Part 3

Gus:
"Yes I do know her. And this is Hazel Grace." I squeezed Hazels hand. Caroline looked at Hazel with a forced smile.

"Hi Hazel. I'm Caroline." She said with an edge in her tone. "Welcome to Heaven." Hazel smiled at her.

"Hi. Thank you. Caroline? Gus told me about you." Hazel shook her hand. Caroline smiled at me.

"Well Hazel its time for lunch." She said that right as the horn went off. Hazel and I walked hand in hand to the building where we eat. I pulled out her chair. We started eating. Hazel say on my right and Caroline on my left.

"How's Isaac?" I asked.

"Great actually. Monica came to her senses. Back together. Made my heart ache though. Like when I hang out with them and watch them do couple stuff." She said sadly. I nodded.

"How were you?"

"Eh. Okay but not okay. I didn't take your...death well. I wouldn't talk to anyone for maybe three months? I just sat there and yelled at me lungs. I felt lonely. I didn't go to support group for 4 months. I just couldn't deal with it. Stopped reading AIA. Reminded me of you." She told me. I stared at her and sighed.

"Hazel. I wanted you to live your life not mourn over me." I told her while stroking her cheek. She smiled.

"I know but.. I just couldn't. I tried! I really did. But I loved you so much and I didn't know when I was gonna pass so I didn't know when I was going to see you again!" She started ranting.

"Hey, it's okay. Want to go walk around?" I asked once we were done eating. She nodded. She stood and reached for her oxygen tank but realized she didn't have one. We both laughed.

"I know I still reach for my prosthetic in the morning." She laughed and wrapped her arm around my waist. I wrapped mine around her shoulder.

I showed her the swing set. "Wow" she laughed. We sat on the swings and talked. Then Caroline walked over and sat In front of me. Good thing Hazel wasn't the jealous type.

"So Hazel. How did you meet Gus?" She asked. Hazel looked at me.

"Support Group." Caroline nodded.

"You had cancer?" She asked. Hazel nodded.

"Yah. Thyroid. Affected my lungs. I um.. died.. when my lungs filled up with water and doctors couldn't drain it properly." She said sadly. I reached over and gave her hand a squeeze. Caroline narrowed her eyes at our hands. I didn't care though.

"Ok Hazel. Tell me your and Gus' story. I'm sure you've heard ours." She said. Hazel looked at me.

"Um, okay.." She said. "We ran into each other at support group. We became friends. I got him to read this book. Called An imperial Affliction and he got hooked. The book ended mid sentence so we emailed the authors assistant to get some questions answered. They invited us to Amsterdam. So we went. We went to dinner. Gus told me he was um.. in love with me.  I didn't say anything back. We got to the authors house. And the meeting didn't go so well. We left and went to Anne Frank's house with the assistant. There wasn't an elevator so we walked up many stairs. I almost died! And then I um... kissed him. We started dating I guess. We just... walked around for the rest of the night. The rest I really don't like talking about." Hazel said choking up at the last part.

"You guess? Hazel Grace. Yes we started dating." I laughed.

"Wait. Wait. Wait. Gus! I waited many years for you! This is what I get! You moved on! I never even thought that you would!" She exclaimed. Standing up. I stood up along with Hazel.

"Caroline. I've never met a girl like Hazel. I can't help that I fell in love with her! I'm sorry that you had to wait this long. But when I met Hazel... I couldn't keep my eyes of her. And I've never seen anyone with the same personality as her" I said. Caroline glared at Hazel.

"Um... sorry about this Caroline but I've never met anyone like G" Caroline cut off Hazel.

"So what. I waited years. I've known him for years. How long have you known him?"

" Two. Dating for about 2. " hazel said.

"Gus. Seriously. What do you see in her? And really? 'We just walked around the rest of the night' no one believes that! Gus, you never offered me that! Why her!?" She asked.

" No offense but I never felt what I felt about Hazel with you. And you were unresponsive and would repeat the same things over again  I focused on taking care of you. I'm in Love with Hazel. I moved on Caroline. " I said. Caroline rolled her eyes and turned to Hazel.

"Did you threaten him? Did you brainwash him? He never would have done that with anyone else but me. We are meant to be. What are you Hazel? A slut?" ( A\N I HATE THAT WORD AND IT WOULDN'T BE USED IN HEAVEN BUT I HAVE TO MAKE THIS INTERESTING.)

Hazel rolled her eyes but I got mad. "That's enough. Do not talk like that to her ever again." I said. I grabbed Hazels hand and walked away.

" That was interesting. " Hazel said. I looked at her.

"Just forget about it. I love you. Remember that, okay?"

" Love you too. and okay. "

"Okay." Then I pulled her into a kiss. Her arms around my neck and mine around her waist. We pulled away. She grabbed my hand and we walked down the golden road.

" I wonder if people can get married in heaven. " I said out loud. Hazel just looked at me and laughed.

I have her back and I couldn't ask for anything else.

THE END.
