Year Seven
"And that's why Remus is Minnie's favorite Marauder and we don't question it." I shrugged and looked at the dress that I was wearing. "I can wear boots with this, right?"
"Jade, no. You are wearing heels and that's final." Lily rolled her eyes and looked at her dress. "Thanks for this. You didn't have to do it, you know?"
"Nonsense, Lils. You're my best friend and my Mum actually insisted that we had a dress tailored for you." I smiled.
"Remind me to thank Euphemia again when we get to your house."
...
"Good, you two are here. We have news and Padfoot has been laughing his ass off for the past forty minutes." Peter grabbed our hands and took us to James' room where you could clearly hear Sirius laughing.
"What the hell is going on?" I asked once we walked inside.
"Guess who's Head Boy?" Remus said stifling a laughter.
"Congrats, Remus. But I thought you asked Dumbledore to take your name out of the list?" Lily said confused.
"Lily, when did your letter come in?" Sirius said in between laughters.
"Last night and I'm Head Girl." Lily said proudly and I started to piece the puzzle together.
Sirius looked at me and nodded. I immediately threw my bag down and fell to my knees laughing.
"THIS IS SO GOLDEN." I yelled.
"What is?" Lily asked.
"Think about it, Lils. Moony isn't Head Boy, Peter isn't either. Sirius has been in way too many detentions for him to be in consideration and James is the only one holding a letter." I saw the wheels turning in her head and I bursted out laughing again.
"NO WAY!" Lily yelled.
"YES WAY!" We yelled back.
"Oh Merlin, I needed that today. Thank you Dumbledore." Sirius said and wiped his tears.
"This can't be happening." Lily shook her head and took the letter from James. "Oh dear Merlin, it's happening."
"It happened, and it's happening Evans. Looks like you're stuck with me." James put an arm around her but Lily elbowed his side. "Tough love, Evans."
Sirius and I bursted out laughing again when Lily started to pace around the room mumbling to herself.
"This is fucking comedy gold." Remus stated and laughed also.
"This is the nudge they needed." I whispered to him.
"Indeed it is."
...
~Sirius POV~
"Hey Prongs, can I talk to you for a minute?" I asked him nervously.
"Sure, we can go to my room if you want."
"Can we head by the lake? Vixen's with Lily in her room and I don't want her to hear this." James nodded and me headed for the lake.
"What's wrong? You're shaking like a leaf." James asked once we sat down by the small pier.
"You know that I love your sister and that I would never put her in harms way, right?" James nodded and I took a deep breath. "Well, I've been thinking about this since last summer and now that we're both about to be of age and if you and Fleamont approve and-"
"Stop rambling and spit it out, Sirius. I'm not getting any younger."
"Can I have your blessing to ask Jade to marry me?" I blurted out and looked at James. He looked at me in shock and I mentally prepared myself for the worst. "It's okay of you say no. I just thought that since-"
"HELL YES! This means we're officially brothers, Padfoot. Oh Merlin's bloody ballsack, this is amazing. Have you got a ring? Let me see it. When do you plan on proposing? When is Dad coming back? Does Evans know? SO MANY QUESTIONS PADFOOT AND I'M NOT HEARING ANY ANSWERS." James hugged me and I sighed in relief.
"No ring yet, but I've been thinking of buying one when we go to Diagon Alley for the final fittings. I plan on proposing on the night of the Ball since that marks three years since our first date. I don't know when your Dad comes back and no, Evans doesn't know. I was going to tell her before she leaves tonight."
"This is bloody amazing!"
...
"Jade, you're going to fall on your ass again and I'm going to laugh." We heard Lily laugh and James facepalmed.
"She's a klutz, I swear to Merlin." I opened the door and saw Jade standing on one leg, in a swivel chair trying to reach a book.
"If you fall, I'm gonna laugh at you again."
"Shut up, Lily." Jade mumbled and finally grabbed the book. "Told you I wasn't gonna fall."
As soon as she said that, she lost her balance and I basically had to throw myself to the floor to break her fall.
"Didi, not this again. You've read that book over a thousand times and now you've crushed your boyfriend's rib cage." James facepalmed again and sat on her bed.
"You okay, sunshine?" I asked her as she helped me stand up.
"I should be asking you that. I jinxed myself again, right?" I nodded and she groaned. "I have got to stop doing that."
"What you need to do is stop being so damn clumsy. I still have the scar from when o saved your ass when we were in first year." James rolled his eyes.
"It's not my fault that Sir Nicholas decided to go right through me making me lose my balance." Jade sassed and Lily and I laughed.
"More like you didn't see the damn ghost and fell down the stairs making us late for Charms." I said and kissed her forehead.
"And Lily wants me to wear heels at the ball." Jade rolled her eyes and sat next to James.
"If you wear heels, I will consider you to be a walking catastrophe, Vixen. You're clumsy as it is and you're fucking barefoot." James said and looked at Lily. "Don't make her wear heels. She'll fall flat on her face before she even makes it down the stairs."
Jade hit James with her book.
"Shut up Prongs, it's not going to happen. I'm wearing my boots and that's final." She shrugged.
"Oi, Evans. Can I talk to you for a minute?" I asked changing the conversation. She nodded and we left the room and headed downstairs.
"What's wrong, Siri?"
"Don't tell Jade, but I plan on proposing." I whispered to her.
"OH MERLIN THIS IS AMAZING!" She yelled and I had to shut her up. "Sorry, sorry. When do plan on doing it?"
"The night of the Yule ball. The dance ends around midnight so it'll be perfect for us to sneak up to the astronomy tower and do it there." I shrugged. "I don't have a ring yet, by the way. I plan on buying one next week with the boys."
"I call being the maid of honor and there's no argument about it. I can help you plan the proposal of you want." She offered and I smiled big and hugged her.
"Thank you so much, Lily. But, do you think she'll say yes?"
"Are you kidding? She's been in love with you since like second year. If she doesn't say yes, I'll slap her and make her say yes." Lily laughed and we walked back upstairs to find Jade sleeping on James' chest while he was reading."What did you do to her?"
"Absolutely nothing, Evans. She looked tired and fell asleep." James rolled his eyes and looked at me. "Did you tell her?"
"Yep. We're getting a ring next week and she want to help plan." I shrugged and sat down next to Jade who was apparently in a deep sleep. "She's in a deep sleep right? I don't want her to hear any of this."
"Padfoot, she's snoring and kinda drooling on me. If that doesn't say she's in a deep sleep, I don't know what will." James said and played with Jade's hair.
"And you don't care? Wow, that's true sibling love." Lily chuckled and sat on the swivel chair.
"To be completely honest, I do it to her sometimes so I picture this as payback." James shrugged and I laughed planting a kiss on Jade's forehead. "So, Evans. We're clear that we're going to help Padfoot in proposing to my sister?"
Lily smirked and nodded.
"Good, because I think James has a plan." I looked over at James who had wheels turning in his head.
"A Potter plan never fails, Padfoot. You should know that by now." James smirked.
I can't wait for the Ball.
