Golden Strings

Flynn POV

The water rushes through my ears and seeping into the openings of my body. I crash into the rocks multiple times grazing onto my body.

My face rises above the surface, but the water takes a hold of me. Not letting me escape it's clutches.

... I guess this is how, how I'm going to pay for my sins.

Goodbye life, I don't have anything to miss. And nothing will miss me.

When I think about it, my life was just a nuisance, it held no meaning...

But a golden shimmer, a string hauling me out of the raging river, the immense strength it seemed like it resembled a god's hand. It was wrapped around my wrist and my closed eyes gradually opened.

The reflection and distorted view from under water showed the sun shining bright with a figure in front of it.

I get dragged onto the surface, to look above and see the figure slowly drift away, I reach out with my trembling hand and weakly call to it, "D-don't go."

The figure returns to me and as it approaches me the light shone on her face, the sunset highlighting her features.

Her large emerald eyes, olive complexion, her glimmering golden hair ... her hair were the strings of God.

"Hey," The girl says, "Are you okay?"

I cough out water, and try to regain posture.

"You-" I address her.

"Maybe, you should stop stealing things," She suggests, "Your criminal reputation will lead you into troublesome situations, you could've died from those thugs chasing you before."

"That's okay ..." I respond, with a broken voice. It's okay, because I wouldn't of met you.

"It's not okay! Your life is very valuable !" She exclaims grabbing my collaring and shaking me around.

My eyes widen, I cannot let her go ... she can't leave me.

She gently puts me down and gives me a bright smile, I felt like I finally felt the sun rays. I felt the warmth of life, I wasn't allured by her appearance rather her presence it was powerful.

Thinking that a something god-like laid within her.

"You can't leave me here- they'll find me." I speak out to her, she smiles and closes her eyes nodding.

"I took care of them, so don't worry." She assures me with a radiant grin.

She continues to walk off in the distance, don't go. Don't go.

"Stay!" I call out to her, with my remaining energy, "Don't ... go."

"Sorry," She apologizes, "I have duties and obligation that I cannot abandon."

"Then ...! When you are free of them, come see me!" I suggest then yell, "I am Flynn Rider!"

The girl tilts her head then chuckles, "Okay, I will. My name is Rapunzel."

Rapunzel ... Rapunzel. I don't think I will ever forget that, the name that brought meaning into my own, someone who immediately put me under their spell, how is all that humanly possible ... questions that cannot be answered.

"Goodbye," Rapunzel farewells me, "Eugene."

My eyes alarmed my senses crazed, the questions that cannot be answered can now be answered.

... the only answer that she needs is that she is simply, not human. But that didn't matter, when you are simply allured no barrier could stop me from feeling my attraction towards her.

She continues to walk away from me, I didn't stop her. Rapunzel could've easily lied that she wasn't going to see me again, but I trusted her, and I will hope for her return.

During that gap of separation, I stole everything in an amount of realms, too many. After the time I got possessed, I could see so many more things I couldn't just limit myself to Corona, I need to make money, simply to find Rapunzel.

But the opposite happened Rapunzel found me. She seemed sick of the life she lead, she seemed ... unhappy.

"Hello Eugene," she greeted me, "I'm ... tired."

Rapunzel seemed battered down, I was panicking as she chose the wrong time to see me, I was in the middle of a heist.

I grabbed her cold hand and guided her through the forest, quickly navigating myself through the thick bushes and trees. I didn't know where to bring her, I live nowhere since I travel a lot.

But a clearing in the forest, I see a tall tower, it may be vacant, but that doesn't matter because I need to keep Rapunzel safe.

I turn around to her and I see her shocked expression but then it softens and she says, "I was raised in this place ... with my mother, but she's probably some place else."

I stay silent, lets leave this sentimental moment for her.

Rapunzel smiles, "Let's go inside."

We walk towards the structure and Rapunzel finds a secret entrance through the bricks of the structure and we crawl inside and we see the base of the tower, it seems so large but really dusty.

Rapunzel explores around the place, dusting off the furniture.

"So, why did you turn to me?" I asked, getting a bit full of myself.

She taps her chin and thinks to herself, then she looks to me in joy, "Maybe ... because you offered me an opportunity. I am God's Prophet, and I have been on duty for a long time ... it's routinely. Even though I was set free from this tower, I wouldn't say what I am doing now isn't living."

"God's Prophet?!" I exclaimed, "I knew you had a godly presence!"

Rapunzel giggles.

"... Is that the reason why you feel so empty?" I asked in a more serious tone.

"Yeah," She responds, "Not the actual job, but the requirement of being immortal."

I was stunned, I learnt everything about Rapunzel, she was very open in sharing her past, it seemed like she wanted to talk about her feelings for a long time. But she never had the opportunity to. For some reason, Rapunzel knew that I was a notorious thief, but she didn't mind.

It didn't take long for Rapunzel to be into me ... like I loved her.

However, someone stopped that.

I was treading throughout the woods, hopefully to gather some food for dinner. Rapunzel ordered me to grab some berries and a nice pig to make a delicious meal, as she was sick of eating stale bread.

Maybe ... I should start stealing again, I thought.

Then a force flung me to the tree trunk, sore I look around but I see no one, a black smoke appeared, surrounding me.

An echoing voice started to speak, "This black smoke, is poisonous gas. Move and you will die."

I narrowed my eyes and clenched my teeth, I was scared but also angered.

"What?" I say with fury.

"I want you to go DunBroch for a bit, and spy on The Demon Prince. Also there will be an angel beside him, while you're at it take as much feathers as you want, and perhaps her purity to anger the Prince." This deep voice tells me, amplifying into my ears.

"... Why would I do that?" I ask this mysterious voice.

"Because, if you don't I will be claiming that demon fragment. Without that demon in you, you probably won't be able to see your lover." The voice almost sounds amused, how sick.

I nod my head and agree weakly, "Okay, I will do it."

"Good choice," The voice sounds pleased, "Don't worry ... I will be doing the hard part."

I furrowed my eyebrows, and suddenly the black smoke started to form revealing a pale male.

He was dressed in a black cloak covering his whole body, with a hood shadowing his face. But I can still make out what he looked like, he had red eyes and jet black hair slicked back with a few loose strands flopping over his face.

He gives me a devious smile, a forced one and said, "I just need to borrow your body for a bit."
