Patronus

It's been almost a month and James and Sirius have made little to no effort to talk to me. Remus barely leaves me alone and makes me sit with him pretty much everywhere. Lily glares at the two every chance she gets and 'accidentally' whacks Sirius with a Potions book during free period.

"They still haven't said anything to you?" I asked Remus as he sat down next to me in DADA.

"Yes but I'm not hearing it. They should be talking to you, not me." Remus shrugged. I only sighed and looked at the empty table in front of us. "Don't worry about it Jade. James is a git."

"It's not James I'm worried about." I muttered and looked at Sirius' chair.

Remus only sighed and pulled me closer to him.

"He's also an idiot. He'll come around. You just focus on being you and make him beg for your forgiveness." I laughed and hugged Moony.

"Why are we laughing?" Peter asked as he walked into the classroom with James and Sirius trailing behind him.

"Remus is teaching a valuable life lesson, that's all." I smiled at Peter and glared at the two boys behind him.

"Didi, we need to talk." James said as he sat down in front of me.

"How about no we don't? How about you get your head out of your ass and then I'll decide if I'll listen to you."

"I'm your brother, Jade."

"Yeah? You sure don't act like it sometimes." I rolled my eyes and put my book in front of them creating some sort of wall between us. From the corner of my eye, I saw Sirius looking depressed. I rolled my eyes at this. "Work up the courage to talk to me, Sirius. Then I'll decide what to do."

"Fine. Sunshine, I'm-"

"Good morning, class!" Saved by the Professor. "Today, you'll finally be able to cast your patronus. I know you all have been practicing since third year and this takes time."

The Professor divided us into pairs and luckily I was with Remus.

"Let's see what you got, Jade." I tried a couple of times but I only got a spark. "Memories aren't happy enough. Come on Jade, there's got to be something there."

"I'm not feeling all to happy, Moony." I rolled my eyes and looked over at Sirius who was already staring at me. I gave him the bird and took out my wand again.

"Fine. Then think about something that has to do with Sirius." Remus rolled his eyes.

"What?"

"You heard me. Think of Sirius."

I closed my eyes and started to think of all the memories I have of Sirius. Only two of them showed up, the wedding and the astronomy tower. I opened my eyes and saw that Remus was staring at me. I nodded confidently and got pointed my wand out.

"Expecto patronum" a light came from my wand and it turned into a fox. I stepped back shocked and watched as my patronus ran around the classroom. Sirius saw it and stared at me in shock.

"Good job Miss Potter! 15 points for Slytherin." I nodded still not saying anything. I sat on the floor and stared at nothing in particular. Remus got worried and sat down in front of me.

"It's just a fox, Jade. It's a very beautiful one."

"It's not just any fox, Moony." I looked at him. "Do you remember the night I got detention with Sirius last year because of this class? The whole werewolf thing?"

"Yes I remember. Why?"

"That night, Sirius and I went to the astronomy tower and he showed me some constellations. One of them was Vulpecula, the fox holding a goose. He told me it was his favorite constellation." Remus sucked in a breath and looked at me wide eyed.

"So the patronus?"

"I thought of that night and the wedding." I trailed off.

"Bellatrix's wedding?" I nodded. "What happened? I knew you two didn't tell us everything."

"I'm telling you this because you're the person I trust the most. Nothing special happened, we just danced the entire night and had a few laughs. But I felt like it was just the two of us that night. No wedding, no Blacks glaring at us. It was just Sirius and I. Nobody else." I sighed and looked at the floor. Remus nodded in understanding and hugged me. I immediately started to cry and he excused us from the class and walked out of the classroom. "It hurts Moony. Make it stop."

"I wish I could Jade. Sirius is an idiot for walking out and James is no better by saying that to you. You don't deserve it."

"It's not that. Right now I don't care about what James said or didn't say. I just never thought that he would ever say that to me. He says he wants me to be happy but sometimes I find that hard to believe." I sniffled and looked at him. Remus wiped my tears and hugged me again.

"He does want you to be happy, Jade. But he has a unique way of showing it. James wants what's best for you, that's all."

"I don't want what's best for me. I want Sirius." I felt Remus sigh and hugged me tighter.

"I know Jade, I know."

...

"Oh come on, Jade. It'll be fun!"

"Lily, the answer is no. I'm not wearing my glasses in front of everybody." I rolled my eyes.

You see, I'm currently in quite a predicament. Somehow, Lily managed to drag me into the Gryffindor house and into her dorm, messed up my uniform a bit, put on a bit of makeup and now she's forcing me to wear my glasses. All to mess with Sirius' mind for a while.

"You've done it before" she smirked.

"My head was hurting and I was a mess that day. I allowed myself to look like a hot mess"

"Come on, we need this plan to work if you want Sirius to come begging on his knees." She forced the glasses into my hands and pushed me into a mirror. "You look hot, Jade. This plan is foolproof. Even Remus agreed with what I planned to do."

I stood there shocked and looked at her.

"You drove innocent Remus Lupin into your devilish plan!? Now I know you're crazy"

"All in the name of love Jade, it's all in the name of love. You can thank both of us on your wedding. Now let's go, dinner is in a few minutes and you always disappear straight after." She grabbed my hand, forced me to put on my glasses and we left for the Great Hall.

...

