More of the Story: The Femme Vanir
Okie. Another!
YO! HEY! Hello! This girl's back with another... eheheheheh...
YES its a Loki fanfic. And there are so many words explaining my gratitude for stopping by and I really am lazy to break it down so thank you again like in the last fanfic. Whatever you stopped reading, thank you for stopping to read that in order to give this a glimpse and chance. Whenever you're desperate for some Loki, thank you for choosing this to quench your thirst and give this a glimpse and chance (again)... Yes. The cycle will go on and on so overall, thank you very much.
So, why a 'femme Vanir'? Well, this femme Vanir is pretty badass. Hence 'femme' but, hey, a dream (not really, car rides are inspirational you know) came and bah-bam...
Anyways, this book is centered around a Vanir Goddess. As we all know, in the infamous Norse mythology, there are nine worlds which take the embodiment of a tree known as the Yggdrasil. (OKAY, mythology time!)
Yes, that word (Yggdrasil) has been mentioned before (from the MCU I mean... Well...
"Marvel Phase" Paramount...) and with that paramount clue, the word was said no, not by Odin, not Thor, or Heimdall or any Asgardian but by Johann Schmidt. While he was searching for the Tesseract, he decided with his nazism ideology and being an overall shitty person to you know, visit a German-occupied town in Norway called Tønsberg and like kill the chapel or church thing's priest and blow up the place all in favor for this mysterious relic. And what's that? The Tesseract. Here's a gif: (lol jk its a video bc Tumblr didn't have one so here's the scene...)
[There should be a GIF or video here. Update the app now to see it.]
(1:07 minutes of your time, Yggdrasil is the first thing he said.)
Why a long time to talk about the tree of the world? Consider that it's the tree of the world... In Norse mythology, I mean... The tree basically connects the nine worlds like the imaginary eclipses that are formed due to the gravitational force the planets have towards the sun and yeah, I'm not gonna get to that.
There are nine worlds in the tree that poets and storytellers of Norse mythology generally discuss and mention about. Nilfheim, Asgard, Vanaheim, Midgard, Alfheim, Svartalfaheim, Muspelheim, Jotunheim, and Hel(heim) (someone should make a memory aid of sort). Those nine are not in the order on how they are placed on Yggdrasil (based on Norse cosmology), those aren't how they would've been spelled in the older, Nordic language and also the fact because of my keyboard won't provide the correct letters so that's very brief. I've heard nobody really knows whether Vanaheim is here or there. Am I wrong? The internet is never wrong (sarcasm intended and yes, I have no idea either.)
Fun fact: I am no fucking expert. But let me share some stuff I learned.
So to be even very brief, Nilfheim is cold af, Asgard is home of ALL the Aesir (we'll get to that), Vanaheim is home of ALL of Vanir (again, we'll get to that), Midgard (not Midgaurd, haysus, spelling) has us puny beings, Alfheim is home of the light elves, Svartalfaheim has them dwarves, Muspelheim is the world of fire and lava, Jotunheim is giants' world (not specifically frost giants, I believe that's the way Marvel depicted it) and Helheim is... hell.
Did I warn you all that this will be long as fuck because I'm just like gonna explain a brief thing on Norse mythology in a completely unprofessional and formal manner? *laughs to herself but kms* Okay... Resume...
Anyways, of course, being mythology and all that, we have gods. Odin, Allfather is really the king of them all, resides in Asgard. Frigg (Frigga in comics) is his queen, Thor is her child, there's a dude named Baldr who's also their son but no one legit gives a fuck so he's irrelevant in this book (also the fact we're following the movies... sorry comics) and finally the dude that everyone loves, Loki. He's adopted but he's whom most gives a fuck about (and wanna fuck but we don't... we don't wanna get to that). However, I believe they never really adopted Loki as their child but they really despised him and held a grudge against him for murdering the favorite (in the real myth), Baldr. Anyways, the gods that reside in Asgard are known as Aesir (again, not traditional spelling because shitty keyboard).
Loki, on the other hand, is the only giant (considering that he hails from Jotunheim) to reside in Asgard and be considered as an Aesir. However, he's that god. The yes, mischievous, the one with the jokes that take too far, and the one that eventually is considered to be causing all the shit and danger for Ragnarok (Stan Lee modeled his Asgard pretty closely in my opinion that lacks credibility and such). Anyways, there are more Aesir.
