Chapter 29

*Isabella's P.O.V*

It was the start of my second week of Year 9 and the first week probably could've gone better if I'm honest. I was upset when I found out I was in a different class to my only friends but with the help of Max, Harvey and Hailee, I managed to convince myself that we could make it work, but that's proving to be a bit harder than expected. I eat at a different time to them, so we only get to see each other for about ten minutes during lunch. Yeah, there are two breaks in the day as well, but they're only fifteen minutes each, so I altogether only get to see my friends for forty minutes out of a six hour school day. Even after school it's difficult to find time to hang out when we've all got monstrous piles of homework, and if that isn't enough, I've been put in a couple higher classes this year, which means the classes are harder, which means it takes me longer to complete the work and have time for myself or my friends or boyfriend. But, hey, we've only just finished the first week. It'll get easier once we settle into Year 9 a bit more, right?

But anyway, enough about my problems, today's a very special day because it's Emilia's fourth birthday! And I was actually woken up about half an hour before my alarm went off to her and Eduardo jumping on my bed.

"What are you two doing?!" I groaned.

"It's my birthday, Izzy!" Emilia squealed before I had the chance to get annoyed at them. Instead, I smiled and sat up.

"Oh yeah, of course. Alright, well, I guess I can't get mad at you for waking me up at such a silly hour, can I?" I poked Emilia's stomach making her giggle.

"But you, mister," I pointed at Eduardo who just gave me a cheeky smile, "It's not your birthday, is it? So that means I can do... This!" I grabbed my little brother and started tickling him. Eduardo fell into my lap, shrieking and laughing his head off, which only excited Emilia who started jumping on the bed again, also giggling like a maniac.

"What on earth is going on in here?" Mum asked as she and Dad walked in, looking both tired and amused.

"Mummy, Daddy!" Emilia screamed happily, jumping off my bed.

"Good morning, birthday girl!" Mum chuckled, lifting her youngest daughter into her arms. Eduardo also managed to climb down from my bed and ran to Dad. We all stayed in my room for a bit and Dad did some vlogging before they decided to go downstairs for breakfast and I quickly got dressed before following them.

Now, I bet you're wondering what we had for breakfast, aren't you? Whether we had some fruit, nuts, cereal... Nope, we had cake. Mum had made Emilia a chocolate and vanilla cake with Malteasers and after singing happy birthday to her, we all had a slice. Hey, if you can't have cake for breakfast on someone's birthday, when can you? Emilia also opened her presents during breakfast and the way her face lit up every time she opened something was the cutest thing. I got her a Merida doll to go with her Disney Princess doll collection which I was glad she loved and Mum and Dad got her a bunch of Frozen stuff, a Shopkins play set and a pink scooter. Max and Harvey soon arrived and I went to open the door for them.

"Hey guys." I smiled at them and they said hello back before Harvey greeted me with a kiss on the lips.

"Maxie! Harvey!" Emilia then came bounding in with Eduardo trailing behind her and Harvey and I jumped apart, a little flustered. Wow, we're literally getting embarrassed in front of a couple of toddlers.

"It's my birthday!" She chirped.

"Is it?" Max gasped, even though they both knew it was her birthday.

"How old are you?" Harvey asked even though they knew that too.

"I'm four!" She boasted, holding up four fingers.

