Chapter 13
A few hours had passed since the incident. Kasey and Kellie were staying with Tom and Dan, Jae and Lynne were off on a trip, Kasey was still in the living room and Eleanor was now napping. This left Erin alone in the small study. While in the study, Erin came along a small music box that was on a shelf. It hadn't been touched in a while. The music box had belonged to Erin's mother. Just looking at it brought back memories of her childhood. She dusted off the top, turned the small, metal key and then opened the lid. Surprisingly, the music box still worked after years. A small tune began to play quietly, growing louder slightly. Erin hummed along, placing the music box on the desk. She sat down and began writing in her diary. Erin's mother had taught Erin the lyrics to the tune that the music box was playing. Erin had remembered them, but while the tune played, Erin's emotions from the incident started to come back.
"No...Go away." She muttered, as if her emotions would just leave her alone if she asked.
All the sadness that Erin was feeling from Kasey going to the elderly couples house, all the anger on why she didn't tell her that she was leaving. She was done. Maybe if she died... She would've have to feel anymore! There was a small knock on the study door. It would probably be Eleanor, but she was sleeping last Erin checked.
Erin sighed before answering,"Come in."
The person walked in, the last person Erin expected, Periwinkle.
"Hi Mrs Hilton." Peri sighed, did she know about what happened?
"Oh hello there, Peri. Did you need something?" Erin asked, closing her diary.
"I was just coming to see if you were okay." Peri told her.
"Perfectly fine, maybe you should check with Kasey." Erin stated, almost trying to leave the conversation as soon as possible.
"Kasey was the one who told me what had happened between everyone. So, I came to see you since no one else is around to check on." Peri was like that, she'd check on others.
"Well, I need the toilet so... Eleanor's in out bedroom." Erin explained, before walking out of the study, knowing full well that she wasn't going to the bathroom. Peri glanced at Erin while she left the study. She had a bad feeling, so she walked over to the desk. Closing the music box before opening Erin's diary to see if she had written anything that Kasey didn't mention. Peri's breath quickened as as she read the last sentence written. It read, 'My feelings are going to be the death of me. Literally.'
"Oh no.." Peri muttered, closing the diary and ran out of the study, going to the bathroom to check if Erin actually did go there.
As she expected, Erin was gone and the only other people in the house were sleeping or emotionally drained. Peri grabbed her shoes from the top of the stairs and put them on before running downstairs.
"I'll be back soon, babe!" Peri ran past the living room and to the front of the house, closing the door while she ran out.
"Where?-" Kasey began but quickly silenced herself, seeing that Peri had already left.
When Peri got outside, she seen that Erin was standing at the front of the house, down at the pavement. As Erin revealed her wings and jumped off the ground Peri ran and jumped onto her back.
"I'm sorry!" Peri apologised while she held onto Erin.
She couldn't let her do this.
"What the?!" Erin squeaked, continuing on her flight path.
"I can't let you do this to yourself!" Peri squealed, she hated heights.
"Watch me!" Erin stated, landing on the path that lead to the picnic hill.
"What about the others and Eleanor?!" Peri asked. "Don't you know how they'll feel?"
"All I'm concerned about is getting my feelings away as fast as possible." Erin told her, running forward and jumping through the bushes.
"You don't have to." Peri whispered while she ran after Erin.
"I do. You don't understand." Erin started, looking out at the beautiful clearing,"All my life, my feelings have been the worst thing that's happened to me!"
"Theres other ways to deal with things like this." Peri stated, cautiously walked closer to Erin.
"Don't!" Erin shouted before lowering her voice,"Don't come any closer..."
Peri stopped, staying on the spot, "I know that your emotions are all over the place right now, you can come back from the cliff and we can both talk about it."
"I don't want to talk anymore!" Erin yelled,"I'm past that point, I just want to leave..."
"How do you think everyone will feel? You know how much they love you.. They'd be devastated." Peri tried to get through to her.
Erin turned to Peri and smiled, holding her arms out as if she wanted Peri to come and hug her. Peri thought she did it, so she took a few steps forward to Erin. As she did this, Erin stepped back and off the cliff.
"No!" Peri yelled and ran to the edge of the cliff.
