(Alex P.O.V.)

We sat down at the table and are waiting for Verone. Monica starts eating like it's a natural thing.

"You sure are cozy in this big ol' mansion. Sleepin' with the enemy." Rome says. Monica notices Verone coming and waves at him. Rome and Brian go to stand up.
"No, no, no. Sit down." Verone says as he gets to the table and sits.
"Nice Ferrari you got in the driveway," Brian says.
"I'm glad you like it," Verone says emptying the package on his plate. "Darlin', will you hold that?" Verone asks handing Monica the package.

"We did all that for a damn cigar?" Rome asks.
"No, you did that for a job. Do you think that I would let somebody impound my car? The boatyard's mine. Oh, by the way, you two owe me a gate. But I'll just take it off your cut." Verone explains.
"Off our cut. Yeah, I like that." Rome says.
"Good," Verone says.
"What's this job you got us anyway?" Brian asks before Rome can say anything else.
"Come with me," Verone says getting up. We all get up and follow him. When we are a ways from the house we stop. "The house has ears in it. I have something I want you to carry from North Beach to the Keys." Verone explains.

"What is it?" Brian asks. Verone looks at me and I nod, letting him know now would be a good time to shoot them down.
"Just put in the car what I tell you to, drive it to me and don't let anyone stop you, understand?" Verone says taking control.
"Yeah. Any chance of cop trouble?" Brian asks.
"No. I'm buying you a window of time, but it's not gonna be open very long. You make it, and I'll personally hand you a 100 G's. Alex will be riding with you. I will notify her anytime you both need to meet us somewhere." Verone explains.
"Make it 100 G's a piece, Papi. Look, man, obviously, your pockets ain't nervous." Rome says messing with Verone's pockets. I seriously want to punch him in the face right now for being so stupid.

"Hey, hey, hey. Don't ever touch me." Verone says pointing a finger at Rome.
"Ours are empty. Like I said, we hungry." Rome continues.
"I got an idea. Why don't you two boys and lady join us at the club later tonight?" Verone asks.
"Yeah. Pearl at midnight?" Monica says.
"We'll get to know each other a little better," Verone says.
"We'll be there," I say.
"All right," Rome says.
"Sounds good," Brian says.
"We'll see you tonight," Monica says.
"See ya," I say and we begin to head to the cars. Monica heads to the house.

"Hey, you!" Verone yells making us stop. "Your pockets aren't empty," Verone says.
"Damn," Rome says.
"I'll take my cutter back," Verone says.
"Stupid ass." Brian and I say at the same time. Rome and I walk back over to Verone.

"Hey, man, I figured you had, like, 12 or 13," Rome says trying to play it off. Rome hands the cutter back to Verone.
"You're not too bright, are you? Just get out of here." Verone says to Rome.
"I'll catch up in a minute," I say to Rome and Brian. They head to the cars. "I'll see if I can't set him straight," I tell Verone and he nods before grabbing my face and kissing me on the cheek. I fake a smile at him before I take off to the cars, cause I am totally grossed out. I end up behind Brian and Rome, staying close enough to hear what they say, without them knowing.

"Same old Rome, doin' the same old stupid shit," Brian says giving Rome a noogie.
"Get off me, man," Rome says shoving him off.
"What, runnin' your mouth? Insultin' people? Stealin' Verone's shit?" Brian asks.
"Think I'm gonna let somebody stare me down? I didn't let nobody stare me down in jail, homeboy. Think I'm gonna let it fly on a beach?" Rome asks Brian. "And, you, I'll take my cutter back. His rich ass." Rome says trying to imitate Verone.

"And you're packin'!" Brian continues naming off all the things Rome did wrong.
"Like you ain't?" Rome challenges. Brian doesn't say anything. "Exactly," Rome says proving his point.
"From here, I do the talkin'," Brian says.
"Looks like you wanna do a little more than that." Rome smarts off.
"Oh, and what's that supposed to mean?" Brian asks.
"It means you always gettin' in trouble over a female, Brian. And better yet this one is a cop." Rome explains. They get into their cars. I wait a little bit in my hiding spot and then walk out. I walk to Brian's car and get in.

"Let's go to Tej's before we go check in. Just in case Verone sends someone to follow us." I say to Brian. He nods and takes off. The ride to Tej's is silent, but it was kinda comfortable.

We arrive at the garage. I get out and go change out of the kinda formal clothes I was wearing, since it was my first day, into shorts and a t-shirt.

(Brian P.O.V.)

We arrive Tej's and Alex gets out going who knows where.

"Man, Tej's garage is ridiculous. He's got the best of everything. Snap-on tools. All these lifts are brand-new. They're only a couple of months old." I explain to Rome as I show him the garage. I notice Alex talking to Jimmy, so I head over there with Rome following behind. Alex had gone and changed clothes. "Hey, Yo, Jimmy. What's up, man?" I say once we reach them.

