Chapter 6 The Marriage Proposal
The deejay instructed on the microphone that someone should call an ambulance quickly. When Chae Sue opened her eyes and realized what was happening, she tried to pull away from him but he held her tighter.
They were there struggling when she slapped him across the face with her hand. Dumbfounded, he let her go as he was now staring at her in disbelief. She looked away and was about to walk off when he held onto her hand.
Flashing off his hand furiously, she left the party in a delirious state. Alec tried to put up a fight by chasing after her when he heard the deejay on the microphone.
"The ambulance will be here shortly for Sae-ya" he said.
He made his way to the front of the room and sure enough Sae-ya was lying there unconscious. He took out his phone and was about to dial his personal doctor when Samir got up and used his hand to knock the phone from his hand.
"What's your problem?!" Alec exclaimed as he glared at Samir from head to toe.
Samir stood there without replying, but his enraged eyes were fixed on Alec. Alec looked at him, shook his head and laughed as he proceeded to take up his phone from off the floor.
Samir being annoyed walked over to him and stepped on the phone, making sure that he put all his body-weight on it so the glass screen broke.
Alec stared at him for about five seconds with rage in his eyes before grabbing his collar with both hands. Everyone soon forgot about Sae-ya who was still lying on the floor and gathered around the two males who were now minutes away from an all-out fight.
Samir did the same thing to Alec and the crowd let out a gasp. Alec asked him what he was doing and Samir did not reply.
"Let go before I make you!" Alec exclaimed.
"Make me do what exactly?!" Samir exclaimed as he gripped Alec's collar even tighter.
Alec looked away from Samir and let go off his collar. The crowd was now staring in disbelief as they thought that Alec was surrendering to Samir. Samir was still gripping Alec's collar when Alec used his right hand to punch him over.
The punch sent Samir flying into the crowd. He got up and was about to come at Alec when he heard the crowd whispering that his mouth was bleeding. He used his hand to touch his mouth and sure enough, it was bleeding.
Alec looked at him from head to toe before walking away. Samir was now enraged as he was approaching Alec from behind when the deejay announced that the ambulance was here.
They moved Sae-ya into the ambulance and asked who her guardian was. Both Alec and Samir raised their hands. Before either one of them could start a quarrel, they were both ushered into the back of the ambulance with her.
On their way to the hospital, they both sat on opposite sides of Sae-ya and watched her earnestly for a response. When they arrived, Sae-ya was quickly moved to the emergency room leaving Alec and Samir pacing the floor in the waiting room.
About one hour later the doctor finally came out and assured them that Sae-ya was alright. She said that Sae-ya was a little overwhelmed because of lack of sleep and her poor eating habit. she continued by saying that Sae-ya needed some time to rest and recuperate for a few days before walking off.
They both then breathe a sigh of relief that Sae-ya was ok as she was a very important girl to them. While they were waiting on her to wake up, Samir received a call. It was for Alec but Alec's phone was damaged and they knew that both Alec and Samir were at the same place. Samir relayed the message to Alec and volunteered to stay with Sae-ya so he could go back home and sort out the chaos that was still there at the party.
The next day, Alec got his phone fixed as he did not want to replace it because of the information he had on it. After fixing his phone the first person he decided to call was Chae Sue. The call went straight to the voicemail box. He did this a couple times before putting his phone in his pocket and drove straight over to her house.
When he arrived at her home he saw a black car parked outside with the chauffeur waiting. He ran up to the door and was about to ring the doorbell when the door opened. To his surprise Mrs. Chayette was standing right there looking overjoyed to see him.
They exchanged greetings and she told him that she had a business meeting to attend to but they should catch up over lunch sometime tomorrow as she was leaving within the week. After he agreed, she left in the black car and he entered the house and closed the door behind him.
While inside, the house was a mess and everything seemed to be out of place. He ran up to Chae Sue's room and knock on the door but there was no answer. He dialed her number again and there was still no answer. This made him worry.
If Mrs. Chayette had turned up so suddenly at Chae Sue's house after three years, then something wasn't right. He began to knock and call out her name at the same time. He did this for about a minute until the door finally opened.
As he was about to enter the room, she fell right into his arms. He helped her over to the bed and they both sat there. He started to embrace her while stroking her back gently and she began to cry on his chest.
