chapter three: oh, that's funny
The 6 boys circled around the couch, watching your sleeping form.
They all stared, watching as you laid unwaveringly.
You looked pale, like you had seen a ghost. You hadn't- obviously, but what you had seen before passing out was close enough.
You watched a boy transform into a crab, another boy deflect a knife that had been thrown at his chest and this Taehyung kid barely even flinch when he was face to face with the blade that was suspended in the fucking air.
So yeah, maybe passing out to recollect your thoughts was the right call. You just wish you hadn't done it in front of so many people.
"She looks dead." The boy with pink hair muttered, scratching the bubble gum locks that sat against the back of his neck.
"She's not dead Jimin- she'll be walking up soon." Taehyung answered softly, "Maybe we should've knocked on the door and just asked to talk."
Jungkook scoffed, "Right, like knocking on her door saying 'Hey! I'm Taehyung and these are my friends! We've been stalking your every move for months because you have these secret unlocked powers that you don't know about and guess what! Namjoon can turn into a fish!"
Namjoon glared, shoving the younger softly before recoiling his hand in pain. Of course Jungkook has to harden his chest. "Ow! Leave me out of this."
"Hey! It was your fault she fainted! You decided to turn into a fucking crab with no explanation!" Jin accused, crossing his arms in front of his chest.
Namjoon rolled his eyes, "Would you prefer me having a knife in my chest right now? Like that would make it all so much better."
"You could have at least shifted into something cute, like a puppy, or a hamster." Hoseok added.
Taehyung stared down at you still, watching as your chest rose with the air you breathed. His eyebrows were furrowed slightly as thoughts raced through his mind. He was perplexed to say the least, between all the boys in the room with him combined and you- your location and your powers were the most difficult to figure out.
He still doesn't know what the hell your capable of, whenever he dreamt or thought of you it was all a mess. It was jumbled into different visions that didn't make any fucking sense and it frustrated him to no end- he just wanted to know so he could find a way to help, to keep you safe.
Taehyung had to keep everyone safe- he supposed that was his role anyways, why he'd been gifted foresight in the first place. The same thought had ran through his head the moment his powers had first appeared.
'Find them, help them, find them, help them-'
So that he did. It was a long time back now, over three months ago he had found Namjoon, then Jungkook, Jimin, Yoongi, Hoseok and Jin.
And then finally, finally- he found you as well.
But as it is known, that wasn't an easy task- and he doubts that getting you to come with them, to believe them wasn't going to be either. Despite all that,Taehyung knew he had to try because if he looked hard enough, far enough- even if it was just a sliver of sight- he could see them being happy together- all of them.
He just hopes his powers continue being as reliable as they had been, thank god for that.
You began to stir and the boys all held their breaths before scrambling away from the couch and sitting in various places in the living room- away from you. They didn't want to risk a surprise knife in their chests ever again.
You felt your chest lighten abruptly as you sat up gasping a big breath of air eagerly into your lungs. You sighed in relief, glad that it had all just been a dream-
"Hey sleepy face!" You flinched as you heard a soft and excited voice break the comfortable silence in your mind. You snap your neck towards the voice and see the six boys all huddled up uncomfortably in the couch together, lacking space.
Of course it hadn't been a dream, because god never wanted to give you a break- ever- it seems.
You sat up quickly, your head slightly spinning before you stumbled off the couch to create space between you and the others.
You were angry and deep deep down- hidden under all the walls you put up over the years- you were scared too. What you couldn't understand was whatever has been happening for the past couple of months- all the surprise objects disappearing and reappearing in your hand, feeling as if people were watching you from all angles everywhere you go?
Hadn't been part of your imagination at all.
"(Y/N)! We owe you an explanation. We don't have any intent to hurt you- promise!- we just want to talk!" Jungkook said, a little smile stretching across his face.
You gave them a hardened glare before sighing, turning your back to them and walking into the kitchen. You heard a little "huh" as you passed through the doorway yet you decided to pay no mind.
You were fucking thirsty.
You poured a glass of water for yourself before taking small sips. The boys in the living room glanced at each other confusingly, hearing the water run from where you were.
You placed one of your hands on the counter near the sink, the other raising the glass to meet your lips as you tried to centre your thoughts.
Maybe you should hear them out.
They've already displayed evidence of some sort of ability, they're strong but they also seem kind of stupid.
It's clear that they aren't too sure what they are doing, but if they really wanted to cause harm they probably would've by now. They can deflect and stop your knives in midair, you doubt you could win a fight against the 6 of them the way you stand now.