The Aesir represent their godliness (basically deities i guess i'm not hank or john from crash course) based on like moral, human, aspects. Like the ones that are more literal like foreknowledge (Frigga's thing), warfare, lies, evil (Loki eventually), justice, love, yeah... Those things. With a few exceptions but hell, no am I typing any further of that.
And as I've mentioned, we have the Vanir. They're the gods that reside in Vanaheim. Vanaheim is... The home of the Vanir. Yeah, I vice versa that shit because there's really no other meaning (that I can find) so... yeah. An example of a Vanir: Frigga. Yep, she's one.
Anyways, these gods mainly represent fertility, wisdom, the ability to see the future (hence Frigg's foreknowledge) and nature like trees and grass and yay, water. In addition, Vanaheim contains most of the nine worlds' sorcerers and magicians. Lit. Honestly, the only reason I'd prefer this than Asgard is that of magic.
So, between these two deities, we'll *lowkey (LOKI HAH) switches to teacher mode even though I hate some children) be talking a lot about them the most because they did undergo a war until complete unification by finally being under one pantheon, and all the other godly, mythological shit that I won't even type about.
So yeah. Immediately you would assume that yes, our fictional, femme Vanir is a sorceress and obviously the princess of Vanaheim or else she wouldn't have been betrothed to Thor in the first place.
And... the story will go from there.
Finally, some disclaimers:
1) If all of that context I have consisted seemed wrong or weird in any way at all, I obviously relied on online resources and this mythology book I had that helped me so...
2) I follow the chronology of the movies. And some comics but just barely there.
3) Please personally correct any other grammatical errors if you do see them consistently.
4) PG-13? I don't know, MA-14? That works.
5) Anything seems inaccurate? Personally, message me and I enjoy discussing the inaccuracy and I will rationally accept the mistake. (Or not, I fight and bite.) But as what Hollywood says, "fuck accuracy." *laughs to myself thinking its so funny* Sorry, but highkey though, they should tone down or like completely get rid the fucking whitewashing like honestly bro really????
6) I promise you, that is not how I will type or format this story. This particular chapter is a long ass author's note where my informalities bloom and acronyms like "kms" are expressed but hey, just to say it out there.
7) The time period will mostly be spent BEFORE the first Thor. And eventually or during the events of the first Avengers and Thor: The Dark World.
8) I do not own Marvel and their perceptively perfect characters with the exception of Ellika and Segrid and other people in relation to those characters I made. (Sound yikes but,) um yeah... no copying? Or any other plagiaristic actions towards to what I own. (Is it harsh???? I'm so sorry if it sounds that bad...)
9) Bless Tumblr for all the GIFs. Every single credit goes to their creators.

( Too iconic.)
Anthony Hopkins as Allfather Odin of Asgard
(Y'all know too.)
Main Gal: Ellika Gullveigdottir
Brief analysis: Goddess and princess of her realm, Vanaheim, and daughter of Gullveig (she is named based on the goddess of sorcery, she is a Vanir goddess, and apparently was mentioned in only like two verses of Völuspá, one of the poems in the Poetic Edda) current queen, Ellika is known as the goddess of morality, metals, and mercy at once took her place on the throne of Vanaheim, she changed her realm forever.
But that's in the future. As of in the past of which her story is foretold, she's just a mere princess living in the peaceful aftermath of the Aesir-Vanir War. Now that Allfather Odin of Asgard has officially reunited the Vanir and the Aesir under the unification of one, single pantheon, Ellika's mother decides to further strengthen relations by suiting Ellika with the eldest prince of Asgard and the chosen one to be king, Thor Odinson.
Another reason for this arranged marriage is Gullveig's corrupted rule over Vanaheim. Ellika is desperate to restore Vanaheim while her mother is leading towards the riches and fortunes once the marriage is enacted and what the Asgardians will provide.
Ellika never met Thor until she and her mother decided to vacation and get to know the royal family a little bit better at their palace. She refuses to disappoint her realm, however, everything will change once she meets sweet Loki (laughs). Thor's younger, adoptive brother.
So, how did Ellika's story really go about? How did the Vanir goddess change Vanaheim and Asgard forever?