After she was consoled enough she told him why she was crying. Chae Sue and her mother did not have a very good relationship. She was an only child and her father had passed away five years ago because of a plane crash.
His body was never recovered. Her mother was always busy with work and only cared about finding someone suitable for her to marry. She did not approve of her going to university without signing a contract that she would be married within the year.
Chae Sue being stubborn refused so she withdrew all her funding, leaving her with only the money that her father allotted for her university funding. The house she lived in was willed to her for her 16th birthday.
Thinking that her mother would accept defeat as she was silent for the past three years, Chae Sue let her guard down once more. Now her mother has returned with another marriage proposal because her business needed some funding to expand.
They spoke for a while and before they knew it, it was already evening. Alec told her to get dressed as he was going to take her out to dinner. She smiled and told him that she was going to shower first and he nodded.
"So where are we going to have dinner?" she inquired while walking off.
"It's a surprise" he replied while winking.
He was there waiting in her bedroom as he thought of a way to properly confess to her when she entered the room. She was wrapped in her towel while the water dripped from her hair.
"Could you pass me that towel please?" she said while pointing at the towel on the bed beside him.
He sat there for a moment admiring her beautiful physique before taking up the towel. He then walked towards her. Her hand was stretched out to receive the towel when he raised his hand and put the towel on her head instead.
"I'll do it for you" he said while turning her around to face the mirror.
After drying most of the water with the towel, he put her on the bed to sit and reached the blow dryer to finish drying her hair. He was doing this for a while when he stopped suddenly.
"I'll wait for you downstairs" he said while handing her the blow dryer.
"Thanks Alec" she said while he was walking off.
He stopped and walked towards her again and bends slightly to give her a kiss on the forehead.
"Don't mention it. I'll wait for you downstairs" he continued before leaving her to get dressed.
Thirty minutes had now passed since Alec was waiting downstairs for her. He decided to clean up the mess that was there just to pass the time.
When she finally came downstairs, she began to look around. She smiled at Alec who returned her smile as he approached her. They were now face to face, she gave him a peck on his lips. Before he could react to the sensation he felt, his phone rang and he answered it.
It was his dad; he wanted them to have dinner with him at Revia's restaurant as he had a great announcement to make. On their way to the restaurant, both Alec and Chae Sue were excited as they were wondering if their Tennis Kiddies Coaching application was approved for them to travel to France.
When they arrived at the restaurant, they were still both excited about the good news that Mr. Sazer was going to tell them. Alec parked his car and opened the car door for Chae Sue who smiled at him as she got out of the car.
He then gave her his arm to hold as they entered the restaurant looking like a real couple to the onlookers. As they were approaching the table that Mr. Sazer had reserved, he summoned the waiter to bring them a bottle of champagne.
"Good evening my dears. Did I call you at a bad time?" Mr. Sazer asked while ushering them with his hand to sit down.
They both replied that it was ok.
Mr. Sazer said that he had preordered their favourite foods and that they would eat when his guest arrived who would be there shortly. Both Alec and Chae Sue stared at each other in bewilderment as they were trying to think of the person who was his guest.
Just as Alec was about to inquire who the guest was, his dad stood up with opened arms.
"There you are darling" he said with a pleasant smile on his face.
When they both turned around, to Chae Sue's horror, it was her mother. She approached Mr. Sazer and they greeted each other formally as business partners and friends. He then pulled out her chair for her to sit down. She then greeted both Alec and Chae Sue before turning to Mr. Sazer again to converse.
"Are you alright?" Alec whispered in Chae Sue's ear while touching her back gently.
She looked up at him and smiled, but he could tell that there was something hidden behind her fake smile. The meals came and they ate while conversing. However, the air was always tense when Chae Sue and her mother spoke.
When the dinner was almost ended, Mrs. Chayette stood up with her champagne glass and said she had a toast to make. Everybody stopped what they were doing and raised their glasses while looking at her.
"Cheers to the successful marriage arrangement of my Chae Sue and her dear beloved and soon to be husband........"
"Alec!" Chae Sue said while getting up and raising her glass towards her mother and Mr. Sazer.
Mr. Sazer smiled at them both while Alec stared at her in amazement. Her mother stood there in shock with her eyes wide opened. She stood there frozen while holding her glass in the air.
Chae Sue leaned over and clink her mother's glass, tilted her head slightly sideways and gave her a smirk before putting her glass to her mouth.
