01 x 01: Star Struck Knights
It was finally happening. It actually was happening. If this was a dream, she hoped no one would wake her up anytime soon, or ever. Today was the day Artemis actually got to officially join THE Fallen Knights as a touring member. Now all she had to do was take a deep breath and remember not to faint over her idols. After all, this wouldn't have been the first time she had seen them -granted, it was in a concert- and she had had contact with them all throughout the process that had gotten her selected. Besides, the L.A born musician had seen tons of stars growing up where she did, so why would she even be nervous?
"This has totally not been your lifegoal for the past few years. You're a professional now, keep it cool." She muttered to herself before biting her lip and reaching her hand to the door. Whether fortunately or unfortunately though, before the girl even had a chance to consider backing out, the door swung open, revealing a tall blond sporting a tank top and the hugest smile Artemis had ever expected to see.
"And you must be the new keyboardist, Artemis, right? Well then come on in, the gang's been anxious to meet you. Name's Andy by the way." He gave her a wink, before ushering her inside.
"Uhm yeah hi I'm Artemis, which, you already knew since you just said it.." She then facepalmed, to which Andy laughed good naturedly. 'Smooth, Arty. Real smooth,' she thought to herself. "I am so sorry, was that weird? I'm just really nervous and I never thought I'd be here face-to-face with you, much less working with you, and wow you're tall and - I'm going to shut up now."
Luckily, Andy didn't seem to mind at all how much of a mess she was already making of herself, only chuckling with a quiet 'cute' before pulling her towards the main living area where the rest of the band were sprawled between guitars and computers and paper, no doubt working on their next project. "Guys, I would like you all to officially meet our new touring keyboardist, Artemis!"
The girl in question, no longer trusting her own mouth to not let out something utterly stupid, merely waved at them from behind Andy, letting out a small high pitched "hi."
"We've met before, at the audition interview, remember?" Phoenix, the fiery headed singer got up with a casual smile, walking up to them and offering Artemis her hand. "Welcome to the Fallen Knights."
Artemis stared at her outstretched hands, before snapping out of her thoughts and nodding with a smile. "Right of course, most stressful day of my life, how can I forget?" She replied sheepishly before shaking hands.
"Well if you were stressed, we couldn't tell at all. That was amazing, especially the way you handled yourself, we were definitely impressed. It's like you were completely inside the keyboard itself, the way you were immersed." Jayden praised as he approached next.
"Like you were possessed by the music itself, from what I heard." The last member, a rather tall and imposing figure, made his presence known, giving her a salute from his perch on the couch.
"Like I was possessed by the keyboard, huh" Artemis swallowed a bit at that, taking a deep breath to calm down her nerves, which, for once, weren't from being star struck. She knew they were joking, but the phrasing did send a shiver down her spine. Nevertheless, she smiled, thanking them for taking her in, even if it was just for the tour.
"Well then!" Andy interrupted, clasping his hands. "I'm sure we'll have a lot of time to get to know each other later, but there's a very specific reason we called you in a little earlier than when we leave on tour, if you're up for your first task."
"Andy, don't you think it's a bit early for this? She just got here, let her rest." Jayden chided with a shake of his head.
"I know, I know, but the matter at hand can't wait, and besides, consider it a little initiation, a way of us getting to know her better. " Andy waved his friend off, before turning back to Artemis with an unsettling grin. "Ready to know what we want you to do?"
Artemis tilted her head in confusion. Initiation? Was it like some sort of cult initiation like she'd seen in movies? Or maybe they were going to throw water or glue and chicken feathers at her to welcome her? Nevertheless, she nodded her head slowly. "Okay, I'm ready" She then closed her eyes out of instinct, preparing for the worst. But that never came. In fact, nothing did, except for of a chuckle. She then slowly opened her eyes, only to see Phoenix and Andy with amused smiles on their faces.
"Let me guess, you thought I was going to pour something on you, didn't you? Aw man, the look on your face" He laughed, before getting elbowed in the side by the fiery red head beside him.
"Wait, so, you're not going to throw chicken feathers or spider webs or something at me?"
Duke snorted. "No. We're not all lunatics like Blondie over here." He motioned Andy who only raised his hands in a surrender motion.
"Actually, we're working on our new song, and there's a place we wanted to check out where we wanted to possibly shoot the video in, while we're still in L.A." Jayden explained. "And since we're four people, we're kind of at a tie, so we were hoping you can give us your opinion, since you know your city so well?"
Artemis couldn't believe it. They wanted her opinion on one of their music videos? They actually wanted her help? Of course, that meant she couldn't mess this up either, but still. They had given her such an important task already. She couldn't help but grin like a dork at the thought.
"Earth to Artemis, come in, Arty." Andy waved a hand to her face, considering the girl had zoned out for a few seconds.
The girl shook her head. "Sorry, and yes of course, I would be honoured to help out. So uhm, where is the place you had in mind, and when do you guys plan on going?"
"Glad to see you so enthusiastic." Phoenix grinned, putting her hands on her hips. "And I hope you brought an extra set of clothes, because you're coming to a party tonight."