"I'm telling you Jade, this will work"

"I'm not sure Lils. I mean, I'm not even wearing the necklace" I said as she pushed me towards the Gryffindor table.

"That's the point! Make him know that you're not some prize he gets to show off whenever he wants. Remus has the necklace so don't worry about that. He'll give it to you after dinner. Now, let's go. It's showtime" and with that she grabbed my arm and walked towards the boys who were already eating and laughing with the  exception of Sirius. Remus noticed me first and smirked nodding towards Lily. She nodded back and tapped Peter on the shoulder. "Here  she is boys, safe and sound. Hoope you didn't mind that I stole her for a while."

James immediately stood up and ruffled his hair. I rolled my eyes at this.

"All right, Evans?"

"How about no? You made your sister cry, that's a dealbreaker in my book." She rolled her eyes at James and turned towards me. Lily gave me a knowing nod and left, not before hitting Sirius in the head finally making him look up from his food.

"Hi sunshine" I only nodded and sat next to him.

"Remember the plan" Remus mouthed at me.

"Fine" I mouthed back and loosened my tie even more.

"Sunshine, why aren't you wearing the necklace?" Sirius asked.

"I was wearing it but then decided to take it off. I think it's in my dorm or with Lils. Why do you care Sirius?" I said in a cold tone and shrugged. Sirius stood up and grabbed a plate but I was quicker and grabbed another plate and started to serve myself some food. "I hope that second plate is for you, Sirius."

He only sighed and sat back down.

"Jade, what has gotten into you? You always wear your uniform like it should be. What's going on?" Peter asked confused.

"Don't worry about it, Peter." I smiled sweetly at him and looked at Remus who was holding a laugh.

"I actually like her like this. Don't you, Sirius?" Remus smirked. Sirius only nodded and said nothing.

"Rebellion will get you nowhere little sister. I should know." James rolled his eyes.

"So the idiot speaks! That's the first sentence you've to me in almost a month. I'm impressed that you still remember that you have a sister." I sassed back. He glared at me and I glared back refusing to back down.

"Watch it, Jade."

"No, you watch it James. You think that just because I'm your sister, I'll forgive you whenever you want. Well guess what Bam Bam? I've forgiven you for worst things in our 14 years of existence and I'm tired of it. You want my forgiveness? Earn it or else it's going to be awkwards when we go back home."

"Deep down you know that I'm right."

"And deep down you know that I always do what I want. You also know that when I say enough, I mean it. And guess what? I've had more than enough of you right now. Figure it out James. I'm tired of telling you how to fix things." I rolled my eyes and looked at Sirius. "And you! It's been almost a month and you haven't said three words to me."

"You won't let me." Sirius mumbled.

"You wanna know why? Because you have to work for it, Sirius. I'm not your stupid prize, I actually have feelings. I'm not even mad that you left that day. I'm mad because you haven't owned up to your shit."

Remus gave me a look saying to back down before I said something I might regret.

"I've come to the conclusion that i should never piss off Jade. She's scaring me right now." Peter said.

Sirius only groaned, took my hand and stormed out of the Hall with me yelling at him to let me go.

"Let me go, Sirius!"

"Merlin, you're so stubborn sometimes." He ran his hands through his hair messing it up. I only rolled my eyes and leaned on the wall and looked at my nails.

"Whatever Sirius. You think I'm joking but I'm not."

"I know that! I also know that there is going to be a war between you and James if he doesn't apologize. You never back down from anything, Jade. That's why I like you so much. You're stubborn as hell and never bow down to anyone." Sirius said frustrated and looked at me. I only shrugged which made him even more furious. "And that! That 'I don't care' attitude. Merlin's balls Jade, you have no idea what you do to me."

"And what's that Sirius?" I rolled my eyes again and glared at him.

"It makes me want you even more! You're the only girl that hasn't melted in my presence. From the day we met, I knew that you weren't like anybody I've ever met. You don't fear anything and if you do, good job at hiding it. You're the only girl that makes me work to have her. Not only do I have to prove to James that I'm a decent human being to date his sister, I have to prove to you that I'm not like any of them. You may not notice, but I see how everybody looks at you. Every single boy wants you and every single girl wants to be you. You may not see it because you don't care, but I notice things Jade. I see how everybody looks at you when you walk into a room. I see how every single boy here looked at you when you walked in with Evans for dinner. I've seen the faces, Jade. And how do I know? Because they look at you the same way that I do."

"Sirius-"

"I'm not done." He said and messed up his hair again. "I know what James told you. He says that I'm a player because every girl falls to my feet willingly, but I pay no attention to that because I don't care, Jade. I only care about you. Moony knows it, Peter knows this, Evans knows this. Hell, the whole school knows this. And I know that James knows this but refuses to accept this. He refuses to accept the fact that we all know that we're meant for each other."

"Says who?" I raise my eyebrow at him and scoffed.

"Says our history, sunshine. In case you haven't noticed, I don't go around giving away family heirlooms now do I? You're the only one who can read me like a bloody book and you always manage to get me into the least trouble whenever we have detention." He smirked and walked up to me. "Now how about I help you raise hell against you brother."

"And how exactly do you plan to do that?" I smirked once he put his arms around my waist.

"By finishing what I started under that tree three weeks ago." And just like that, his lips were on mine.

Finally!
