AN:// Summery: Gus didn't die and is still in High School. ( he still has cancer tho. It will be more interesting. Sorry. ) and Hazel isn't a college student yet. ( they're dating ) and she gets one month to experience a real school.  She gets to pick what school and picks her boyfriends. I'm not going to say anymore.

Hazel POV:

I was in the doctors office waiting for my results. I had another scan today to see if my tumor has grown. The doctor comes back in the room holding X-ray pictures and some other papers. My mom is sitting next to me holding my hand when she asks, "Well?" The doctor looks at my mom.

"Congratulations, Mrs. Lancaster! Your daughters tumor has not grown in the past year. But it has also not shrunk." She explained. I breathed out a breath I didn't know I was holding. "Oh, also I would still keep her on the BiPAP ( I think that's what it's called ) at night."

"Okay. So are we free to go?" My mom asked. My doctor nodded and bid us farewell. My mom handed me my clothes and I made my way to the bathroom to change out of the hospital gown. After I was done my mom squeezed my shoulder. "We still have that  meeting today." I groaned.

"I know. To see if I get to go to school or not."
I explained. My mom nodded as we made our way to the meeting room. My mom opened the door and we stepped in.

"Good Afternoon, Hazel and Mrs. Lancaster." One of the doctors said. "So we are here to discuss if Hazel can go to school. We have went over her X-rays and charts. We have decided that she can go to high school for a month  she can go to anyone of these schools." He pushed a paper towards us. The schools on the paper were,
•Indiana High
•Herron High
And
•Munster High.
( the first one I think is made up the rest isn't.)
"These schools offered to take her only for a month others only said year rounded."  I looked at my mom and pointed at the first choice.

"Mom, that's where Gus and Isaac go. ( 🤷‍♀️ ) Can I go there?" I asked. She looked at the high school and smiled at me.

"Of course sweetie. She'll attend Indiana High. She knows some people there. When will she be starting?" My mom asked. The doctors looked at her.

"Next Monday. Now that is all we will tell the school. Have a nice day." The doctor said.

"You too." Mom said. We got up out of our chairs. My mom held the door open and I grabbed Philip. We walked into the lobby to find Gus sitting in one of the chairs. I walked up to him.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" I asked.

"What? I can't see if my girlfriends tumor had grown and if she gets to go to school?" He teased. I just laughed and kissed him.

"For your information, no my tumor didn't grow but it didn't shrink. And yes I get to go to school. More specifically Indiana High." When I said the name of the school his eyes lit up.

"Really!? That's great!" He exclaimed. He grabbed my hand and walked out of the hospital. "So. Wanna watch a movie. Isaacs waiting for us."

"Sure. Why not?" I turned to my mom. "Mom can I go watch a movie with him and Isaac?"

"Sure. Call me if anything happens." She kissed my cheek and walked towards the car. Gus and I got to the car and got buckled in.

After a long terrifying drive we parked in the driveway.

"God. Next time I'm driving." I muttered. We walked in the house. "Hi Mrs. and Mr. Waters."

"Hi Hazel!" They said back. Gus and I walked down the stairs. When I got down Augustus was already sitting on the couch next to Isaac.

"Wow just leave your girlfriend with the oxygen  tank alone on the stairs." I said. I sat down with my face in my hands and elbows on my knees.

"Sorry Hazel Grace." He said.

"It's fine. Just teasing. Now stop talking. I need to catch my breath." I said waving him off. A couple minutes later I got my breathing under control. "Hi Isaac."

"Hey Hazel. How was the doctor?" He asked.

"Okay. No tumor growth. No tumor shrinking. I get to go to school though with you and Gus."

"Really!? That's amazing! We can be like... what do cool kids call them? Squads. We can be a squad!" He exclaimed. We all laughed.

After the movie I decided to walk home.

"Are you sure you don't want me to come with or give you a drive?" Gus asked. I looked at him while tying my shoes.

"I'm fine. You have 1 leg and I hate your driving." I explained. He laughed.

"Just please call when you get to your house." He pleaded. I kissed him.

"I will. Bye. Love you." I told him.

"Love you too. See you on Monday." He said. I walked out the door. I was walking home and staring at the stars. I was wondering what my parents are going to say about their daughter, with an oxygen tank,  walking him alone in the dark. I laughed it off. I got to my house and sat on the porch. I took out my phone.

5 missed calls from Augustus.
Ring. Ring. Ring.

"Hazel?"

"Gus."

"Oh thank God. You wouldn't pick up."

"I'm fine! I'm sitting on my porch right now."

"Okay. I'm going to let you go. You need to get your breathing under control. I can hear it. Love you. Bye."

"Okay. Love you too."

"Okay" then the line went dead. When I could breath normally again I walked inside. My parents apparently were already in bed. I texted my mom that I was home. I got into bed and hooked my self up to the BiPAP. I fell into a deep sleep. Tomorrow I start school.
