Chapter 29

Ashley

A guilty smile flashed on Sam's lodged face, positioned coincidentally at the place I hid first. Who would've thought that without me the boys would hide, fearing their lives? Well, to be honest, I don't think we would've got through our past affairs as smoothly without me, pardon the "modesty".

I shook my head and beckoned big bro forward. Big bro, still feels weird.

Vampires passed us but most people had managed to flood to the sea on the deck. I didn't know whether or not death was less imminent out there but it was worth a shot. At least the sights would be nicer out there than in here. I could guarantee that every human in that room would agree.

"Watch out!"

A voice called, my instinct was to turn around but I was only met with a familiar concerned face. His eyes glueing to being me. With a huff, I turned around once more, suddenly wide-eyed when a vampire sprang into hungry action.

My head met the bloody floor. I grimaced feminine like when my hair soaked in the souvenirs of a 5* meal. Once again I was attempting to prior an ugly face off of my weak frame. The guy's teeth were shining, gnawing at mid-air craving my taste.

"I can't wait to taste you" he growled, licking his chapped and ageing lips.

"Well, you're gonna be waiting a long time bud. See you in hell," with that's I pinned him down, straddling him awkwardly.

A steak with my name on connected with his insides, spluttering a messy spray of liquid over my face. Not something I was unfamiliar with at this age...

"Are you alright?" Sam called, his legs carrying him lovingly towards me.

I expected him to grimace and pat me lightly at the sight of my date outfit but he went in full body with a hug. Heat refilled my body and I felt 100% better and more energised as cliché as it sounds.

"Some date huh?" I smirked pulling away.

His signature smile came out to play but not until his eyes scanned a certain dark-haired stranger in my shadow. His lips clasped shut, an indescribable look bringing the colour out of his shirt and into his face.

"Keep your guard up kid...always alright?" An American sounded placing his hands on my shoulders as if trying to be the father figure here.

"Alright alright, remember your my brother not my dad" I chuckled lightly, filling the silence of the room.

"You're her what?!"

My smile dropped, I scanned the room remembering our situation and where we were. I excepted more to be here, it wasn't as if they could kill 20 or more vampires from behind a door!

"Where's the rest of them?"

I looked sharply to see closed mouths, hiding a wave of lies.

"Sam part of our relationship is to not tell lies" I reminded him with a stern look.

"What a gross place you know what his had definitely changed things, definitely a 1 on my scale of pizzerias now..."

"Sam!"

"Look, they left alright? It seemed as soon as Billy The Kid here left, they lost interest" he said totally facing the floor until the insults of the stranger flew out.

I mean they could be right, hell I didn't even know his name for fuck's sake! So why the hell did I trust him immediately?

"So that's why we're keeping an eye on him for now" Edgar croaked joining Sam in a line.

"A very close eye" Alan added joining his brother as always.

I was in the middle of a very threatening tension here. There were glares exchanged and here I was worried about the rest of Santa Carla. Maybe I needed to sort my life out first before saving any town.

Something had to be done. Fast.

"Look, fucking forget about his alright? Yeah, guys maybe we can't trust him but he knows about vampires, claims to be my family so it's the best thing we have right now alright?"

My head suddenly turned to brother dear.

"As for you, I don't even know your name. Give me any reason whatsoever why I should trust you" I glared impatiently tapping my foot and crossing my arms.

The boy seemed to have a whole cabinet of reasons up in his mind as he searched for the perfect one. I already knew the answer though, family.

"Look I get it, a strange guy comes out of the blue and claims to be your brother. Crazy. I can't give you a reason, I can't. I just need you, all of you to trust me. As she said I'm the best you've got," he panted honestly as if we were holding the rope that was supporting him of off a cliff.

I looked back, satisfied nods came my way except for Sam's doubtful glare. I cleared my throat, gave him a look. His baby blues softened when he saw my own orbs staring lovingly but persuasively into his. After a beat, a nod came from him too.

"What is it that you need exactly?" I asked, doubt suddenly filling my mind again.

"Ugh, I need your help..."

I hummed in order for him to counties, we were wasting valuable time and lives at that playing games and playing deal or no deal.

"There is only one head vampire right?" He asked us all.

"Right" Edgar agreed.

"Wrong. There is only one head vampire for each gang of regular vampires. That means there are tons and tons out there" he explained harshly at first then harmlessly.

"So if you were to cure someone, you'd have to slay the leader of the gang that bit that person?" I questioned, suddenly grasping he idea with folding arms.

"Exactly, on that track actually..." he lingered.

A hand connected with my shoulder, an olive one belong to Sam. He stayed supportably by my side, looking up at the brunette filled with only personal trust issues, not general ones. Just cause I had something to do with it.

"What are you infected or something?" The blonde stuttered, his hand massaging my shoulder almost distracting me from this mystery being uncovered.

Only a nervous smile and a neck scratch answered our question, which only meant one thing....

This guy was a half vampire.
