03 | OLD MEMORIES

"Jason!"

Jason shot up from the bed, his face covered in beads of sweat as his chest heaved. Memories swarmed his head as he tried to calm himself down. His eyes darted from each side of the room before he closed his eyes, his heart slowing down.

He rubbed his face, sighing in the process as he swung his legs off the bed. Bruce's voice kept on haunting him with each living day and memories... oh the horrible memories.

Everyday was a living hell, but he showed emotion differently than most people would. After two years of coming back from the dead, killing criminals is probably the only stress reliever for Jason. He hid himself behind a protective barrier ever since his childhood - the crumbs of a childhood - and ever since he was resurrected by the league, he never let his guard down.

Jason stood up, walking to the empty living room and turned on the police scanner he stole from McGrath awhile back. He continued his path to the bathroom and look at himself at the mirror. His green eyes stared back, reminding him of his days beside batman.

'This is the best day of my life!'

Jason nearly flinched at the memory, his hands going to the sink. His head dropped as his mind had didn't want him to forget about his past.

'"Robin! Stop!" Batman yelled as Jason threw another punch in the criminal's face. Blood was pooling around the drug dealer and the green gloves were now red on the knuckles. Jason was seeing red and couldn't stop.

This douchebag just reminded him of his father and this was justice in his eyes - this has to be done. By his hand.

Before Jason could throw another punch and finish off this piece of crap, a hand grabbed the young boy's - stopping him in his tracks. Jason clenched his jaw, using all of his strength to break out of Batman's grasp but it was all useless.

Batman dragged the boy wonder to the batmobile, silence injected into the air as Jason's green eyes were straight ahead - not breaking the silence. Bruce gripped the wheel tighter, speeding down the streets until he reached the infamous Batcave.

Jason jumped out for the batmobile, storming away from Bruce but stopped once he heard Bruce yell. Actually yell. "Jason!"

He flinched, scared. Bruce felt a ping of guilt but he continued onwards. Jason didn't turn around, but Bruce was quick on his trail. Be grabbed his son by the shoulders and turned him around - making him face him. "What you did back there, that was unacceptable."

"He was a criminal! He deserves to be put down!"

"No! He deserved justice! What happened back there - that wasn't Justice." Bruce explained, not letting go of Jason as he scoffed and pushed his hand off. He wanted to storm off, but Jason was stubborn and he had to have the last word. "I did what I had to do!"

"Beating a man to a pulp? That's what you had to do!" Bruce was raising his voice but Jason didn't stand down. He was a fighter and he wasn't going to back down because he was raising his voice. "Your done, Jason. You are staying with Barbara for the next month."

Jason's eyes were out of his skull. He had the nerve. Jason bit his cheek before yelling back, "And who are you to tell me that!"

Bruce stared him down, his eyes glaring at Jason before responding, "you're lucky that's all that happened to you. I could strip you of the title of Robin and send you right back to the streets!"

A look of hurt, rage, and sadness passes over Jason's face, his eyes glaring daggers into the man's skull - not believing he was saying this to him. Jason's blood boiled inside of him as he finally clenched his fists and Jason finally let all of his emotions lose.

"Then do it! Fucking man up and take the title! Like I would care! I have lived on the streets longer than you could ever last! And I will sure as hell take the streets over than your stupid code of no killing criminals, killing the people who need to be killed! You jut toss them in jail and they get out the instant you turn your back. I could go out and be a better vigilante on the streets without you!"

The air turned tense, rage and a mix of other emotions filled the air. Bruce held his compromise, trying to reason with the boy bit couldn't find himself to do so. Bruce just turned around and spit, "just go, I don't need filth in my house. And I don't need disrespect from him too."

Jason turned his face, his hand reaching a scar on his left hand that his real father. Emotionless, Bruce was somewhat surprised at his own words but he closed his mouth and pressed it in a thin line. The young jason's usually bright green eyes met with his mentor, emotions flowing freely as he inhaled sharply and ran away from him.

They all turn out the same. All abusive. All cause him pain. Physically and mentally.

"Put the money in the goddamn bag!" The robber yelled, his gun pointed in the cashier's face. He put his hands up, eyes wide. Pleas escaped his lips but the robber pulled the hammer back, silencing him.

The two robbers look at one another, both inhaled sharply as the robber put his finger on the trigger, nearly pushing it but something stopped him. A bright red can of peanuts hit the man with the gun on the head, causing him to turn around and rub his head. "Who the hell did that!"

The two men looked around the gas station, trying to find the man who threw the peanuts. Footsteps were heard, until they stopped and a man appeared at the back of the gas station. He wore a red helmet, weapons all around his body, a leather jacket, and a bright red bat symbol on his chest.

"I did." Jason spoke, a smug smirk playing on his lips that was hidden behind the helmet. The helmet's glowing eyes narrowed in to look at the cashier. The cashier looked confused on why he was focusing on him and not the robbers. "If you are going to shoot one of them - now would be the time. I would shoot the one on the left, since he is making all threats."

The two robbers shared a look before looking behind them - looking at the cashier to find him still with his hands up, as confused as them. Jason smirked as he grabbed a can from the self and threw it to the man with gun.

The man dropped as his friend looks shocked. Jason threw his head back in laughter, his hand on his stomach as he spoke, "I still got it! I play serious pretty good."

The robber went for the gun on the floor, but this made Jason flip. He pulled out his gun and shot the bottom of the gun, and nearly the man's hand off. He looked up, horrified. "I didn't say you could go for that."

Jason took a few steps forward until he heard a noise on his right. The door opened, a man appearing as he looks at the scene unfolding. Jason grabbed his other gun and shot the man under his right hand. Jason let out a startled laugh as the other man at gunpoint looked at Jason was disgust.

The dark haired robber took a few steps back but ended up tripping over the peanut can that Jason threw. Jason chuckled as he watched the can roll past him. "That can has done a really good job tonight."

Jason justed aimed his gun and shot the man on the floor and walked over him and to the cashier. Jason grabbed a chocolate bar and held it up. "I heard it was two for one." The cashier didn't say anything as he looked to Jason's left. Jason sighed and looked down as he spoke.

"Y'know, I thought three was a lot but four was just an overkill." He turned to the left to see a gun pointed to his face. Jason clenched his jaw before grabbing the man's hand on the gun, keeping his hand on the hammer and turned the gun to face the fourth robber. He let the hammer go, the man dropped.

The cashier just watched in horror was Jason seemed unfazed by killing three people. He grabbed the chocolate bar and opened it. "Y-you killed them."

Jason sighed as he rolled his eyes and pulled out his gun. He took the clip out and took out a bullet. The cashier examined the bullet before he spoke - "mercy bullets." But he looked at the guy who pulled a gun on him and pointed to him. "Expect him."

Jason looked up at the TV, a news report airing live. Jason sat on the counter whilst he ate the bar. The cashier watched the infamous red hood just sit and eat a chocolate bar.

The news showed a mutant breaking out of Gotham Prison. Jason watched with amusement as the woman was definitely over-powered. She could just look at something metal and it would do her bidding. That is somebody Jason wants on their side. What ever side that is.

"Another mutant has been reported in Gotham, but this one isn't as horrid as the other. Charles Xavier has been seen around town but rumor has it that he will be at Bruce Wayne's Gala tomorrow - or business or pleasure?"
