Part 4

Isabelle was waiting for Alec to come down for breakfast and she even had a tray set aside for him, but as she waited, there is no signs of her brother anywhere. She looked around and saw Jace just came out from their parents office heading back to the dining area.

She waited for him to sat down before she began interrogating him. "Where have you been?" She asked. Jace sighed rubbing his head together with a long sighed.

"Mum and dad are making me the next head of institute." He said before he took the cup and sipped the orange juice. "Are you fucking with me right now? What about Alec?" She asked concerned but she fished out her phone out from her pocket trying to reach Alec, but to her luck, his phone is off.

"I can't find Alec anywhere. Izzy I'm scared. Mum and dad doesn't know what happened last night." Jace mentioned. Isabelle had tried to call Magnus but no answer either. "We can't look for him now, we have training." Izzy said and Jace nodded. "After training, we sneaked out." Isabelle nodded agreeing with the plan.

They were both interrupted when their table were smacked by none other their annoying little brother. Although he is only six but his mind is like the sixty. He tried to climb on the stool with hardship with no help from Jace nor Isabelle.

"Guys, where's Alec? I can't find him." He said chewing on his pancake with his one hand and the other holding on to his iPad.

"Beat it loser, Alec's busy." Jace said which then earned him a groaned. "You always says that! You're lying! I want Alec!" He throw the pancake on top of Jace's head and he was stunned caught by surprise. He wiped his head that filled with syrup and sworn seeing red at his brother.

"You are so dead!" He tried to charge at his little brother but was stopped by Isabelle instead. "Stop! Both of you! Let's trained Jace." She pulled Jace together and Max tried to follow them but they were too fast and Max was barely catching up to them.

Max was about to chase them when he heard his mother called him instead. "Maxie! Come up." She called and he obliged finding his siblings are gone in the crowd.

"I want Alec!" He called and they are literally ignoring his request. "Alec's busy." She answered simply but he can see his mother's eyes scanning the room trying to find someone and when she couldn't find them, he saw she sighed in regret.

He maybe small but he knew what guilt look means, and this time, he could see it clearly on his mother's face. He wonder if it had anything to do about his big brother.

Alec was sitting on the roof staring at the blue sky above him. It was a perfectly good day and he wonder if he was actually cursed or just bad luck. His parents words replayed over and over again inside his head which he tried to ignore them repeatedly.

He looked up staring at the great big sky finding few clouds with shapes and sizes before he spoke to himself, "Why I'm here anyway?" He sighed shutting his eyes tight letting a silent tear fell on his cheek.

"Am I that weak to be in this world?" He asked the angel again. "Why didn't you just end it?" He silently asked knowing there's no one would answer his questions.

He heard the door on the roof opened and saw Jace running put from it. His golden eyes scanned the roof for Alec and when he found him by the corner, he ran towards him.

"Alec." He called. Alec turned his gaze towards Jace that struggling to breathe, Alec assumed he might ran from the training room towards the roof instead of using the elevator.

"Why are you running?" He asked innocently. "I uhm- " he paused trying to find a perfectly good word for his reason.

"You think I'm gonna jump won't you?" He asked and he could see Jace scratched his neck looking at the side before he answered.

"I'm sorry Alec but last night-" Jace was interrupted by Alec before he could continue.

"Last night was a mistake! " Alec screamed, he stood from his seats and faces Jace bravely. "I was at my weakest, you were hurt! Izzy was hurt all because of me! So forgive me for trying to ease the pain by inflicting it on myself!" Alec bumped his shoulder against Jace after he tried to fled the area. Not until he heard Jace spoke stopping him from going further.

"Until when?" He asked. "Until when are you going to inflict pain that you felt from others that had been hurting you??" Jace asked. He heard Alec sighed longing but no answers.

"I can't do this anymore Alec. I can't have my parabatai hurting himself like this. You know damn well it affects me too!" Jace raised his voice back at Alec and he knew it was a bad moves to make.

"Then what are you waiting for?" Alec asked him, he raised his eyebrow staring at Alec's face dumbfounded, "What do you mean?" He asked.

"Break the bond." Alec said and Jace swore he felt rage cursing through his heart and he felt like he is bursting in anger.

"After all these years!!??? Is that simply how you wanted to break our bond??? Just over a simple argument?? Is our bond meant nothing to you anymore Alec?" He asked, he sworn he was ready to hit him if he asked another question.

"Why don't you asked yourself that Jace. Is our bond not important for you to say no to mum and dad?" Jace was taken back by Alec's sudden questions. He knew Alec would have a problem with him being his replacement.

