Chapter 4

*Isabella's P.O.V*

"You got me jumping like-"

I turned off my alarm with a groan. I've been waking up at 6:30am for at least two years now and you'd think I'd be used to it by now, but I still feel like death every morning because I'm so tired. I suppose that's my own fault for messing around on my phone for hours when I'm supposed to be asleep... Oops?

Anyway, I soon managed to drag myself out of bed and into my bathroom, where I had a quick shower. I used my avocado shampoo and conditioner and my cucumber bodywash, before turning the water off, stepping out of the shower and drying myself with my pastel yellow towel. I then went back into my bedroom and put on my school uniform. I made sure my hair was fully dry before putting it in a single fishtail braid.

Once I was ready, I made my way downstairs and said good morning to everyone, who were in the kitchen.

"Mum, did you wash my PE kit?" I asked as I sat down at the dining table with some honey on toast.

"Yep, I put it in your bag as well, it's out by the front door." She replied.

"Thanks." I smiled gratefully. Before long, the doorbell rang and I knew it was the boys. To be honest, I wasn't really looking forward to seeing Harvey after my discussion with Zoe last night. What if Harvey figures out I like him? What if I say something stupid? What if I do something stupid? Why am I having all of these thoughts all of a sudden?!

Okay, calm down, Izzy. Nothing's changed between you and Harvey since last night, you just realised you like-like him. Just play it cool and everything will be fine.

"Hey, Iz." Harvey smiled at me when I opened the front door, after saying goodbye to my family and grabbing my turquoise Adidas PE bag that had a shimmering water type pattern on.

"Hey, hello, hi, what's up?" So much for playing it cool...

"Hey, are you okay?" Max asked me, probably wondering why I was acting so strange.

"Yeah, yep, yes, I'm fine. I'm great. Why wouldn't I be? How are you guys?" I continued to ramble, awkwardly glancing at Harvey every so often, "Um, we should get going, we don't wanna miss the bus." I said, locking the door behind me. The sooner we got to school the sooner I could stop embarrassing myself. We all walked to the bus stop and the big seat at the back was taken so Harvey and I sat next to each other while Max sat in the seat behind us. As Harvey sat down next to me, my heartbeat sped up slightly and my palms began to sweat. God, what is wrong with me?! It's like, now that I've acknowledged the fact that I have a crush on Harvey, all my symptoms of having a crush have just increased immensely.

Luckily, the bus soon arrived at school and we went in.

"Uh, I'm just going to the little girl's room." I told the twins, before running off to the girl's bathroom. I found an empty stall and locked myself in, before taking out my phone and finding Zoe's contact. I couldn't go through the whole day acting like a total wacko whenever Harvey was around. I needed some expert advice on how to control my emotions. I FaceTimed Zoe and thank god she answered.

"Isabella? Aren't you supposed to be in class?" Zoe asked as soon as she picked up.

"Yeah, but it's only tutor time, I'm not missing much, and I really need your help." I practically begged.

"Is it about Harvey?" She guessed.

"Maybe..." I trailed off. Zoe smiled knowingly.

"Talk to Aunty Zoe." She said.

"I just can't function when he's around. Everything's so awkward all of a sudden. I just turn into a rambling, sweating, blushing mess when I see him." I explained, "Help me, Zoe, I really don't want my feelings to ruin our friendship!"

"Okay, calm down, it's okay," She began, "You just have to remember that he's still your friend. He's still the same guy he was the day you met him. Nothing's really changed, you just feel slightly differently about him." I processed what she told me before nodding.

"That might just work." I smiled, "Thanks, Zo."

"No problem. Now, get to class before you get into trouble." She said, pointing at me playfully.

"Okay." I giggled, "Bye, Zo."

"Speak to you soon, sweetheart." Zoe grinned, before I hung up. I then put my phone back in my pocket and left the bathroom.

"You're late, Miss SacconeJoly." Mr. Downs scolded as I walked into tutor time.

"I'm sorry, sir. I went to the bathroom and the stall door got stuck." I lied, "I managed to get it open though, obviously."

"Alright, but if you're late one more time, you'll be joining be for detention." He warned.

"Yes, sir." I nodded.

"Good, now, please sit down." He ordered. I obliged and went to sit down next to Harvey.

Just relax. He's still just Harvey. He's still just your dorky, weirdo of a best friend and there's no need to act like he's anything else. I reminded myself.

"Hey, you alright?" Harvey asked me with a half smile.

"Yeah, sorry about earlier. I had a weird start to the day." I explained.

"No worries. We all have those sometimes." He said with a small chuckle. I smiled. I could do this.

It was soon fifth period which meant we had double PE. Whoo! (In case you couldn't tell, I'm being sarcastic). There were only a couple of sports that I was good and that I actually liked and those were basketball, gymnastics and I kind of liked hockey but not as much, and if we weren't playing any of those, I automatically hated PE. Today we were doing wrestling and I was really not looking forward to it. I was pretty much a weakling and would undoubtedly embarrass myself.

"I don't wanna do PE." I groaned as the boys and I headed to the gym.

"Why not?" Max chuckled at me acting like a whiny child.

"I suck at wrestling." I pouted.

"Aw, I'm sure you're not that bad." Harvey said.

"You can't say that until you've seen it with your own eyes." I replied.

"Tell you what, why don't you and me partner up and then I'll tell you from experience how bad you actually are at wrestling?" Harvey suggested.

"Deal." I said, not really thinking much of it.

"See you in the gym, then, partner." Harvey winked at me. I just nodded and quickly went into the girl's changing rooms before he would notice I was blushing. We were allowed to wear our own sports clothes for PE, but they had to be red and black like our normal school uniforms. My PE kit usually consisted of a red sports t-shirt, black Nike leggings and pink, orange and yellow neon Nike trainers.

Once I was changed, I left the girl's changing room and went into the gym, where there were mats set up for wrestling. The twins were sat on one of the benches so I went and joined them until the lesson began. Basically the teacher, Mr. Groves showed us a move and we had to try it out on our partners. Max was partnered up with a girl named Hailee. I think her last name was Blackburn or Blackwood or something, but I'd never really spoken to her so I didn't know.

Anyway, Mr. Groves taught us a move where we had to put our foot behind our partner's foot and trip them up or something. I tried the move on Harvey but, of course, failed and he had me pinned against the mat in a matter of seconds. As soon as he pinned me down, butterflies swarmed my stomach and my heart started beating so fast and loud that I was actually worried Harvey himself would hear it. Maybe I should've thought it through a little better when I agreed to be his wrestling partner...

"Wow, you were right. You suck at wrestling." He teased with a smirk. I just playfully rolled my eyes. I could barely function with him lying on top of me. I mean, what would you do if your crush was this close to you? I kept trying to tell myself what Zoe told me earlier, but that didn't stop the blush creeping up my neck.
