Chapter twelve: Time to sleep, hero!

Authors note: There is gonna be gore and violence towards the end of the chapter. Just a little warning!

***

I was standing in the Flame room in the Fire Scantuary and rose the Goddesses' sword skyward in the air. It glowed up and I striked a beam towards the floating 'Triforce' (as Fi has called it) symbol which stood in front of the flame. Like usual, the Triforce spung around, and made a noise. It turned to its usual position after that.

Usually whenever I awaken or collect something of value like this, Fi would appear from my sword and translate the words of the Goddesses to me and tell me where I should head to next, but for some reason, this time she never did that. Oddly enough, I didn't even sense her presence in the sword. Everything still happened like usual; a piece of the flame shot out and hit and strengthened my sword, but something was off: it was because Fi never showed up. I stood around and waited to see if she would appear, but nothing happened unfortunately. "...I assume you're done now, correct?" I heard that damn demon call out to me. Great. Now he's getting impatient.

But I wonder....

What did happen to Fi? Since I was away from my sword for a few days, did she assume I died and left the sword? Can sword spirits even do that? Augh...! Fi, why did you leave?!

I turned around and nodded to Ghirahim. I saw him smirk. "Good." He called out to me and snapped his fingers...

Well, there goes my last minute plans.

..And we teleported back.

***

I held my sore shoulder as I watched Ghirahim teleport away with my sword in his hand. "N-No..." I muttered out softly, and yelled out after. "NO!" A few tears rolled down my cheeks. That's it. I thought. Everything's over. I've truly lost-No. I can't be so pessimistic! I will find a new weapon and get out of here! I have to do it for Zelda and Groose!

But before I did anything, I ran into the washroom to find something to cover my shoulder wound up. I searched the drawers for something - anything to cover the wound up. Some gauze wrap or bandages would be nice..

Aha!

The birch coloured drawer was filled with mostly toiletry junk and simple first aid. Luckily I found some rubbing alcohol and a large bandaid type thing. I cleaned up the wound with the rubbing alcohol and patched it up. I fixed my shirt and went out of the bathroom. Next is finding a way out of here. Hopefully he took those annoying bokoblins when he teleported away! I walked to the door and opened it.

Well, tried to open it, at least. The thing wouldn't budge! "I'm locked in here?!" That blasted demon must have somehow locked me in here. Hm... But I should be able to break it! Luckily over my travels I have gained quite a bit of muscle, and I had gotten quite strong. I hope I would be able to break through the door though, since I have barely eaten. Actually... I think the only food I've had here was that mystery meat that Ghirahim gave me when I first arrived. He said it could be human meat, but I don't know for sure. I rolled my fist up and took a deep breath.

With a loud hyah! I punched the door with all my might and hoped to break the lock or something. The door rattled, but it didn't break. "No.." I whispered out as I banged on the door some more. It was supposed to break open! I'm supposed to break out of here and save Zelda and Groose and kill Ghirahim and Demise! I body checked and kicked the door until it's lock finally gave out. Well... It turns out it didn't even have one. He must have locked me in here with a spell or something like that, because there was no lock on the door.

I didn't think much else of it and ran (hopefully) towards an exit. I didn't really know where I was running exactly, since all the walls of this place looked similar, so I just followed my gut. And boy, was my gut hungry! With that in mind, I ended up at the kitchen. The kitchen was quite large, actually. There was a large counter in the middle of the stone room, and it had many nice looking kitchen tools and china on it. I eyed a large kitchen knife.

Behind the counter was a large stone oven with a lit fire. On one of the walls was a pantry door and crates and boxes were leaning on the walls. On the other side of the room were large double doors to what I can only imagine the dining room. I smelled the air of the room and it caused my stomach to growl even more. "I need food.." I whispered out. I looked around the kitchen once more, and then behind me to make sure nobody was around. It was unusually quiet, but I took this as an opportunity to raid that bastard's kitchen for food and a weapon. I dashed quietly towards the pantry door and opened it as quiet as I can. The door made a slow and loud creaking noise and I prayed to Hylia that I wasn't heard. Inside the pantry was all kinds of dried foods, cans and even fresh fruit and vegetables! I grabbed a blood-red juicy apple and practically inhaled the thing. And this here, is heaven. Eating and sleeping are basically my favourite things to do. Once I finished the first apple, my hand reached for a second. And a third..

After I finished my third apple, my hand was ready to grab the forth, but I forced myself against it. No, I mustn't get distracted! I let out a sigh and pulled my hand away. I shut the door and turned back towards the room. Next, is a weapon. And that kitchen knife I saw earlier looks perfect. I dashed to the counter in the middle of the room, and picked up the large knife. I examined it closely. Oh, it's a big one. And sharp too. It will make a good weapon against Ghirahim or his minions.

