Chapter Twenty Six
Back on Kamino things had gone somewhat right and then wrong shortly after Alina's departure. It hadn't taken long for the two Jedi knights to notice her disappearance. There wasn't so much as a holonote to offer any explanation. Knowing they couldn't hold the mission for the sake of a single reckless Padawan the two of them split up. They would take turns in between questioning and looking for Alina.
It was Sylvie's turn to do the latter when things went wrong. The good news, Obi-Wan had found evidence to prove that Jango was in fact the attacker. The bad news? Him and Boba were already gone. Any traces of them in their room were gone.
Taun We had revealed that Jango and Boba had just left on an 'emergency trip' Obi-Wan would try and see if he could cut them off. Sylvie was to join him but she had a better idea. One which involved a certain Amoran who just so happened to be a known friend of Jango's. Sylvie broke out of her thoughts when a lean figure with green skin entered the room
"Zafi" she said curtly "Master Kryze" Zafi responded with a raised brow "Taun We says you needed to see me. What for? I thought I'd already been interrogated"
"We found the identity of the assailant. Unfortunately they may have been tipped off and left before we could confront them?" Sylvie didn't detect any rise in Zafi's heart "How tragic. And I'm here because you think I may be of help?" she guessed. The Jedi Knight only nodded "Sad to say but it's like I said earlier, I hardly know most of the other bounty hunters"
"No but I think you know this one. Jango Fett" Sylvie said, the Amoran still refused to show any signs "Well you'll have to give me a while, Jango has had a lot of clients. I don't know half of them and a fair amount like to move around, not many have permanent bases" Zafi said. If Sylvie was honest, she was getting slightly irked by how Zafi gave answers without really giving away anything.
"So if that's all, I have some clones to train" The Amoran moved towards the door. The Jedi knight didn't stop her. There would have been no point in it either way as she got a com from Obi-Wan just as the door slid shut. It solidified that Jango was the one they were looking for and while he may have escaped Obi-Wan had managed to plant a tracker on his ship. It seems Alina might have to wait.

The two maroon fighters dropped out of hyperspace in front of a bright red planet with a ring of rocks. Sylvie spotted a firespray gunship heading right for it. The two Jedi disengaged their fighters, following the gunship. R4 beeped in warning, detecting an object heading toward them. "Seismic charges. Stand by" Obi-Wan said as he and Sylvie flew their fighters under an asteroid which exploded when hit and released a blue shockwave, destroying all nearby asteroids.
Alarms began beeping again in the fighters as a second seismic charge was detected heading toward them. Sylvie took a sharp turn, just barely avoiding the shockwave and rubble. She had lost sight of Obi-Wan's fighter though she knew he couldn't be far away. She could sense that he was still alive.
The gunship was flown into a giant asteroid with a cavity in it large enough to fit their ships. She saw Obi-Wan's fighter moving into position next to her as they made their way through the asteroid, doing their best to avoid the pillars and obstacles. Sylvie knew she wasn't the greatest pilot, she was a mediocre flier and while she had multiple close calls she managed to make her way through the asteroid relatively unharmed, making sure to copy Obi-Wan.
She frowned, her scans showed that the Fetts weren't in front of them. When she tried to spot the using visual scanning she was still unable to detect them until their ship appeared again on her scans from somewhere behind them. Ofcourse by the time that happened it was nearly too late as the gunship fired a barrage of blasts at the two fighters which were minuscule in comparison to the silver and blue ship.
Her fighter shook dangerously as a few shots landed on its hull. Sirens blared inside her headpiece. "Take cover. I'll draw his fire" Obi-Wan said. Sylvie complied wordlessly, her ship wouldn't survive another blast or two and the only reason she'd survived so far was because of the quick reflexes that being a Jedi had given her. She dipped her ship down, hiding herself amongst the asteroids.
She used her scans to keep an eye on Fett and Obi-Wan. A homing missile shot out from the gunship, chasing after the Jedi Knight. The firespray gunship was clearly modified and much more well armed than it looked. Sylvie moved her fighter forward, blasting the missile apart before squeezing into a narrow gap between asteroids with Obi-Wan. Hopefully that explosion would convince Fett that they were dead and it seemed to work as the gunship sped past them into the planet while the two fighters hid side by side on an asteroid.
Sylvie let out a breath she didn't know she was holding in the first place, allowing herself to relax a bit as she silently thanked the force. Sylvie gave a command to her Astromech, R5 to find out which planet the gunship had gone into. There was a momentary pause before the green astromech responded 'Geonosis' Geonosis... If she remembered correctly it was one of the planets who had chosen to join the separatist alliance.
The Geonosians were firm in their belief in the separatists. Had it been the separatists who hired Jango? Even if he was the clone template he was still a bounty hunter and his allegiance lay only with the person who held his credits. She wouldn't be surprised if he accepted a job from the separatists against the republic.
"I think we've waited long enough" Obi-Wan said after a while. "We should be in the clear now" Sylvie agreed. The two Jedi detached their fighters from the asteroid and made their way through the field into the flame coloured planet.