"Wow! That's almost as old as us!" Harvey exclaimed making my little sister giggle. The two little ones soon went skipping back into the kitchen and I called out to Mum and Dad that I was going to school before I left with the boys.

~~~
Before I knew it, school was over and I was running to meet Max and Harvey so we could walk home together, hoping they hadn't left without me. I'd gotten stuck helping my art teacher clean up at the end of the lesson so I was late leaving.
"Crap!" I shouted throughout the luckily empty halls as I checked the time, realising that the bus would be leaving in about five minutes. I got to my locker and threw the door open, frantically grabbing my stuff before I slammed it shut and legged it out the school exit. However, I wasn't fast enough because I got outside just in time to see the last bus pulling away and driving off.
"No!" I cried between pants, "What the hell am I supposed to do now?" I muttered to myself as I got a text from Harvey.
From: Harvest Festival 😹😻♥️😘
Hey sorry we didn't wait for you, we were about to miss the bus 😘💘 xxxx
To: Harvest Festival 😹😻♥️😘
It's ok, I can't expect you to wait that long for me xxxx
Once my text back to Harvey had sent, I opened my contacts and called Mum.
"Hello?" She answered after a couple rings.
"Hey, I missed the bus."
"How did you manage that?"
"I was helping my art teacher clean up after class and it took longer that expected. Anyway, can you come pick me up?"
"Of course, darling. I'll be there in ten minutes."
"Thanks Mum, love you."
"Love you too, sweetheart." And then she hung up and I was left to wait for her.
Ten minutes later, just like she said, Mum's car pulled up beside the curb I was sat on. I got in the car and thanked her for coming to pick me up before she drove us home. By the time we got back, it was 3:40 and Emilia's birthday party was at 4:30 so I went straight upstairs to get ready. I shimmied out of my school uniform before putting on the outfit I'd chosen, which consisted of a blue lace bodycon type dress and white Converse. I put my hair in a messy side braid and did my makeup. Mum helped me with my eye makeup, which was silvery gold and glittery. I slid in some snowflake earrings and slipped a silver Frozen cuff bracelet onto my wrist. Lastly, I snapped a white phone case onto my phone with gold snowflakes all over. In case you hadn't guessed from my outfit, Emilia's party was Frozen themed and I think I nailed my casual Elsa inspired outfit if I do say so myself.
By the time I'd finished getting ready, it was time to leave. We all got in the car and before long, we were walking into the town hall, where the party was being held. The setup was pretty damn amazing, there were purple, blue and white balloons, fairy lights, a fake snow machine, a table full of party bags, two long dining tables with Frozen tablecloths, a snack table full of delicious looking Frozen themed snacks and an incredible three tier Frozen cake. Plus, if the decor wasn't enough, Mum and Dad had hired to actresses to play Ana and Elsa. Emilia and Eduardo's reactions to meeting them were absolutely adorable, they were both a little shy but soon warmed up.
Not long after we arrived, guests started showing up, including Tilly and Leo, which meant Max and Harvey turned up as well.
"Hey, I'm sorry we didn't wait for you after school. I wanted to but Max was panicking about missing the bus." Harvey told me after greeting me with a hug. We were stood in the corner of the room, out the way of the excitable toddlers.
"You already said sorry, Harv." I chuckled, slipping my hands into his.
"I know, but I'm saying it again."
"Well, like I also already said, it's fine. I can't expect you to wait and miss the bus just because of me."
"Yes, you can. There's not a lot in this world that I wouldn't do just because of you." Harvey told me with a smirk and I giggled, blushing as he leaned in to kiss me. I smiled into the kiss, butterflies dancing around my stomach at the feeling of Harvey's soft lips moving with mine. I was just starting to get lost in the moment, when suddenly fake white snowflakes started falling around us. Harvey and I jumped apart to see Max spraying us with the fake snow machine, Emilia, Eduardo, Tilly and all the other kids stood behind him, all of them laughing. Mum was even stood on the sidelines vlogging the whole thing.
"A kids party is no place for PDA!" Max yelled. I turned and buried my red face in Harvey's chest, trying to hide from the embarrassment.
"Get lost, Max." Harvey laughed, his arm wrapping around me protectively.
"What is going on here?" Dad's voice boomed, walking over to join the scene, causing me to step out of Harvey's grip.
"Nothing, Daddy." I assured him.
"Just wait until you watch today's vlog back." Max teased, glancing towards the vlogging camera that Mum was still holding before smirking at Harvey and I.
After that awkward but I guess kinda cute encounter with everyone, we got on with the rest of the party and just as expected, it was loads of fun. We danced around and played some games before we all sat down to eat, and the Frozen treats and cake were just as stupendously yummy as they looked. Towards the end of the party, when people were getting ready to leave and the kids were starting to go a bit crazy thanks to all the sugary sweets, the fake snow machine was turned back on and things got a little insane. Before long, almost the whole floor was covered in fake snow and people were having fake snowball fights and all.
"Hey, Izzy, heads up!" Harvey called and I turned around to see a clump of fake snow hurtling towards me but before I could react, it hit me in the face.
"Oh, you're gonna pay for that, Mills!" I growled, gathering up my own fake snowball.
"You have to catch me first!" He giggled, running off. I laughed and went after my childish boyfriend.
Five minutes later, we were at war and I was hiding under the snack table, waiting for Harvey to pass so I could fire. All of a sudden, I felt fake snow hit the side of my head and turned to see Harvey half under the table, laughing his head off.
"Harvey, you ass!" I exclaimed.
"Watch your language, this is a kids party." He chuckled, moving so he was fully under the table with me, both of us sat Indian style. I then took a proper look at him and couldn't hold in my own uncontrollable laughter.
"What?"
"You might wanna stop off at the shop on your way home and pick up some Head & Shoulders because it seems you have a bit of a dandruff problem."
"Haha, very funny." Harvey playfully rolled his eyes, "But I'm afraid I'm not the only one." He reached forward to ruffle my hair, causing flakes of fake snow to fly everywhere. I laughed and swatted his hand away. I then looked at him to see him staring at me, a smile playing at his lips.
"What?" I giggled.
"Even covered in fake snow you're still absolutely beautiful." He said, biting his lip.
"Shut up." I laughed, looking down to hide my blushing cheeks.
"It's true." Harvey hooked two fingers under my chin and angled my head up, before placing his lips on mine in a gentle but passionate kiss. Luckily, this time, the long table cloth protected us from any fake snow machines or vlogging cameras. Who'd have thought me and Harvey kissing under a snack table at my four year-old sister's birthday party covered in fake snow would be the most romantic part of the day?