I began to feel slightly better now that I found myself a simple weapon. Now I need to get out of here! I ran to the door of the hallway and looked around both ways to see if anyone was around. Nobody was there, and I didn't hear anything too. I continued to walk around this labyrinth of his and ended up at some large doors in a foyer. There wasn't much in the foyer, just some expensive looking chairs and tables, and some paintings on the walls. I looked at the doors. Once I open them, I am home free. I just need to run to the sacred grounds. The biggest problem now is trying to see where I am. I imagine I am somewhere in the deep woods of the Faron Region.

Enough stalling. I went closer to the doors and put my hand on the handle and was ready to push them, but I felt painful shocks run through my body. My body twitched and I screamed out in pain then quickly pulled my hand away. I kneeled down and breathed heavily from pain. "Wh.." I opened my mouth to try to say something, but I couldn't. What was that?! I looked at my hand where I grabbed the door and saw there were burns on it now. There must be some kind of barrier or force surrounding this place. I can't leave! I'll get fried to bits if I touch the door for too long!

What to do..

I kneeled down for a minute or two longer until the pain passed. When it became bearable, I slowly raised my body up and let a sigh out. Maybe I will go back to my room to think of a new plan? I turned back the way I came and began to slowly make my way back. I had to lean against a wall because I was starting to feel light headed from that shock.

I didn't seem to notice a low earthquake.

I slowly made way back to my room and opened the door back open with my free hand. I went in and closed the door after me. I stumbled over to the bed and sat on the edge of it, letting out a large sigh as I hung my head low. The dizziness was still there, but it was slowly getting better thankfully. Just... Another few minutes.

I fell back on the bed and looked up at the sword. If.. I were to see Ghirahim again, I don't think this would be able to kill him. It might buy me though time to escape and save everyone. Yes...There is still hope. I slowly closed my eyes and opened them again. I clung onto that tiny bit of hope for the life of me. My eyes suddenly focused onto the sky behind the knife.

"Huh..? Wha.." I whispered and my voice trailed off after that.

It's afternoon.. right? Isn't the sky supposed to be bright and sunny out? Instead of that, it has turned into a mixture of dark reds, purples, and oranges. The room was now only illuminated by a candle next to my bed. With the room this dim, the quietness and darkness made everything so much more unsettling. I leaned my body up to a sitting position.

This isn't normal!

I started to think of many possibilities of what could have happened. Did Zelda die? Is Demise resurrected? Whatever happened, isn't good at all! I stood myself up and walked over to the window to get a better look.

Everything had a dim of red on it, which made it look like everything was on fire, almost like I had been transported to Hell! This is just like that dream I had last night!

"The view is lovely, isn't it?"

A voice broke me out of my thoughts and I violently twitched. Luckily I didn't jump in fear, but I was close to! My grip on the knife tightened and I slowly turned to the voice.

Just barely in the shadows, was Ghirahin standing. He was covered in someone's blood, and I was absolutely terrified who's it was. "Who's blood is that..?" I quietly muttered to myself. He must of heard though, because I could see a manic grin appearing on his face. The Demon Lord stepped forward, his whole body now in the dim light, "Oh? Who's, I wonder..." The demon chuckled as he walked next to me at the window and looked out of it to the red sky and blowing leaves of the trees, "It's the hideous redhead's and your little Sky Maiden's."

My eyes widened as I processed the information. He..He killed Groose and sacrificed Zelda..? I gritted my teeth to keep a scream in and quickly slashed the knife at the side of Ghirahim's arm. It cut through his arm, just above the elbow, all the way down to his wrist. His glove got cut as well.

The wind outside of the window picked up, and everything got a darker red.

Ghirahim stepped back and held his arm in shock. It seems he didn't see my attack coming. "I-I'll..." I let out an ear piercing scream, "I'll kill you for this! No... I'll slowly suck the life out of you!" I manically swung the knife at him again and he dodged out of the way. Tears began to flow out of my eyes. "Zelda.." I muttered.

I loved you. I should have said that before this mess started.

Ghirahim grunted and summoned his own sword. "Oh, stop being so dramatic! I just killed them, that's all! Your whining is annoying as hell!" I seemed to be in my own little world, as I was unresponsive to him. My new goal was to beat the hell out of this demon and make him suffer. The blades of our weapons clashed together, and I was moving quite quickly while Ghirahim was just barely defending himself. I tried to slash at him again, but he somehow slapped me hard on the cheek. I flinched in pain and he managed to grab me by the throat tightly. "So you've finally lost it, huh?" He muttered to me as I choked for air. My eyes met his grey eyes and my lips tried to curl into a smirk.

