braids. It wasn't the most glamorous outfit, but it was better than pyjamas and bedhead.

Eventually, I was discharged and we could go home. After thanking Aimee for being so nice to me, I hobbled out to the car with my crutches with Mum and Dad. I got in the backseat, while Mum got in the passenger's seat and Dad got in the driver's seat, but he didn't start the engine straight away, instead they both turned to me with dreadful looks on their faces.

"What?" I asked.

"We just want to speak to you before we go home." Dad said.

"About what?" I asked, "You're kinda scaring me now, guys."

"We've decided it'd be best to cancel the holiday. Or postpone it, at least. Just until your ankle heals." Mum told me.

"What?! No! Why?!" I yelled.

"You're in no fit state to be going to Disney World, Bells." Dad said.

"You need to rest, and it'll be a lot easier for you to do that in your own home, not on the other side of the world." Mum added.

"Fine, but why are you ruining things for Emilia and Eduardo?! They're so excited to go! Can't you just go and leave me behind?" I suggested. I didn't even care that I would be missing out, my little siblings were much more important.

"We can't leave you on your own for two weeks, Isabella." Mum said.

"We're sorry, but our decision is final." Dad said, before starting the engine and driving home. I was silent the entire ride home, absolutely dreading having to tell Emilia and Eduardo that I'd wrecked their holiday. Mum and Dad decided to tell them as soon as we got home, unfortunately.

"Now, kids, we know this might upset you, but it's not Izzy's fault, okay?" Dad began.

"What is it, Daddy?" Emilia asked.

"Well, it looks like we won't be able to go to Disney World this weekend." Dad said.

"Why not?!" Emilia began to cry, which then made Eduardo upset, making me feel even worse.

"Emilia, hey, don't cry! We can still go, we just have to wait for Isabella to get better first." Mum explained, pulling Emilia onto her lap.

"No! I wanna go on the weekend!" Emilia cried, wiggling out of Mum's grip, "I hate you, Izzy!" She shouted before running off.

"Emilia!" Mum and Dad called after her in a scolding way.

"I hate you, Izzy!" Eduardo then ran after Emilia. He was probably just copying what he'd heard her say, but it still hurt just as much.

"Iz..." Mum trailed off, guessing that I wouldn't be feeling the happiest right now.

"I'm fine, I just... I need some fresh air." I mumbled, going outside. As soon as I stepped out the door, I let the tears roll down my face. I hobbled out to the front garden and sat down on the short wall that separated our driveway from the Mills' driveway. I propped my crutches up next to me and pulled my uninjured leg up to my chest, resting my chin on my knee and letting the rest of my tears run free. I must've been sat there for about ten minutes, until I heard a front door open, making me jump. I looked over my shoulder to see Harvey shutting his front door behind him before he walked over to me.

"Hey," He spoke softly as he climbed over the wall and sat next to me, "I looked out my bedroom window and saw you out here. You wanna tell me what's wrong?" I sniffed a couple times and wiped my eyes, trying to pull myself together, before spilling to him about how Mum and Dad had cancelled the holiday because of me. I'd told him about Disney World beforehand so he knew what I was on about.

"I ruined one of the best holidays Emilia and Eduardo could've had and now they hate me." I finished, my lip trembling as I felt another set of tears coming on. Harvey pulled me into his arms, somehow knowing that was what I needed.

"I'm sure they don't hate you." He assured me.

"Yes, they do." I pulled away from the hug, "They both told me they did, in those exact words."

"They're just little kids, they probably don't even understand what they said." He claimed.

"Emilia definitely knows what the word hate means, at least, and for her to use it on me... It just really hurt, Harv. She's my little sister. I'm supposed to be the one that makes her smile, the one that she loves, but instead, she hates me, and she has every right to." I tried so hard to keep the sobs back, "I don't even care that I can't go to Disney World, I've been plenty of times. All I care about is the fact that I ruined it for my baby brother and sister."

"Come here." Harvey pulled me into his embrace for a second time and I gladly accepted. I wrapped my arms around his waist as I broke down.

*Harvey's P.O.V*

Seeing Isabella like this broke my heart. I'll admit, I've fallen for her since I met her and to see her so fragile and in tears... It wasn't a nice thing. If only I could tell her how I feel... But that was besides the point. I wish there was some way I could cheer her up; to fix things for her. We stayed in the same position for a while, arms wrapped around each other, until an idea popped into my head.

"Bells," I gently pulled away from her so I could look at her, "I think I have an idea."

"What?" She asked, her voice thick from crying.

"What if you stay at our place while you parents and the little ones go on holiday?" I suggested, "I mean, you won't get to go to Disney World, which sucks, but Emilia and Eduardo will still get their holiday."

"That's actually a really good idea." She said after thinking it over, "But do you think our parents will agree?"

"There's only one way to find out." I shrugged.

So, later that evening, we got both of our families together and explained our plan to them. After a lot, and I mean a lot of convincing, mostly of Anna and Jonathan, they finally agreed to let Isabella stay at our place for the next two weeks, which she was very happy about, as were Emilia and Eduardo as it meant they could go to Disney World this weekend.

"Looks like you'll have to put up with me for the next two weeks." Isabella grinned at me.

"I think I can live with that." I laughed.

"Thank you, Harvey. I mean, this was your idea." She said.

"Don't mention it." I smiled. She giggled, before wrapping her arms around my neck. I felt those familiar butterflies in my stomach as I wrapped my arms around her waist. I was definitely looking forward to the next two weeks.
