The start
~Sirius POV~
"What's her favorite flowers?" Lily asked James and me.
"Roses. I remember because Mum always had roses in the gardens and Didi always used to put them in her hair when we were younger." James said smiling.
"Okay, so Sirius will give her some roses when he asks her to the ball. But what about the proposal?" Lily looked at me.
"I was thinking of having rose petals scattered on the floor. What do you think?" I shrugged.
"That's perfect!" Lily said excitedly. "The girls know and they're perfectly okay with distracting her for as long as humanly possible but we all know that she can't be away from her boys for too long."
"The question is, when the hell do you plan on asking her to the ball?" Peter asked me.
"I plan doing it tonight before dinner." I smiled.
"Can we be there? I want to see her face when you pull out the roses." James said looking like a kid on Christmas. I nodded and he started to jump around.
"Calm down, James. We're still a month and a half away from the proposal and you're already more nervous than he is." Lily sat him down. "Where's Remus?"
"He's distracting Vixen as we speak. I'm going to go fill him in and then we wait until tonight." I said and looked around anxiously.
"Pads calm down. You two are meant to be together. We still have a month and a half to go." Peter said and sat down next to me.
"I just hope I'm able to give her everything she deserves." I mumbled and James sighed dramatically.
"You're an idiot, Sirius. My sister doesn't pick fights with me over anyone and yet she had the balls to call me out on my bullshit and make me see that I wasn't allowing her to be truly happy. It took me a slap to reality to notice that you make her happy. She literally can't stop smiling when she's around you and Merlin forbid someone talks shit about you because she'll raise some hell. If that's not true love, then I don't know what is." James said and smacked me in the head. "Now, grow a damn pair and let's do this."
...
"No, Marlene. I'm not singing Rasputin to the Durmstrang students." I heard Jade enter the common room and I immediately grew nervous. Lily handed me the flowers and James pushed me towards the stairs.
"Don't be nervous. It'll be okay." Lily whispered and walked down the stairs. "What's this I hear about Rasputin?"
"Jade refuses to sing with me." I heard Marlene say.
"I'm not singing Rasputin in front of the Durmstrang students! We don't even know if they're from Russia." Jade said. I looked over at the boys who shrugged.
"I'll sing with you, Marls. But not here. By the way, I need your help with something in our room." Lily said. Marlene and Lily started to walk up the stairway towards the girls dorm and looked at me.
"Good luck." They mouthed at me. I nodded and walked down the stairs.
"Hello, sunshine." I said and Jade smiled at me.
"Hey, Pads! Sorry I wasn't around, Marlene wanted me to help her annoy the Durmstrang students again." Jade laughed and sat down.
"Really? Well I think she turned out to be worse than all of us combined." I laughed and handed her the flowers and Jade looked at me in shock. "I know I'm not a romantic person or anything like that and I'm sorry for being like that. You deserve so much better."
"You know that I don't care about that, my love. I just care about being with you, romance or not." Jade laughed and took the flowers. "But they're beautiful. Thank you."
"I also have a question for you." I mumbled.
"Yes?"
"Would you like to go to the Ball with me?" Jade looked shocked and smiled immediately giving me a hug.
"Are you kidding!? Of course, I'll go with you. I just thought we're going together by default." I hugged her back and kissed her.
"Well yes, but I just wanted to make it official." I shrugged sheepishly and she laughed.
"Merlin, I love you so much."
"I love you more."
...
"So?" Remus asked
"So what?" I looked up from my book.
"A month and a half to go. You excited?"
"I swear that everyday that passes, I get more anxious Moony." I sighed and leaned back.
"But why? It's obvious that she'll say yes, Padfoot." Remus sat down his quill and looked at me.
"I know and I'm not so worried about that anymore. I'm more worried about the future." I mumbled.
"Why?"
"I don't know if I'll be good enough for her. She deserves the entire world and I'm scared that I won't be able to give it to her. And with a war happening outside of these castle walls, it'll be even more impossible." I said and Remus glared at me.
"Have you ever stopped to think that maybe she doesn't care about that? You and I have been with Vixen long enough to know that as long as she sees a smile on our faces, she's perfectly happy. You could give her the entire world and she will still want the brightest star in the sky, pun intended. You should see the way she looks at you when you're not looking. The damn girl looks at you the same way she looks at the stars. It's a goddamn tragedy that you would think that Vixen looks at you in any other way. She could've had any other boy in Hogwarts and we all know that they basically threw themselves at her feet, but she wanted you. Stop saying that you're not good enough because let's be honest, nobody is good enough for our little Vixen. She's the damn sun in an ocean of stars. No wonder she's your sunshine. So stop you're damn moping and grow a damn pair." Remus said and I looked at him in shock.
"You liked her, huh?"
"Nope, I've always seen her like a sister. I'm just extremely protective of her and with good reason. The four of us are extremely lucky to have her in our lives, Sirius. But the two of you piss me off sometimes." Remus rolled his eyes.
"Why's that?" I asked confused.
"You look at her the same way Prongs has always looked at Lily, you always had. She looks at you the same with she looks at the clouds and the stars. You should've heard her the night of your first date. Yet it's a shame that the two of you do that when the other person isn't looking. That's why you piss me off. Everybody sees how in love the two of you are except the two of you and it's infuriating. In case you haven't noticed, there's a reason why Prongs backed off completely. He finally saw what everybody on this school sees. He finally saw the glimmer in Vixen's eyes and the small smile you always have around her." Remus rolled his eyes and leaned back. "Now let's change the damn subject because Lily and Vix are entering the common room."
I looked towards the portrait and saw Jade on Lily's back laughing and singing and Alice behind them laughing also.
"RA-RA RASPUTIN. LOVER OF THE RUSSIAN QUEEN. THERE WAS A CAT THAT REALLY WAS GONE. RA-RA RASPUTIN RUSSIA'S GREATEST LOVE MACHINE IT WAS A SHAME HOW HE CARRIED ON!" Jade sang and Lily laughed hysterically at her and put her down.
"Do we want to know what happened?" I asked with a smile.
"You really don't. Let's just say that the Beauxbaton students got an earful of Jade singing and dancing in the halls." Alice said and sat down.
"Lily refused to dance with me." Jade shrugged kissing me and sat in between Remus and I. "What are you two doing?"
"The homework that you should be doing instead of singing about a Russian leader." Remus said handing her a book.
"I did this last night with Prongs and stayed up late with Dorcas and did the study notes." She said and threw the book on the table.
"Help us?" I asked. She nodded and walked up the stairs to get her notes with Alice.
"So?" Lily smirked.
"I had to talk some sense into this idiot, Lily. We have our work cut out for us." Remus rolled his eyes.
"Honestly, Sirius. It's a damn Scottish tragedy the way the two of you look at each other when the other isn't looking." Lily said rolling her eyes also.
"That's what Moony said!" I said. "I get it now, so there's no need for you to slap some sense into me, Lily. Because knowing you, you would literally slap me."
"You got that right, Sirius."