Peri gulped, it was a long fall, but she couldn't leave the others without a father and Eleanor without a fiancé. Peri hesiated before she opened her own wings.
"You have to.." She whispered to herself while she ran off the cliff.
Peri didn't really expect it but she flew. She flew down to the clearing but she was too late. Erin had hit the ground and was bleeding out as they spoke.
"No, no, no, no." Peri shook her head once she landed.
She took her phone out and called Eleanor, putting the phone on speaker while she placed it on the ground. Then, she put her hands over where Erin was bleeding out from.
"Um, hello?" Eleanor yawned,"Who's this?"
"It's Peri, Kaseys girlfriend. El, Erin jumped off a cliff." Peri explained quickly.
"She what?!" Eleanor screamed.
"I'll explain once you get here! We're at the bottom of the cliff at the picnic spot! You need to call an ambulance." Peri was struggling to keep Erin alive at this point.
Eleanor hung up, clearly in shock as Peri desperately tried to keep Erin breathing.
"I'm not going to let you die." Peri muttered to Erin while she continued to stop the bleeding and waited for Eleanor.
"Kasey... Chose a... Good one." Erin joked, chuckling slightly.
"Kasey still loves you, you have to know that." Peri looked down at Erin, "Save your breath."
Erin nodded, curling up slightly. That just made the blood come out faster.
"Try going back to the position you were just in, please." Peri pleaded with her.
Erin readjusted her position just as Eleanor arrived, definitely shaken.
"Did you call the ambulance?" Peri asked, she was panicking.
Eleanor nodded before running over to her, possibly dying, fiancé.
"I'm trying my best to keep as much blood as I can but I don't know if it's working." Peri looked at Eleanor.
"Apply pressure to wherever you can. That might help." Eleanor stated, holding Erin's hand.
Peri nodded while she continued to apply pressure, her hands were covered in blood. It looked like she had killed someone. Eleanor didn't understand. Why didn't Erin just talk to her? Did she not trust her? Had she fallen out of love? Eleanor hadn't even noticed that she was crying until Erin began wiping her tears away. Eleanor chuckled through her tears and squeezed Erin's hand. She just wished she had noticed how Erin felt.
"Hey l-look... The wee-woos here..." Erin joked, pointing at the ambulance.
"Yeah." Eleanor agreed, "The wee-woos are here."
The paramedics quickly took Erin onto the ambulance, Eleanor and Peri jumping on with her. Then, they drove to the hospital and that's where Peri and Eleanor were left.
"Should I call the others?" Peri asked Eleanor with a small yawn.
"Yeah, just don't call the twins. They weren't allowed to bring phones on that Adventure Week thing." Eleanor said, sitting down in on of the chairs.
Peri nodded and left the waiting room, getting her phone out, calling Kasey.
After a few rings, Kasey answered, "Peri? You said you'd be back hours ago, where are you?"
"The hospital..." Peri replied anxiously, she didn't know how Kasey would react.
"Why? What happened? Are you hurt?" Kasey bombarded her with questions.
"No, not me." Peri stated,"Look around the house and then come back."
Peri could hear Kasey put the phone down and walk away.
After a minute or so, Kasey came back and asked, "What happened to my dad?"
Eleanor had left a note on their room door saying that Erin had gotten herself hurt.
"Let's just say emotions meets a cliff face." Peri answered crypticly.
Kasey nodded slowly, "Is she okay?"
"Don't know but she should be." Peri stated,"I need to call the others. Bye babe."
"Bye..." Kasey sighed and hung up, this was her fault.
Peri then scrolled down to the next number. Kellie. Good thing Kellie and Katie were together, Peri pressed the screen and put the phone to her ear.
The phone rang a few times before it was picked up but it wasn't Kellie who answered, It was a boy,"Um... Kellie's making out with her boyfriend currently, who's this so I can tell her."
"My names Peri. I need you to pass a message onto her and Katie as soon as possible." Peri sighed.
"Alright." The boy responded, Peri could make out what was being shouted on the other line,"Kellie! Stop making out with my brother! There's an urgent message for you!"
"Who from?" Peri could hear Kellie ask.
"Some girl named Peri!" The boy shouted back.
"Give Katie the phone, it's her friend." Kellie told him.
"Well, why was she calling you?" He questioned as Katie walked into the room.
