Chapter 8
Lachlan
And we were off, going who knows where. We didn't know how long we'd be traveling. How much we needed to walk. Knowing I had the power to get where ever we were going in a second, I found it hard to not walk ahead. Okay... I mean run. We had been traveling for a good hour, walking under the late spring sun. I felt energized enough to walk for hours, but that was just me.
"Lachlan, stop going ahead! We need to stay together!" Vik called from behind me, and I realized I was getting ahead again. "Sorry, Vik." If it was anyone else, I would have given them a reason why I should go in front, but I trusted Vik. I don't know why...
I let myself fall back some, before walking again, this time making sure not to go ahead. I looked forwards to the seemingly neverending trees. I honestly just wanted to be there already, and I could tell the others were having similar thoughts. But yet, like this part of the story, things seemed to drag on. "Guys can I pleeeease scout ahead?" I whined. "Lachlan can you pleeeease stop asking....Okay, fine."
I instatly took off into the bushes, only to get hit in the face with a branch and trip over a stupid root. I skidded on the ground and closed my eyes in pain, and I groaned. I guess I had it coming. I stood up, and observed my surroundings. The forest around me seemed dark and depressing. It was unnaturally dark, and most of the trees hardly had any leaves.
I shuddered, and started a brisk walk, only to slow down, remembering the last time I tried to go fast. [Gotta Go Fast!] I heard twigs and leaves crunch as I walked, and they seemed abnormally loud... there was something about this place. I kept walking, though. But I swear I could feel something's presence, and it made my hair stand on end. But I kept walking. The place only seemed to get darker as I ventured deeper into the strange place. I dared to reach my hand out and touch some leaves as I past by an old willow. The quiet seemed to be everywhere. I could hear my breathing it was so quiet. And there was no escape from it. A twig snapped loudly beneath my feet, shaking me from my thoughts about the place. I looked up and around. Nothing of interest. Well, I was curious about practicly every creepy thing in this forest. Oh, wait. There's practicly nothing. But's it's still teriffying as hell...
I curved to the side to avoid some vines, only to see that up ahead, there were more. In fact, they were covering the whole path, hanging from some stone that seemed to be craked with age. The vines seemed to cover the entire thing. "Damn." I whispered, pushing the greenery aside as I entered to who knows where...
As I entered, I was blinded by sunlight. It stung my eyes for a second, and I blinked twice, getting used to the sudden light. I saw what looked like a temple before me, and it was made of a smooth stone, though in some places it was cracked and mossy. I decided I should go back and tell them about this instead of exploring by myself. But yet, that was how Rob discovered his power...
I shook myhead and turned around, deciding to tell the others what I saw. As soon as I entered the forest, darkness covered my vision yet again. I found myself even more desperate to get back to the others as I walked through the woodland, wondering what was up with this part of the forest yet again. I looked to my left, then right, making sure nothing was watching. I still felt like I was being watched.
I sighed, then felt myself falling again. 'Dammit!" I exclaimed, realizing I tripped over a root. AGAIN. I brushed the dirt and leaves off as I stood back up, and I checked behind my back. I swear I saw two glowing white eyes. They were looking directly at me. I blinked and they were gone. 'Yup, I'm going insane.' I thought.

"Guys! I found something you all should see- it's really wierd."I told them, coming out of the underbrush into the clearing. What'd you find, Lachy?" Vik asked me. "I-I found this weird temple thing, you guys should really see it.' I explained really fast. "Woa, Lachlan. Slow down. Did it look dangerous?" Rob asked from his place, sitting on a log in the back of the clearing. "Noooo... nothing that I saw anyways." "I say we go check it out." Mitch declared. Jerome frowned. "But Mitch, we just got here." Mitch just laughed. "Jerome, we've been here for an hour! Well, in Mitch Time." I shook my head. "Nah, more like thirty minuets."
"Lachlan," Vik started. 'One does not simply argue with Mitch Time." Preston stood from his place by Rob. "Well, what are we waiting for, Plebs?!" he exclaimed. "Wait, were going now?" Vik asked. Mitch looked at the noon sky (not directly at the sun, why would he do that?). "If we didn't, wouldn't we just be waisting daylight?" He asked. Rob nodded. "I agree with Mitch. We should do it." Vik frowned. "I literally just got comfortable." I leaned against a tree trunk to my right, then spoke for the first time in a while. "But Viiiiikkk..." "Fine." He stood up, then stretched. "Lezzgo?" Jerome asked. Mitch then ran off into the woods, yelling "Lezzzzgooooooooo!" I rolled my eyes, before getting off the tree.
"That's the wrong way, Mitch!" I called. I recall hearing a faint "Oh". I looked at the group, and motioned for them to follow."Come on." I instructed. I turned around and began to walk, relying on my memory to guide me. I turned around to make sure they were all following any they were. I lead them down the dark path that I had only traveled down twice before. I was lead only by my memory, so it was a challenge. But yet, it wasn't a hard path to remember. I was more concerned about tripping again, or worse, seeing those creepy white eyes again. But, I also didn't want us lost. As a result, I put more time into retracing my footsteps than anything else. I could hear the others talking casually, about what I'm not sure.
Before I knew it, I was already at the place with the vines, which I knew led inside the large clearing. I pushed the vines aside, revealing the bright sunlight. I stepped inside, making sure the others ere still following. It seemed like an entirely different world in there, being so different from the darkness of the forest. Though, Jerome did look sad to leave the trees behind. "So this is what I found." I explained. "It looks like a temple, so I'm going with that." I heard footsteps beside me, and I turned to see who it was. Vik was observing the strange structure. "It looks like some sort of shrine. " he pointed out. "True."
Jerome leaned on the wall, but it crumbled under his weight. He staggered at first, but then caught himself. He straitened himself up, then looked around, before actingly nothing happened. "I broke it."
" So, should we go inside?" I asked. Mitch nodded. "Yeah, but where's the entrance?" he asked. "Uh... I didn't think this far." I replied. Preston facepalmed. "Well, let's find it!" Vik cheered. "Guys, just be careful. We don't know what's in there. And remember, we have encountered some pretty weird stuff." I said.