"Actually don't bother answering that questions. I don't care anymore. Do what you had to do to make mum and dad happy, I'm done by the way. I'm tired to deal with this anyhow." He said before he walked towards the door again and left Jace all alone on the roof. He knew it was low of him to be mad at Jace for replacing him but truthfully it was better this way, having people around him to be mad rather than having them to worry every single minute.

Alec stormed off the roof and headed to his bedroom instead. He closed the door before he banged his head against it. How stupid can he be for saying stuffs like that to Jace. He loves Jace as his brother more than anything in this world. He hated how his anger got through him before anything else.

He hated being this person especially when he hurt people around him. He stares at his bedroom before he went to his closet grabbing everything he could. He took out his duffle bag and started to stuffed his clothes inside. He was busy focusing on the task in hand not realizing someone else was in the room with him.

"Alec?" The small voice breaks behind him and he winced at the sounds. "Where are you going?" He turned finding Max stood in his room with a book in his hand and he recognized that book pretty well, it was his rune book.

Max always wanted to practice but only with Alec. He saw Alec stuffed his clothes and tears breaks from his eyes. "No! Don't leave me!" He screamed before he pulled the bag out from the bed and it fell on the floor with Alec's clothes all scattered on the floor.

"I had to Maxie. It's for the best." Alec said trying his best to hide his tears too. He placed the clothes back inside the bag and put them on the bed but this time Max took his book and put them into the bag together.

Alec had to stop shoving his stuffs before he looked down at his brother. "What are you doing?" He asked, Max looked up to him and sniffed his tears before he answered, "I'm coming with you." He said.

Alec groaned before he tossed the bag to the side and crouched before his small little brother. "Max listen to me." He said and sighed.

"I am not needed in this place anymore. Mum and dad put Jace incharged. So you have to behave okay. You have to listen to Jace." Alec said while fixing the collar of his brother's shirt. His big round eyes can fool anyone with his innocence but he is actually way smarter than that.

"No! I don't want Jace. I want you! I want you here." He started to hit Alec with his small palm but Alec didn't felt hurt at all, he knew his brother is close to him since he was a baby. Mostly he would deal with his tantrum better than anyone else including his mother, so it explains a lot why they were quite close with each other.

"Max you have to understand, I might not be here all the time so you need to learn to be on your own okay." He stood leaving his brother standing there in tears but he couldn't bear his heart to continue packing so he placed the remaining bag inside his closet and he swore he could see the look on Max's face lightened up.

He didn't say any words but instead he picked his little brother up and cradled him before he let him leaned his face on the crook of his neck. He could hear him sobbed wetting his shirt but he continue hushing him while rocking his body,

"I'm sorry Max, please forgive me." He whispered rubbing circles on his back before Max sobs turned softly to just a cry.

"Promise you won't leave me?" He asked, Alec sighed before he gave in but only to say that he might be leaving anytime soon so Max can't pull this stunt again.

Alec told Max that he had mission but the truth is, he had to get out from the institute otherwise he might had another outbreaks. So he left about few hours ago and the clock had just turn three in the evening. He didn't even had his breakfast this morning after his interruption by his parents.

He walked around the parks in glamor not wanting the mundane to see him in this outfit and asking questions. He had been walking around for couple of hours before he decided to sat at the bench and relieved himself from the tiredness.

He felt a vibration from his pocket and reached for it realizing it was his phone. He saw the screen showed his mother's name and he waited. He doesn't have the strength to answer the call nor to even hear her scolding. He waited for few more seconds before it went to voicemail.

He leaned back against the chair before he noticed his phone rang again. He didn't even bother to look at the screen knowing his mother had called again so he just slides the screen and answered.

"I'm not coming home mum, so you can just asked Jace to do whatever you need to from now on. Don't have to wait for me anymore." He answered noticing his voice breaks in million pieces just as his hearts.

"I'm not gonna ask why are you not coming home but I had to know where the hell are you Alexander?" The soothing voice makes Alec's heart almost breaks and he wished he wanted to cry right then and there.

"Magnus?" He called, trying his best to hide his voice to sound as normal as he could but he can't never lie to him.

"Why didn't you call me?" Magnus asked. Alec didn't know what should he tell Magnus. He hated how he rely on Magnus in every situation cause he is more mature than he is. Every single decision he made were supported by Magnus but sometimes he hated making those decisions.

"Alec?" Magnus voice were heard again calling him through the speaker. He can hear Alec's voice trembling and his sharp intake of breath signs of him breaking into tears.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." He said shaking in words. "Tell me where you are?" Magnus asked and Alec couldn't form full sentences so he answered shortly, "The park."