Instead of accepting my fate, I gave him a good hard kick in the groin which caused him to shriek and bend down. "Ow - You bastard!" He screamed out. "Oh, how the tables have turned~" I muttered out to him with a sadistic grin on my face before kicking Ghirahim in the head as hard as I can. I kicked him hard enough to fall on the ground and not move, but not hard enough to knock him unconscious. My grip on the knife tightened and for a second I hesitated before making my move.

                       Just for a second~

I got on top of him and straddled him so that he wouldn't be able to get up and I let myself go wild. I stabbed him with the knife in his chest. I made sure not to get him in the heart. Ghirahim screamed out in pain and I seemed to laugh from it. "This is what you get! You ruined everything!" I dug the knife in him again. I pulled the knife out and stabbed him in the chest again.

And again, and again, and again, and again. And again, and again. Soon the room was filled with Ghirahim's anguished screams and a mixture of my own laughter and crying. To be honest, I was getting scared of myself. I guess this hero stuff and dying friends was too much for me to handle, huh? "L-Link.." I heard a voice weakly call out and it brought me back to my senses.

"Zelda?" I thought I heard her lovely voice, but it turns out it was just Ghirahim begging for forgiveness. I broke out of my daze and pulled the knife out of him again. "What?" I practically growled like a wild animal. "I appolog-"

Are you fucking kidding me? This fueled my revenge even more.

"SORRY ISN'T GOING TO CUT IT!" I yelled as loud as I could and raised the knife one last time to deliver the final blow. Before I thought the knife wouldn't be able to kill him since I thought I would need an item with the power to destroy darkness or something like that (the Goddess Sword, for example), but I will prove that theory wrong! I aimed right for his heart and put the sword right into it with all my might! "If you were sorry, you shouldn't have started this mess.." I whispered as a few more tears fell down my face.

Ghirahim screamed loudly in pain one last time before he stopped moving. I huffed loudly. It's done; everything's over. For some reason I laughed out loud. I didn't even bother to get off of him. It was just like everything went away and all my problems were solved. Well, not exactly. Zelda and Groose are still dead and Demise is running amuck and killing everything..

"Heheheh..." I tried to calm myself down and finally I stood up. I rubbed my eyes and walked back to the window. Everything was now on fire outside or already burnt to a crisp. All life was dying on the surface. I got a glimpses of my reflection in the mirror. Oh wow, I looked awful. The whole front side of my body and face was covered in Ghirahim's blood.

I suddenly noticed something at the corner of my eye, which was another reflection behind me. I gasped and quickly turned around to see this large orange haired demon behind me. He was wearing armour and his dark skinned face had a frown on it. Strangely, he wasn't holding any weapon.

This must be Demise..

Demise glanced over to Ghirahim, then back to me. "I imagine you were the one who did that, weren't you?" I raised my knife. He let out a low chuckle, "You must have gone mad, because there is no weapon in your hands, boy." I slowly looked down to my hands and realised I wasn't actually holding the knife anymore. Shit! I looked over to Ghirahim's body and saw it sticking out from him. I looked back at Demise then looked back at Ghirahim. I suddenly dashed towards Ghirahim's body. If I can kill a demon sword with a kitchen knife, I can definitely kill the demom with a kitchen knife!

Before I could reach the deceased Demon Lord, he suddenly disappeared with the knife still in him. I screamed out in frustration. "What?!"

Demise's low and chilling chuckle filled the dark room again. "You did quite a number of him with such a pathetic weapon." I turned around to see Demise holding a large black sword. The sword was absolutely breathtaking looking, but it was full of cracks. "But you did not kill him." Demise continued.

I placed my hands on the side of my head and screamed loudly. "No! This can't be real!"

Demise walked closer to me.

"No, I'm dreaming..! I must be dreaming! None of this happened we're all happy again.." I couched down and tears fell down my face again. "P-Please..."

Demise raised his sword..

..And I felt a weird pain cut through my waist.

"H..Huh...?" I muttered out as I fell down to the ground. Before my vision faded out, I saw my lower half of my body hit the ground next to me.

"You're a pathetic excuse of a hero. Goodbye."

Those were the last words I heard before my vision and mind faded out.

Authors note: Woah, the final chapter is next! And last chapter, didn't I say I would make the finale much longer? It was about 3100 words, which is my record!
Also, apologies if there wasn't a lot GhiraLink in this series. ¯\_()_/¯ The sequel will have much more cute and fluffy GhiraLink, I can promise you that. And yes, there is a sequel coming. I mean, how will Demise be defeated?
