Chapter 23
*Isabella's P.O.V*
I woke up at a decent time and got dressed in a white sun dress with pineapples all over and a pair of patterned white sandals. I put my hair in two simple braids and put a rose gold butterfly necklace on, as well as a gold starfish charm bracelet. I clipped a multicoloured pineapple case onto my phone and grabbed my Saint Laurent bag before I was ready.
Once we were both dressed, Erika and I left the hotel room and went to breakfast with Mum, Oma, Emilia and Eduardo. Dad wasn't coming as he wasn't feeling well. Apparently he woke up with a temperature of 39.4. Ouch.
Breakfast was great, despite Dad not being there and I ended up getting the same as Mum; muesli and banana. Yummy.
After breakfast, we all went down and met the Mills family at the beach. As I knew we'd be going to the beach after breakfast, I was wearing my peach one-piece swimsuit with green leaves on underneath my clothes, so all I had to do was take off my dress, kick off my sandals and I was ready to go in the sea.
I still wasn't talking to Harvey, so I just hung out with Erika and occasionally partook in a game of catch the beach ball with the little ones. Dad ended up coming down about an hour later, saying he felt a bit better which was good.
Before long, it was lunchtime and we all went back up to the hotel terrace restaurant. While I was waiting for my pene pasta with Parmesan cheese, my phone bleeped and I took it out to see Fabio had texted me.
From: Fabulous Fabio 😂😋💞
Hey would you like to come over to my room later? Around 2 oclock? xx
"Isabella, you know the rules. No phones at the table, please." Mum warned me before I had a chance to reply to Fabio.
"Sorry, Mum, it was just Fabio. Can I go round to his room this afternoon?" I asked hopefully as I put my phone away. I noticed the way Harvey tensed up at the mention on Fabio but I tried to ignore him.
"Will you two be alone?" Mum questioned.
"Yes, but his parents' room connects to his so they'll hear everything we say or do."
"Then I suppose that would be alright." She smiled.
"Yay! Thank you!" I grinned and Mum chuckled.
After lunch, I went straight on my phone and texted Fabio back.
To: Fabulous Fabio 😂😋💞
Sorry I didn't reply straight away, we were having lunch. I'd love to come over 😊 xx
I felt a small pang of guilt as I hit send. I didn't want to be any more than friends with Fabio and I was afraid I would end up leading him on, but he was so nice and sweet and funny that I didn't want to completely cut him off. I just wanted to be able to hang out with him without it being romantic, is that so much to ask?
Two hours later, it was time for me to go to Fabio's and I'd somewhat managed to convince myself that I wasn't a bad person. I wasn't leading Fabio on, I was just going to hang out with him as friends and that was fine.
"You need to be home by half five for the photo." Mum told me, referring to the annual family photo we always have taken in Sorrento.
"I will, don't worry." I assured my mother before saying goodbye to everyone and making my way up to Fabio's floor. I soon found his room and knocked on the door and Fabio answered in seconds.
"Isabella." He smiled when he saw it was me.
"Hey." I smiled back at him.
"Come on in." He stepped aside so I could walk in.
"Thank you."
"I was just playing some video games before you came, would you like to join me?" He offered, gesturing over to the Xbox set up in the corner of the room.
"I don't know... I'm not very good at video games."
"Oh, come on, you don't have to be good, just have fun."
"Alright, fine." I gave in with a smile. Fabio's face lit up and I giggled before we both sat on his bed and he handed me the spare controller.
~~~
"Wow, you were not wrong when you said you were not very good at video games." Fabio teased. We'd just finished playing a game of Call Of Duty and let's just say it wasn't my finest hour.
"Oi!" I giggled, only making him laugh more.
"What would you like to do now?" Fabio wondered. I tried to think of something to do but nothing came to mind.
"I don't know, really."
"How about we just talk?" He suggested.
"Uh, okay." I shrugged, not quite sure what he wanted to talk about.
"So when are you returning to England?" He asked me.
"Um, in about a week." I replied.
"I am going to be so sad when you go," He sighed, "I know it has only been a week or so since we met but I feel as though I have known you my whole life." His eyes met mine and he started to lean in.
No, no, no! He can't kiss me, I can't let him kiss me. Do something!
"Oh, is that the time?!" I suddenly spoke up. Fabio's eyes shot open and he quickly pulled back.
"I really need to get going." I said, standing up from the bed.
"Why?"
"Oh, it's just this family photo thing. My parents will kill me if I'm late." I mean, it wasn't a complete lie... I did need to get back for the photo, but there was no way I was going to be late because it was only 3:30.
"Oh, okay, I'll see you tomorrow then?"
"Yeah, maybe, bye!" I said before running out the door, leaving a very confused Fabio behind. I felt terrible, much worse than I did earlier, but I didn't know what else to do. I panicked.
"Bella, love, you know you're two hours early, right?" Mum chuckled as I walked into her, Emilia and Oma's room.
"I know, Mum, I can tell the time." I giggled, "Fabio had to go out so I came back here." I lied. What was I supposed to say? "He tried to kiss me but I didn't want to because I'm in love with Harvey so I made up some excuse to leave and legged it"?!
Anyway, a couple hours later, it was time for the photo, and me, Mum, Dad, Emilia and Eduardo got into our matching outfits. Well, they weren't completely matching but we all had a blue/white theme going on. I wore a blue and white striped shirtdress and a pair of white Converse, my black tree pendant choker and my silver Pandora bracelet. I kept my hair the same as it had been all day and put on a bit of makeup before joining Mum, Dad, Emilia and Eduardo on the sofa.
Mum sat on the left with Eduardo on her lap, Dad sat on the right with Emilia on his lap and I sat right in the middle, holding last year's picture up.
"Okay, say cheese!" Oma said as she was the one taking the photo. We all said cheese and smiled into the camera. She then told us to do one with funny faces so I crossed my eyes and stuck my tongue out. The mini photoshoot was a lot of fun and I had a feeling this year's photo would be one of my favourites.
