Chapter 14: Sick

Third person

Jackson and Paisley ended up staying in a relationship. Jackson didn't want to lose Paisley and she felt the same way about him. When they were apart they were both terribly lonely. It was because they loved each other.

Perhaps things were meant to be after all. Paisley surely thought so. Jackson could hardly ever keep his mind off of her. It was quite clear that they were in love.

But was this allowed? The answer was no. When God banished Jackson to rule over Hell he made rules as part of his punishment: Jackson wouldn't be able to stay on Earth for more than twenty-four hours at a time, he would not be allowed to love, he would not be allowed to feel happiness, he would not be allowed to tell anyone he was Satan, and he would not be allowed to love or be in a romantic relationship with a mortal.

So far Jackson had broken pretty much all of the rules. He didn't really know what would happen, but it didn't sound good. The last thing he wanted was for Paisley to be punished for his wrongdoings. It was his fault they had gotten together and he would never forgive himself if he ended up hurting her.

Paisley was spending the day alone, like usual. Jackson was down in hell, torturing the souls of the dammed. Paisley however, did not feel so well. She thought she might be sick.

Before she knew it she was vommiting uncontrollably, like her body couldn't keep down any food. She wasn't sure why this was happening. Perhaps she ate something she shouldn't have or came into contact with someone who had a stomach bug. She didn't know sure.

The vommiting got so bad that she was at a point to where she was puking nothing but stomach acid and bile. It pained her insides and made her throat sore, but there was nothing she could do about it. How was she going to stop something she didn't know the cause of?

In her mind it was a stomach bug that would pass, but that wasn't the actual cause. She didn't know it yet, but her life was about to get a whole lot more interesting.

Only a few hours after her puking spell, Jackson had been able to come and visit. He didn't bother knocking because now that Paisley knew what he was, he didn't see the need to hide his abilities from her anymore.

When Jackson saw how Paisley looked he became instantly worried. She looked deathly sick and almost like she was dying.

Of course Jackson knew that everyone died eventually, but he didn't want Paisley to die; not yet. He just wasn't ready for her death. If she ended up in Heaven Jackson would be lost, miserable, depressed. She couldn't die yet, not yet. He wasn't going to let her.

What would he do without her? She was the only thing that made him happy. Sure, torturing people for all eternity is fun, but that isn't what Jackson wanted to do with his existence. He wanted to love someone; not someone; Paisley. He only wanted to love Paisley.

Jackson just couldn't see himself loving anyone else except for Paisley. Everything about her just seemed to be something he liked; the way she talked, the way she walked, the way she was mature and self-sufficient, yet still understanding and caring. There was never going to be another person like that for Jackson. She was the only one for him and Jackson wanted it to stay that way. He would do anything to keep her alive and safe, even if it costed him dearly.

"Calm down Jackson... I'm just sick..." She said softly, seeing the other's immense worry for her condition.

"I worry because... I love you Paisley..." He replied, telling her for the first time that he loved her.

"I love you too Jackson..." She said happily, hugging the male close.