"Who's calling?" Katie asked him.
"Some chick named Peri, Kellie said she's your friend." The boy told Katie.
"Yeah, gimme." Katie stated, taking the phone and speaking,"Hey, what's up?"
"Katie, your dad is in hospital." Peri told her.
For a solid minute, Katie was silent.
"Katie are you-" Peri was cut off.
"How?" Was Katie's shaky response.
"..She was at a cliff and slipped." Peri couldn't bring herself to tell Katie the full truth.
All Peri could her was Katie slowly breaking down into tears.
"Are you ok?" The boy asked, taking the phone off of her and asking Peri,"What's wrong?"
"Her dad got into an accident, but she should be fine. What I suggest, is that her and Kellie go back to their house." Peri suggested.
"Got it." The boy answered, hanging up.
Peri put the phone back in her pocket before going back to the hospital room, "I told them."
Eleanor nodded, anxiously looking at the clock on the wall.
"I'm sure she'll be fine." Peri assured Eleanor while she sat down.
"I know she will but... They announced something on the news earlier." Eleanor admitted, her hair fading into a deep purple.
Peri glanced at Eleanor, "What?"
"About hybrids like us... Apparently they're dangerous so... We have to move." Eleanor said slowly, not wanting it to be true.
"What?" Peri turned to face Eleanor, "That's not true, you guys aren't dangerous. Sure, you have your moments but that doesn't make you dangerous."
"We know..." Eleanor whispered, her hair now turning blue.
"I'm so sorry. Is there anything I can do to help?" Peri asked.
"All I could ever ask is that you'll be there for Kasey." Eleanor told her, wiping a few stray tears.
Peri nodded slowly, "Will you tell her?" She gestured to a sleeping Erin on the hospital bed.
"I will..." Eleanor said, looking down at her fiancé.
"Where will you guys be moving to?" Peri asked.
"I have no idea, I know Erin will end up thinking of something." Eleanor joked.
"She probably will." Peri nodded while she leant her arm against the arm rest and put her head on her hand.
"You should get some rest." Eleanor told her as a crash came from behind them.
Eleanor and Peri turned their heads and looked behind them. It was Katie, who had crashed through the door, Kellie standing behind her.
"Katie, Kellie?" Peri stood up and walked over to them.
"Who else?" Kellie asked, picking Katie off the floor,"She wanted to be a battering ram. So I let her."
"Is she okay? Can we see her?" Katie asked while she got out of Kellie's arms.
Peri stepped out of the way to show Erin sleeping on the hospital bed.
"Where's Kasey? She should be here aswell." Katie said as she walked over to the side of the bed.
Peri shrugged as the door was kicked in, hitting Kellie in the back of the head.
"Ow!" Kellie held her head.
"Oops, sorry." There they were. The family hadn't exactly forgiven Kasey yet so she was hesitant about being there.
Everyone stood around awkwardly, they didn't know what to say.
"I'm sorry, I just wanted to come see how she is.. I guess I'll leave now that I've seen her." Kasey glanced at Erin on the bed before she walked back to the door.
"Wait!" Katie rushed over and grabbed Kasey's wrist, pausing for a second,"Stay..."
"Are you sure? Because I can leave.." Kasey looked back at her younger sibling.
Katie just hugged Kasey, she didn't like being mad at her. Even if they hate to admit it, those two needed each other. Kasey hesitated at the sudden action before she hugged Katie back tightly.
"Gimme that fiver!" Kellie demanded, having won the bet made between her and her sister.
Katie rolled her eyes and took out a fiver, handing it to Kellie.
"You guys made a bet?" Kasey asked.
"Yep, who could stay mad the longest." Kellie explained, walking over to both of them."
Kasey nodded before she asked, "Are you still mad?"
"Not really..." Kellie stated, crossing her arms,"It's really hard to stay mad... Sometimes."
"So.. Can I get a hug?" Kasey asked being hopeful.
Kellie let out a chuckle before hugging her sister.
"Thank you." Kasey hummed and hugged Kellie back.
"Your welcome." Kellie replied, it was good to be a family again.
"I... Cut ties with that couple earlier on." Kasey told them while she pulled away.
"And... I can breathe again!" Katie added, falling out of the hug that she was sandwiched in.
