Studying
"Jade, what are you doing?" The boys asked once I slammed some books onto a table.
"Studying." I rolled my eyes and sat down. "Now keep it down before Pince kicks us out again."
"Says the girl who slammed 10 books onto a table." Peter laughed.
"That reminds me, I need more books." I stood up again and walked towards the shelves with Sirius behind me. "Hello, love."
Sirius put his arms around my waist and kissed my cheek.
"Hello my sunshine. Need some help?"
"Actually, yes. I need that book on the top shelf and I can't reach. Do you mind?"
"Not at all, sunshine. Here." Sirius handed me the book and kissed me.
Snap!
"Can you two stop snogging for five minutes? People are trying to study here." James lowered the camera looking disgusted. "Don't you two have any respect?"
"Says the stalker who stole my camera and took pictures." I rolled my eyes and took the camera from him and looked at the picture. "It's actually a nice picture, dammit."
"I'm not gonna be your photographer, Vixen."
"Oh come on, James. Pleaseeeeee?" I gave him my puppy eyes. "I'm your little sister. And I love you."
"You're a demon, Jade." James rolled his eyes. "Let your boyfriend take pictures of you."
"Don't drag me into this, James." Sirius smirked and put an arm around me. "I want no part of this."
"You two are such idiots, I'm leaving." I made my way towards Remus and Peter. "I brought more books."
"You're trying to kill us, Vixen."
"Shut up Remus, and do your homework."
...
"Jade, Sirius is the most unromantic person in the world." Lily laughed.
"Shhh!" Pince scolded us.
"Sorry, Madame." I stifled a laughter and hid behind a book. "I honestly don't mind that he's like that sometimes. Our relationship isn't all that romantic either."
"Well it should! You two are so cute together and I'm jealous." Lily took my hand and gave me a sincere look. "I'm saying this because I'm your friend and I love you like a sister, but Sirius better do a romantic gesture soon before I slap him with this Astronomy book."
"Lily Evans there's no need for violence. And we need more transfiguration books. Give me a sec." I stood up and walked towards the shelves.
I heard my camera snap and I groaned.
"Sorry, Jade. But this is for Sirius. Now smile!" She laughed and took another picture.
"Lily, quit it. We have homework to do." I laughed and opened my books.
"Whatever. You're lucky that Sirius loves you no matter what." She pointed the camera and took another picture.
"I'm fucking serious, Lils. I'm going to kill Flitwick if he gives us another essay about defense charms."
"YOU'RE FUCKING SIRIUS!"
"SHHHHH!" Pince yelled at us.
"I walked right into that one, right?" I facepalmed.
"Yes you did."
...
"Detention? Again? Will you ever learn, Padfoot?" I smirked as I leaned on the trophy case.
"You know me sunshine, always causing trouble." Sirius smirked and looked at me. "Shouldn't you be in detention with James?"
"I finished watering the mandrakes early and he's taming the Devil Snare. I'm so not helping him with that." I sat down and leaned on his shoulder.
"Seen Peeves around? He's been carrying ink balloons again and I've worked real hard with these trophies." I laughed and took the polish from him.
"About 20 minutes ago, I think. And I know, he hit my Potions book and I'm pissed." I showed him my book and he laughed. "You do know that you can use magic right? It's what we always do."
"I know that, but Filch is still around and I thought that you and James were going to be in there all night." Sirius put down the rag and sighed.
"Astronomy tower?" I smirked.
"Astronomy tower." Sirius laughed and stood up and offered his hand. "Shall we?"
"We shall." I took it and we ran down the corridors towards the astronomy tower.
...
"Ladies first." Sirius bowed as he opened the door for me. I laughed and walked in.
"Idiot."
"But I'm your idiot, right." He smiled and hugged me.
"That you are, Sirius." I put my head on his chest as he started to sway us back and forth. "Oh, so we're dancing now? With no music? Very romantic indeed." I laughed.
"Shut up and enjoy the moment, sunshine. We rarely have moments like this with your brother breathing down my neck." Sirius put his chin in the top of my head and started to hum a melody that was really familiar.
"My dad used to sing that when he was teaching me and Bam Bam how to ballroom dance. It's been years since I've heard it." I smiled and closed my eyes starting to hum also.
"Oddly enough this was also the same song that played when I learned how to dance. But my parents got me lessons and I never danced with Mum." I felt him shrug.
"Your mother's a bitch, Padfoot. I'm sorry you didn't have the childhood you deserved."
"Yeah well, what can you do? The important thing is that I'm now dancing with the girl of my dreams without a care in the damn world. And I really hope that Sinistra doesn't have class tonight because I don't want another detention right now." I laughed and hit his back softly.
"It's not Wednesday so there's no class tonight and it's not even midnight yet." I said and moved to the railway watching the stars. "I've never seen so many stars in November. The sky looks so pretty."
Sirius joined me and sighed deeply.
"The sky really does look beautiful tonight. The moonlight really brings out your eyes, you know?"
"How so?"
"You look more peaceful at night. And the dark makes your light blue eyes stand out even more. I actually fall in love with them even more at night." Sirius moved towards me and twisted a strand of my hair. "Have I told you that you look beautiful? Because you really do."
"Yes, you have. This morning at breakfast, during Potions, Herbology and Charms, before I left for detention, and right now. I think I'm missing a few though." I laughed and looked at him.
