After we landed back near the shrine, Aspen immediately carried a crying Varya to her room, and Ryan asked me to come to his chamber, where he said I should sleep for the night as the recent events were a bit too horrifying.
'I'm coming, I have to talk to Matilda.' And I was left all alone near the shrine. Matilda had officially given me the permission to possess the stone, which itched at every one's back of the mind because I seemed like an outsider. I held it tight and closed my eyes, I was not sure what I was expecting this time but the truth was, I wasn't done with the story. I felt a tight grip on my left arm as I slipped into void.
Everyone gathered in the Castle of the Fallen Queen, to celebrate the great marriage. There were tables and tables of food laid out and the violin played, women and men in their finest of clothes roamed about.
It was then I realized the place looks so much like Pentatox, during Cecila's wedding. Couples lined up to dance with their partners, and then the Fallen Queen came with Zachariah.
'We shall chain dance tonight.' Marvella declared. I grunted in confusion as I saw Matsimella near me. He mouthed a 'You won't get away with this.' I kept silent.
And the dance began. After ten minutes of dancing with their original partners, the ladies got circulated to their left. I remembered this happened at Cecila's wedding too, and I and Ryan hadn't participated. I also completely dismissed Mat's presence. His attitude towards me was bitter, and I had no room in my life for more bitterness. The Fallen Queen also stood aside, so did Zachariah. After some time, I literally caught the Fallen Queen gazing Veer, and he stared back.
Then she swayed her hands and Zachariah went off dancing with Natha, while Veer walked towards her. They locked eyes.
'I'm getting married. This is my wedding.' She said sharply.
'And I am your guest. How are you?'
'We're not supposed to talk.'
'You spent two weeks with me in the Islands and spoke with me every minute. And now you say we can't talk. Not done.' He raised his chin. 'You're the Queen dear, no one questions your choice.'
'Oh I remember the times we spent, but that was a different plot entirely.'
'Then why use such strong magic to manipulate Mister Zachariah, huh?'
'I don't explain my actions.'
'I understand them.'
'Let's dance.'
Veer grabbed her hand and they started moving swiftly. This might sound cliche, but I heard electricity zapping through both their bodies and their eyes glow while they danced salsa.
'You're accepting my honor.' The Fallen Queen murmured.
'Mhm.' Veer muttered back.
I could relate the condition extremely well with something I had recently experienced.
