Gus POV: 

we pulled into the hospitals parking lot. They rolled Hazel into the hospital and I stood by her, holding her hand, the whole time.

"What's your name?" One of the doctors asked.

"Augustus Waters." I said.

"How do you know Hazel?" He asked me.

"I'm her boyfriend and best friend." I said. Hazel groaned and I squeezed her hand. The doctor asked me what happened. I told him and when I was finished he nodded.

"Alright. Mr. Waters you'll have to wait in the lobby. When we're done checking her we'll send a nurse to come get you." I nodded and went to sit down. When I sat down, I pulled out my phone. I dialed the Lancaster's home number. 

"Hello?" Mrs. Lancaster said.

"Hi. This is Augustus." I said.

"Gus! Is everything okay?" She asked.

"I'll tell you the story. So theres no elevators and a lot of stairs. I was in class when Hazel called my phone. I answered and she said she was really out of breath and was seeing black spots. We called 911. We're at the hospital right now." I said.

"Oh my God. Okay we're on our way." Then she hung up. I turned off my phone. My phone vibrated and I looked. A text from Sarah.

'Is everything okay? I heard what happened.'

'Yeah. We're at the hospital.' I typed.

'Okay. Well, Isaac and me are on our way.' 

'Okay. Bye.' I looked at my lock screen background. It was a picture of Hazel and me. We were dressed in coats and boots. There was some snow places. She had her arm around my waist and mine was around her shoulders. Her other hand was holding the handle to Philip. We were both smiling at the camera.  Behind us was a large Christmas tree. I smiled.

"Mr. Waters?" I looked up and saw a nurse in her early twenties. She had choppy brown hair and blue eyes. "Hazels ready to see you." I  stood up and followed her to Hazel's room. I opened the door and walked in. I pulled up a chair and sat down next to my girlfriend. She smiled. 

"Hey." She said.

"Hey." I replied. I leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on her lips. She pulled away after a few seconds and grabbed my hand. I laced our fingers together. "How are you feeling?" 

"Eh. My headache is a little better and I can breathe somewhat normally again."

"You scared me." I said. I kissed her hand.

"I know. You scared me when you were in the hospital. You wouldn't wake up for a week!" She exclaimed.

"I know. I'm sorry for that. Do you want something to eat or drink?" I asked. She nodded.

"Ice chips. They're over there." She pointed t the other side of the room. I got up and got her some ice chips. I grabbed a spoon off the little table and walked back to Hazel.

"There you go, Hazel Grace." I handed her the cup and spoon.

"Thanks." She said. Then she sighed. "I love you."

"I love you too." Then her parents walked in the door soon followed by Sarah and Isaac.

"Hazel!" Her parents exclaimed. They hugged her.

"Hey mom. Hey dad." Her dad walked over too me.

"Thank you for being there and for calling us." He said.

"No problem sir. I'd do anything for her." I said. He smiled at me and walked back to Hazel. Hazel looked at me and smiled which I returned. God, I'm so lucky to love her.