Still, look ready to fight, act like you could win if they tried it and they won't go against you. Stay on guard- look unfazed at all times and show no fear. It's worked multiple times in the past and with these idiots it should be fool-proof.
Shutting down emotionally has always been something you were good at, and right now you were glad that it might just work in your favour.
You tilted the glass back, drinking the water before placing the cup in the sink. You walked towards the door and opened it to walk into the living room. The boy stared as you moved and you could feel the tension between them.
You remained unfazed and held eye contact and you picked up one of the knives from the floor, walking over to the couch and sitting before twirling the knives in your fingers.
"Then talk." You said flatly, "it better make sense or I'll call the police, but I can't promise you won't be bleeding before then."
Perfect. Remain confident and act like a threat.
"You wouldn't do that." The black haired boy, Jin- you think- said, he had a saddened look on his face, as if he could see right through you. As if he already knew the depths of who you were and it pissed you off.
You took the knife in your hand and stabbed it hard on the table, it pierced the wood until the only visible part of it was the handle. You sat back against the couch.
"Talk" you repeated.
Taehyung stared at you, gulping a little bit before shifting in his seat. "This might sound a bit crazy to you, but we all have something in common with one another."
"And what's that?" You said, you were intrigued but you tried to keep your face flat. You couldn't be seen as vulnerable in front of these guys, you had no idea who they were.
"Well, it's hard to explain-"
"We all have special abilities and so do you. The government has had their eye on you for almost three months and we have to get you into the safe house where we live before they try and capture you." One of the boys said, Jungkook- the one who had deflected the knife with his chest- the one you saw on the news earlier.
"Jungkook!" Taehyung shouted, "I wanted to explain it to her!" He pouted as if he were a child.
Yeah, scratch that- these guys are harmless.
Jungkook shook his head, "You were gonna try and make it all complicated."
Crab boy, Namjoon- you think- raised his hand as if he were asking a question before adding. "I think the situation at hand is already as complicated as it can get."
You sighed again before taking the knife from the table and putting it back where you had gotten it at the beginning of the night. At the moment, what Jungkook had said sounded almost equally believable and unbelievable all at the same time. You'd seen their abilities in action already, and unless that was an A-class magic trick then maybe this all wasn't far off from the truth. They seem interesting enough, they probably did have some sort of ability to boot.
But you? You were regular, normal. There was nothing special about you, all there was for you was insatiable hunger and trust issues. That's really all there is to it.
"I-" You stuttered for the first time in years and you grimaced in response. You gathered yourself and rolled your shoulders back before responding again. "Sorry, but I think you've got the wrong person, which is a waste since you've been watching a regular person all this time."
"But-" One of them said.
"I hope you find them soon, sounds like they're in a real pickle." You sat up from the couch and dusted your pants off before walking away from the group. "Thanks for breaking into my house for no reason, the doors that way-"
"Stop!" A voice shouted and you felt like you were frozen in your tracks, with your back to the boys. You turned slowly and saw Taehyung moving towards you, an angry but desperate look on his face. "We have the right person! I've been seeing you every night in my dreams for months!"
"That's a little weird" You muttered to yourself.
"Haven't you realized it already?" Taehyung asked intensely, he was so close that you could feel his breath on your face. "People watching you when you thought you were alone? The strange things that happen around you? "
It was like you stopped breathing, all the weird coincidences that had been pushed to the back of your mind had begun to move to the forefront. Had that all really happened because of you?
"The remote." You said to yourself, yet the boys all reacted to it with the same amount of enthusiasm.
"Yeah!" Jimin said, rushing to stand next to you. "I saw it appear in your hand, even though it wasn't there before. That happens a lot doesn't it?"
You rolled your eyes in annoyance before nodding.
"You threw it all the way down the hallway, and it made a hole in the door!" Jimin continued, "How the hell is that regular!"
You looked towards the boys that remained on the couch, all having the same hopeful look on their faces. Taehyung and Jimin stood in front of you, staring at your face with anticipation. You had many many questions.
But the look on their faces told you that they'd answer them all if you asked. These boys were interesting and a small voice in the back of your head asked if being ''normal'' and ''regular'' was really something you wanted to be.
You realized you didnt.
You looked around your house and although you'd never admit it, it was cold and lonely here. It would probably take months for your parents to even notice you're gone. What's the point in staying if no one waits for you here? If you left would you even want to come back?
You doubt it.
So, for the first time in your life, you decided to take a chance- one that changed your life forever.
"Well," You started. "When do we leave?"
The smiles that graced their faces was one that you couldn't forget if you tried.
Taehyung sighed in relief, "Tonight"