"What's up, Bullet?" Jimmy asks.
"That's Rome right there," I say pointing to Rome. "When you got a second, I want you to check out the Evo and the Spyder and make sure everything's copacetic," I tell Jimmy.
"Evo? Where'd you get an Evo from?" Jimmy asks.
"Well, it a long story," I explain.
"I got you, man," Jimmy says, not worried about it.
"All right, thanks, Jimmy," I say before turning to Rome. "Come check this out," I tell him.
"It's so hot and humid out here, I can't even wear no drawers," Rome says checking all the girls out.
"Yeah, tell me about it," I say smiling while my mind can't help but wander to Alex.
"Look at all this potential out here," Rome says smiling like a kid in candy land. I take him over to Tej and Suki before he can start trailing after the girls.

"You're making me lose money. Don't do that to me right now. I cannot take that right...Come on, Ray! Do it!" Tej yells through his megaphone. Tej is hosting a jet ski race.
"Hey, Tej Parker, Roman Pearce," I say introducing them. Tej and I fist bump, then him and Rome fist bump.
"Come on, baby," Tej says through the megaphone.

"Basically, he's the man to know in Miami. He's got his finger in absolutely everything. It's just the way it is." I explain to Rome. "What's goin' on, Suki?" I ask.
"What's up, baby?" Suki says as I give her a kiss on the cheek. "How you doing?" She asks Rome as they shake hands.
"I'm good." Rome answers. "What's this?" He asks noticing her sketchbook.
"What's the latest?" I ask. She shows us a Nissan Skyline with a dragon down the side.
"It's a work in progress. It's not finished yet." She answers.
"That's some artistic shit. You got talent, girl." Rome says.
"Yeah, she's good. She's the best." I say.

"Do or die. Bring it home, Ray. Bring it home, Ray. Bring it home. Bring it home. Yeah, baby! Pay up! Pay up! Pay up!" Tej says through the megaphone.
"That's how they do it out here, man?" Rome asks.
"Every day," I answer.
"That's crazy," Rome says with a big grin on his face. Tej starts collecting the money and walks over to us.

"What's up, man?" Tej asks.
"What's up?" I ask as we bro hug.
"You race too?" Rome asks.
"No, man. I hit a wall doin', like, a buck 20 couple years ago, you know? Ever since then, I just been organizing and collecting, man." Tej explains still collecting money.
"Tej, check it out. He's gonna be in town for a while. Is there any way he could use that cot?" I ask Tej.
"What's wrong with your place, man?" Tej asks.
"No, I don't wanna stay with him. He got bad habits. A'ight, man." Rome says.
"Whatever, man. Show him around real quick, a'ight? I'll be up there in a minute." Tej says still collecting money.
"Thanks," I say before we head back to the garage. Jimmy and Alex are looking at the cars.

(Alex P.O.V.)

Jimmy and I start looking at the cars while Brian starts showing Rome around.

"I get the Evo. You get the Spyder." I say.
"A'ight," Jimmy says. We pop the hoods to the cars. Markham made sure that he wouldn't ever lose them, that's for sure. The cars are so wired up it's crazy. Brian and Rome come back.

"What's up, Jimmy, Alex? So you ever seen anything like this before?" Brian asks.
"No. Both of them are wired up like I never seen before." Jimmy answers.
"What?" Rome asks.
"They got them wired with G.P.S," I say and Brian nods his head.

"Yeah, man. That's why Markham knew we were gonna be at that impound lot." Brian says.
"He must have thought you were runnin'," I say.
"Yo, you the master mechanic. Why don't you just yank that shit up out there?" Rome asks.
"I'll try, but this ain't LoJack. The D.I.S. Box, the engine management system, hell, the main harness..." Jimmy starts explaining.
"The G.P.S. is spidered into all of that," I explain.

"Hey, tell me somethin', man. Do I even want to know where the Skyline is, Dawg? Or where you been the past couple of days? Or where the hell you got these rides from?" Jimmy asks. Suki and Tej walk up and start inspecting the cars.
"They're hot," Suki says.
"Yeah, they are hot. They are wired so hot that whoever's trackin' these things will know every time we don't wear our seatbelts." I say. Suki and I hug real quick, then Tej and I hug.
"All right, Jimmy, just do what you can do, bro," Brian says.
"I got ya," Jimmy says.
"Thanks, man," Brian says.

"Man, we need to get these on the street ASAP." Tej says. I notice Roberto and Enrique across the street. I pull Brian and Rome to the side.
"Hey, check it out. You see that Cadillac across the street over there?" I ask them.
"Yeah." They both say.
"Yeah, well, they've been on us since we left Verone's house," I explain.
"I got this," Rome says before walking away.
"Come on. Let's get the Evo ready for an easy escape. Then we can go check in." I say to Brian.
