Chapter 6
When Ugine got back to the bell tower he was immediately greeted by cheers from the gargoyles.
"Way to go Ugine!" Felix yelled.
But the fox Faunus was just confused, "what did I do?"
"You got rid of that no good captain," Charlie said, "honestly what kind of jerk is he trying to take away your girlfriend?"
"Girlfriend? You mean Jenni? No she's just a friend. A very good friend." Ugine insisted.
"Uh huh sure," Charlie said rolling his eyes, "she was all over you. Like this."
Charlie then grabbed Cinder, dipped her and began peppering her stone face with kisses. However, this just made Felix angry and he tried to push himself in between the two other gargoyles.
Cinder groaned in annoyance and wriggled her way out of the embrace the two bickering males had her in.
"What we're trying to say Ugi is that you were really brave standing up to that Adam guy the way you did. And it was very brave of you for helping Jenni get out of the cathedral. I'm sure she's very grateful."
The fox Faunus sighed, "Yeah I know she is. But that doesn't mean she's gonna fall in love with me or anything. I mean look at me, I seriously don't think I'm her type."
However, the nervous feeling in his stomach begged to differ. Ever since the wolf Faunus had kissed his cheek Ugine felt happy, a lot happier in fact than he had felt in a long time. He couldn't really be falling in love with her. Could he?
He then looked out at the various couples taking an evening stroll around the kingdom.
"You know it's funny. All my life I've seen people in love. But Master had always told me that nobody could ever love a face like mine. But with Jenni, I feel different, I feel happy, she makes me feel like someone finally cares about me, like someone finally loves me."
Ugine picked up a block of wood and a knife and began carving a doll that looked just like Jenni. When he had finished he touched the doll's small wooden face and smiled lovingly at it.
"If she really does love me then I want her to know that I love her too."
"Then tell her that," Felix said.
The redheaded young man turned and saw his gargoyle friends all giving him confident smiles.
Ugine took the Jenni doll and placed it in the model of the tower next to the doll that looked like him, "Alright I will. Next time I see her I'll tell Jenni that I love her."

Meanwhile was Roman pacing the floor of his room in the courthouse as a roaring fire blazed in front of him in the fireplace. He too was having thoughts of Jenni. But these thoughts were far from pure or innocent.
Ever since the festival that morning the judge had been unable to get the wolf Faunus out of his head. No matter how hard he tried he couldn't get the visions of her long silver hair or her plump lips or the way she danced out of his head.
I feel her. I see her. The sun caught in her raven hair is blazing in me out of all control.
"That Faunus witch must've cast a spell on me or something. That's the only logical explanation." Roman muttered to himself gripping the ends of his hair in his fingers.
"Roman...." a voice suddenly cooed.
"Who's there?" The judge asked looking up.
"Roman..." the voice said again, "I'm over here."
Roman looked up to see that the flames had taken the form of Jenni and they were dancing just as she had.
The fiery Jenni giggled and beckoned the man forward.
He found himself drawn to her but as he reached out for her the hallucination vanished and Roman's fingers closed on nothing.
Like fire! Hellfire! This fire in my skin. This burning, desire is turning me to sin!
"This witch must be stopped! Her kind has polluted my kingdom and now she's found a way to get inside my head! I must get rid of her. But how?"
Suddenly the door banged open and Lt. Thrush stepped through, "Judge Torchwick! Sir!"
The judge turned to the soldier, "Yes what is it?"
"It's the Faunus girl," Thrush said, "she's disappeared from the church. We looked everywhere but she's gone."
"What?!" Roman snapped, "how did she escape?!"
"We're still trying to figure that out sir."
Judge Torchwick groaned audibly, "then leave me be you idiot. Go find the girl! Not one soldier rests until you do! Understand?!"
Lt. Thrush nodded and closed the door back.
Roman picked up a silk scarf that he had gotten from the festival. It was almost identical to the ones Jenni used in her act whenever she danced.
"I don't know how but you've found a way to evade me again Jennifer. But this is the last time. You and your kind will pay for everything you have done."
He then threw the scarf into the fire and watched it smolder and burn.
"One way or another."
But she will be mine or she will burn!