"Geez, sorry for complimenting my girlfriend then." Sirius rolled his eyes jokingly and looked at the stars. "But I'm not kidding. You look more peaceful at nighttime and that makes you look even more beautiful."
"How so?"
"You spend all day worrying about exams, homework and trying to get James and I out of detention. But then night comes and you pull up your hair and wear your glasses as you read a book or laugh with us at dinner. You look so calm and without a worry in the world but we all know it's short lived when you go back to the snake pit even though you sneak up to the Gryffindor tower in the dead of night. It's moments like those that make me fall in love with you even more. I honestly couldn't give a rats ass if you wore makeup all day or not. Why? Because for me it's the way you look at night right before you fall asleep. For me, it's the little sleepy smiles you have whenever you're more asleep than awake. It's moments like those that makes me go crazy, Vix." Sirius smiled and wrapped his arms around me. "And it's those moments that makes me love you even more if that was possible."
"Merlin's beard, I love you so much." I wiped the tears that were forming in my eyes and smiled at him.
"I love you more, sunshine. Always have and always will."
"Why are you so good to me?" I laughed.
"I dunno. Because you deserve that and more. Also, wanna go to the forest for a while?" He smirked and let go of me.
"But how are we-" I turned around and saw a black dog with beautiful grey eyes smiling at me. "All right. Come on, Snuffles." I laughed and changed into a fox. Sirius barked at me and ran down the stairs with me trailing right behind him.
...
"Well that was fun." I smiled and turned towards the Fat Lady and said the password. She smiled at us and let us in. "Until the centaurs came and chases us."
"Honestly, that was the most anticlimactic situation I've ever been it."
"Oh yeah, what about the time we-" James started to speak but Sirius interrupted him.
"SHUT UP JAMES! WE PROMISED WE WOULDN'T SPEAK OF IT!"
"Okay, now I want to know what happened." I laughed and sat down.
"Well, it all started when Sirius took the cloak-"
"REMUS! WHAT DID I SAY!?" Sirius yelled and tackled Remus.
"What the hell? Sirius, get off him!" Peter moved to separate the two.
"Is there something I should be worried about?" I smirked watching the scene in front of me.
"I sure hope not." James moved to sit next to me. "Where did you go after detention?"
"I went to the trophy case to see what Sirius was doing. After that we went to the astronomy tower and then we left for the forest to run around for a bit."
"And you didn't invite me!?" James exclaimed offended.
"We kinda wanted to be alone, James." I rolled my eyes.
"It's not a date, so why be alone?"
"James stop it. You promised you wouldn't do this. Sirius and I just wanted to be alone, that's all. We barely get alone time because of you." I sighed and finally separated Sirius and Remus. "A few more seconds and I'll get jealous, Moony."
"Shut up, Vixen. Nobody can know what happened." Sirius pushed Remus one more time and sat next to Peter.
"Wait, why because of me?" James asked returning to the previous subject.
"Because you're constantly breathing down our necks. We'll continue this another time." I rolled my eyes and put my feet on the table.
"Feet off the table." Remus said returning to his homework.
"Bite me, Moony." I flipped him off.
"Jade, we'll have this conversation now."
"Just change the subject, Bam Bam. I'm far too happy to argue with you." I said and leaned towards him.
"Just answer the question and I'll drop the subject."
"Did I miss something?" Sirius asked.
"No!" James and I said in unison and glared at each other.
"How I hate it when they do that." Peter mumbled.
"Shut up, Peter." We said in unison again.
"Just answer the question Vixen." James rolled his eyes.
"Fine! You just have to stop breathing down my neck every single time I'm with Sirius. It gives us the impression that you don't trust us or anything. Honestly James, just stop it."
"It's not that I don't trust you two-"
"It's just that, James. I can't be alone with her for ten minutes anymore." Sirius said honestly and shrugged. "What changed, James? You were so supportive at first."
"I'm actually quite curious about this. You were always the one who said that these two belonged together. Well now they are, and you're acting like a git." Remus said and closed his book.
"I'm curious too. I remember in third year that you tried to get these two together." Peter said.
"I'm just protective of my little sister, that's all." James mumbled.
"You can be protective but you can't invade my space, Bam Bam. Sometimes Sirius and I want to be alone for a little while. Can you try and respect that? For me?" I hugged his arm and gave him my famous puppy eyes.
"I can't promise anything, Didi. It's just how I am."
"James, come on. We've been dating since July and you've been perfectly okay with it until we returned to school." I pushed him away and sighed. Sirius moved to sit on the floor and held my hand.
"Seriously, James. What the hell changed?" Remus asked.
"I don't know, okay. Sirius is my best friend and Jade is my little sister-"
"By ten minutes." I added.
"By ten minutes." James rolled his eyes. "It just feels weird. I knew this was bound to happen and I thought I would be more prepared."
"James, I'm not stealing your sister from you if that's what you're worried about." Sirius laughed. I smiled and moved to the floor and sat on his lap. Sirius wrapped his arms around me and kissed my cheek.
James looked at us and sighed deeply.
"You love her, don't you Padfoot?"
"You have no idea, James." I smiled at this.
"Very well. As long as you don't harm a hair on her head, I'll back off completely. That's a promise." James smiled softly at us. I jumped and wrapped my arms around my brother.
"I love you, Bam Bam."
"I love you too, Didi." James picked me up and started to spin.
"James, put me down. I'm gonna puke!" I yelled as the boys laughed. After a while, I ended up laughing also.
I'll treasure moments like these forever.
