Chapter 2
The light of day dimly lit the town, shining through the cottage windows, it was a new day, Aria groans softly and stretched wide yawning, she sits up and looks around the room noticing she's in her bedroom, in her bed, her head clouded by just waking up before getting out of bed and slowly walking to the bathroom, she splashed water on her face to wake her up then suddenly jolts to stand straight "The storm, the lightning...h...him....I have to tell Mr Headerson" she said rushing into her room and getting dressed quickly "wait....how did I get into bed? I was at the kitchen sink.....this doesn't make any sense" she said now plopping down onto her bed confused putting on her shoes and brushing her hair, she could figure it out, the last thing she remembered was seeing him
She snatched up her hat and placed it on her head, rushing out of the house to the library, she was in such a hurry that she had no time to think about what the townsfolk were saying, she didn't care at this moment she just ran the best she could and knocked on the library door, pushing it open "Mr Headerson! Mr Headerson!" She yelled looking around for him
Mr Headerson walked into the room and looks at her worried "What is it Miss May?" He asked only to be face to face with Aria
"I saw him last night, in the storm I saw him" she stated, Mr Headerson raised an eyebrow "Aria you can't say things like that, people are going to think that you have gone insane and will shun you further" he said pulling out a chair for her to sit down
"But it's true Mr Headerson, he was there outside of my kitchen window" she said sitting in the chair catching her breath, her chest rising and falling quickly
"Are you sure it was him? Did you see his face? Besides why would he return now after many years past?" He asked pouring her a cup of hot tea, Aria hooked her fingers around the handle of the teacup and slowly raised it to her lips sipping it carefully to not burn herself "I don't know, but I know that it was him I have this feeling" she said placing her cup back onto the saucer
Mr Headerson sits down in his chair and sighed softly "Aria promise me you won't speak of this again" he said softly causing Aria to be shocked "You don't believe me....after everything I told you, you're now deciding to shun me like the others" she stood up quickly from the table
"No Aria it's not like that" Mr Headerson tried to explain but Aria cut him off "No I understand quite clearly, once my mother finishes the book I will return it to you" she said and walked to the door "good day Sir" was the last thing she said before walking out of the library in a huff, she was frustrated the one person she could trust, the one person she could talk to, shunning her like the rest of this horrid town, Mr Headerson may not believe her but she knew what she saw and was determined to prove it.
"Extra Extra Read all about it! Miracle at work, lady from illness cured after several years!" A young boy uttered waving a newspaper, Aria rushed over to him "how much for a paper?" She spoke quickly "Three coins Miss" he said then looks at her up and down "Say aren't you the girl that everyone hates?" He continued earning a sigh from her "unfortunately yes I am, please I will purchase a paper from you" she said softly, the boy held out a hand to collect the coins "Five coins pay up" he said with a cheeky grin on his face, Aria though shocked by the boy's act nodded and paid the five coins without question before taking one of the newspapers "Thank you" she said and walked away nose deep into the paper reading the article, about the lady cured of illness "more proof, it has to be him, it has to be" she said and glanced up from the paper.
Her face turned pale as she noticed she was in an alleyway "I must have took a wrong turn somewhere" she said looking around for the exit or the path she took to get here but alas she couldn't find it, what once was an opening now a wall "I could have sworn there was an opening somewhere" she mumbled placing a hand on the wall, soft grunts and groans escaped her lips as she used all her strength to push open the wall in hopes it was a secret door, but it only left the girl panting and breathless.
"It's no use trying to leave my dear you are stuck here till the walls shift" a deep soothing voice purred echoing around her,Aria turns quickly to see a hooded figure with piercing green eyes "Wh....Who are you?" She asked frightened keeping her distance, "Miss Aria May I'm offended by you not remembering my name" he said as a white toothy grin spread across his face "let me help you remember" he purred "I believe you shouted, I hate you I hate you" he retorted. Aria Froze it was him, she found him "Y...you're the Cat!" She said and smiled widely "I found you, I can't believe I finally found you! All this time you were hiding here!" She laughed softly then sighed looking around "where is here anyway?" She asked sliding down the wall and plopped down in the ground
"This Miss May is the Cursed Town, you live here, we all do, nothing has changed you're still in the alleyway, the wall is not there, or is it? That's for you to decide" he said softly seemingly speaking in riddles "since that night this town has never been the same we all know it, yet we all chose to live it" he said and walked towards her his hips swayed gracefully "no one is safe here, no one is allowed to leave, all because of the mistake you made that one fateful night"
"All I wanted was to play, why was that such a hard thing for you to do?" She asked confused by it all, "i can't just tell tales now, you may leave, until we meet again" he said and suddenly the alleyway returned to normal and the cat was no where to be seen, Aria stood and dusted her dress walking out of the Alleyway his words repeated in her mind, What did he mean by that? She sighed in defeat and made her way home before her mother began to worry for her.
