Woaaaaah...I never realized that...so I guess yeah the wizard of oz is a book by L. Frank Baum (don't even ask why I remember the author's name...) and they made it into a movie of course...and a musical because hey why not, make everything into a musical! Okay...and then the dude who wrote the wicked novel which I um don't really need to read I guess based it off of the wizard of oz obviously...yeah so then they made that into a musical and voila!
