☆Chapter 24☆
"HER EYES ARE THE LONGEST LOVE LETTERS
WRITTEN IN A LANGUAGE
ONLY THE MOON UNDERSTANDS.
SO YOU CAN READ IN MOONLIGHT. "
"BTS SONGS ARE BACK ON GLOBAL MUSIC CHARTS," Yoon Min showed the article on her phone to the idol.
Swinging her feet in the air excitedly, she began to read out the news for him. "YESTERDAY, DOZENS OF KPOP FANS WERE SEEN DANCING TO THE OLD SONGS OF BTS. THEY PLAYED PERMISSION TO DANCE, IDOL, BOY IN LUV AND DYNAMITE. EVEN THE MEMBER ON HIATUS, JIN'S SONG WAS ALSO PLAYED," she let out a squeal before hitting Seokjin on the arm inattentively, eyes so focused on the screen that she failed to notice how he dramatically winced quietly.
"THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THE OLD SONGS OF BTS WERE PLAYED AFTER JIN'S HIATUS 3 YEARS AGO. FANS HAVE BEEN POSTING THEIR COMMENTS ON SOCIAL MEDIA, ASKING ABOUT HIM. #MISSINGJIN HAS BEEN TRENDING ON TWITTER RIGHT AFTER A COUPLE OF HOURS SINCE THE EVENT. NOW FANS ARE SEARCHING FOR THE LATEST UPDATE ABOUT BTS JIN AND HYBE IS YET TO RESPOND TO IT."
The light from the screen brightened the happiness on her face under the stars. Seokjin heard the news and couldn't help but feel weird. He was overwhelmed with mixed emotions.
"Did you hear that, Jin-ssi? The world's going nuts over you again!" Yoon Min slapped his arm again as a gesture of her bursting joy.
It's been a very long time since someone posted a news about him. After yesterday when he danced to his heart's content, he's been feeling good and energetic. He kept feeling to dance and sing, the euphoria floating in his veins, recognizing his true talents. And it seemed like many fans were starting to remember and miss him again. They posted good wishes and messages about him on the internet. As Yoon Min pushed him to read those comments, he's been feeling positive.
But he was having a hard time believing it. Did his fans actually want him again?
"See? You only needed courage. The courage to do whatever you want," she glanced at him. "Do you feel good now?"
Nodding his head, he replied, "Yeah, I feel better," he added almost instantly, a smile fluttering on his lips. "I couldn't have done it without you though."
Yoon Min's cheeks reddened at his compliment. She chuckled sweetly before putting her phone beside her and glanced up at the starry night. Billions of stars blinked down at her. She breathed gently before letting out,
"I didn't do anything. It was you actually. Yesterday, not only did people remember you, but you were able to overcome the negative boundaries of your life. Right now, you're happy, and it's because you were brave enough to let go of everything that was never meant for you. Hate comments, wrong ideas, grieving tears, painful past...you let go of them yesterday. That's why, you're feeling better now."
She was an open book. A book that contained meaningful lines to help him stand on his feet after falling. Whatever she said bloomed a smile on his lips. Her words weren't unnecessary or useless. They seemed to be the perfect service for any moment. He felt peace when he was with her; she was a person who could only whisper and make him realize the worth. Not everyone could do that.
Yesterday if he hadn't seen her courage to speak her voice among the crowd, if he hadn't known she respected and loved him, he would've never believed she was capable of touching his heart among the millions. He had forgotten how to dance, how to move his body with rhythm, the emotions behind every step. She ignited the spark in his bones with her courage.
And he couldn't figure out why his insides were flipping with the thought of her since then.
Seokjin cleared his throat and glanced at the sky, "You know yesterday...it was really good. I feel very happy and I feel like I can do anything. I don't remember the last time I felt like this."
She asked, "What, you can't remember when was the last time you were happy?"
He shook his head. "I stand in front of my mirror and practice smiling. Can you believe that?"
His answer made her quiet. She lowered her eyes and started to think of something. Meanwhile, his gaze was on the dark sky. Today there wasn't a moon to accompany them. He realized the sky looked much alone and empty without the moon.
Then his thoughts got interrupted by her chirping. "I know what you should do!"
She smiled. "You should engage in some activities!"
Now that sounded something like Dr. Han would say. He always insisted on visiting his hobbies as he believed good things can never fail to bring a smile to your face. But Seokjin was never interested in any of those tasks. They were boring and frankly, he was never in the mood to do them.
With a cough, he denied. "No, Yoon Min."
"Why not?"
"Because...I tried, okay? Dr. Han used to give me these self-improvement tasks and believe me, they don't work."
She blinked twice. "Okay why is that?"
"I don't know. I just don't think I'll ever get my old life back. I mean seriously if I start doing what I used to love...I will go back to who I used to be? Just like that?"
He had a point and he knew it. After everything that happened to him, there was no way he could go back on stage and perform and be with his team members. It should take a miracle, not some useless therapist's advice.
Before he could complain more, she spoke up, "That's not what I meant though."
That piqued his interest. He leaned closer to listen.
"What I mean by activities are not your hobbies. These are small and simple things you yearn for in life. It doesn't have anything to do with what you used to love, it doesn't have to be big...maybe if you take a hot shower and cook something delicious, or maybe you stretch your body, take pretty pictures and draw a little heart...the world will feel like it's still in your hands."
She glanced at his face. "Look, you went through an unimaginable period of your life. You are still affected by the betrayal and the hatred from your close ones, that's normal. But this is life. People will screw you over. You'll witness life-changing things. You'll find things you won't expect to happen to you. At one point, you'll get tired of your own shit.
"But you gotta keep fighting for yourself. No one will take care and love you the way you can for your own being. You know what you need? You need to empty bad thoughts that have been circling you, you need to realize crap happens to people who can handle it. This is who you are, this is your life. So show up for yourself and don't let anyone take it from you."
Those words captivated his soul tightly, forcing him to let loose of all negative thoughts. He stared at her and never broke the spiritual contact. Since that day, not a single person told him these common words, no one bothered to comfort him or look after him. They left him alone, selfishly.
The way she spoke those healing words put medicine in his damaged heart. He wished to hear them again and again until his ears bleed and rottened. Because that was the best consoling words he ever heard.
Yoon Min smiled and moved closer to him. "I'm gonna make a list for you. There will be some challenges and you must complete them all. They won't be brainstorming but simple and easy. If you complete them all, I guarantee you will find yourself wanting to be happy again."
Somehow that didn't bother him. If Dr. Han said the exact same words, he would've frowned and rejected the offer. But there was something about her that was so spellbinding, that weakened his mind and heart.
She added quickly, "And of course, there will be a prize for you."
Seokjin chuckled at the mention of a prize. Keeping that smile, he looked away from her eyes because he couldn't control the urge to pat her head. She was so lovely.
With a soft smile, he said without looking at her. "You are good at that."
"At what?"
"Making people believe in themselves."
There was a sound of a content chuckle coming out of her mouth. She cupped her face like a flower."That's the biggest compliment I ever received."
