Chapter Twenty Four
The investigation drew on much longer than they had initially expected. Eventually Alina fell into the routine. Question the bounty hunters with Obi-Wan and Sylvie. Extract information about the clones from the Kaminoans with Obi-Wan and Sylvie. Report to the council. Have a brief period of time to do whatever she liked. Force herself to sleep. Get plagued by nightmares of her mother until she'd wake up in cold sweat. Wander Kamino (With a blanket this time).
Stop to talk to 99 for a while which normally lightened her mood, he reminded her of Jira back home on Tatooine. Then she'd make her way over to the target range, blasting the targets for hours as her fingers numbed. Eventually she'd be joined by Boba. Some part of her knew it was wrong, he could be responsible for the assassin for all she knew. Yet she enjoyed bickering with him.
She enjoyed how easily exasperated he got. Though neither of them had said anything about it a sort of mutual friendship had formed between the two. Or at least she thought it had, it was hard to tell with Boba sometimes. Most times.
This day was no different. She'd helped question another batch of bounty hunters and Kaminoans with Obi-Wan and Sylvie though she wasn't entirely sure why she had to be there, she didn't get to talk much. It was mainly the Jedi knights. She'd skipped the report to wander around Kamino. Practiced her dueling with Obi-Wan. She'd hardly slept and now she was here again, firing blaster bolt after blaster bold but none even came close to landing.
The world would turn black all of a sudden and she'd have to jerk her eyes open but she refused to give in to sleep. If Boba saw her exhaustion he didn't say anything. He didn't say anything about her aim or the way she would sometimes stumble back for no reason or that she was silent this time either. and she was glad for it. She didn't want his sympathy. Not that he seemed like the type to give it anyway.
If it wasn't for the blaster fire she would have forgotten he was there until he snatched her blaster away. Alina frowned, trying to reach for it. "You look like you're going to pass out in the next five seconds" he said, holding it out of her reach. "I'm not going to sleep" she said, trying to grab the blaster again. "Nobody said anything about sleep. Just go sit somewhere before you pass out" Boba said, pointing to one end of the room.
"You don't seem like the type to care about that" She muttered "The last thing I need is another investigation happening if you hurt yourself so" he pointed to the corner again. Alina scowled, looking between where he was pointing and the blasters. She could try grabbing them with the force but that would run the risk of her not being able to concentrate and just embarrassing herself.
"Five minutes" she conceded finally "Five minutes" he agreed. Alina made her way over, slumping down against the wall. One moment she was watching Boba, the next she was asleep.
The scorching sun beat down on her, sand flying into her face. Exhaustion tugged at her, threatening to pull her into a black nothingness. Incoherent shouts rang out from all around. The crack of a whip broke through the air and blood trickled down her face and stained her clothes. Alina pounded against an invisible wall, every bruise, every cut against her mother's skin, she felt it as if it were her own.
Piercing screams rang in her ears, blending in with her own shouts. Suddenly the darkness swallowed everything up leaving behind nothing but deafening silence. A blue lightsaber and its hum broke through the black. The silence broke into multiple screams, men, women and children. Blood splattered all around her and she could just see silhouettes of bodies, big and small.
Alina looked down at her hands, stained with a dark red liquid. The bodies fell into the room piling up more and more until
The black abruptly turned to white as she jerked back awake, trembling. She only faintly registered Boba crouching in front of her. The room was silent with the exception of the sound of her breathing. This nightmare wasn't her usual one. It was different.
So much more different. Was this some sort of sign from the force? To tell her to go after her mother? Why else would she be getting these visions? Then she remembered the blue lightsaber and the blood. Was it a sign telling her to stay put? That there would be bloodshed if she didn't? She closed her eyes, slowing her breathing, calming down as the terror from the nightmare began to subside. She opened them again, glancing up and Boba who was watching her with an unreadable expression.
"Nightmare?" He questioned finally "Something like that" she said softly, hugging her legs close to her chest. "What happened?" He asked. She hesitated, staying silent as Sylvie's words rang loudly in her head. Boba had been nice enough to her (or atleast what she assumed was his version of nice) but she wasn't shaken up enough by her nightmare to tell it to a person who she had known for only a few days.
Force, even Obi-Wan and Sylvie didn't know it all. Picking up on the hint Boba didn't say anything else, simply standing up. As he walked over to where his blaster lay Alina stood up as well, her limbs shook in protest but she used the wall to keep herself steady. She looked up at Boba when he approached her again, holding out a canteen "Water" he explained, noticing her questioning look. "Thanks" She murmured, their fingers brushed lightly as she accepted the canteen.
As she took a few small sips she thought about her nightmare and her mother. It was definitely completely different to her previous nightmares. Was this some sort of sign from the force? Was it telling her to go or to stay put? It couldn't be the latter, why would the force show her these dreams if it didn't want her to act on them? She brought the canteen away from her lips, closing it again as she handed it to Boba with another small 'thanks' she came to a decision.
Message from the force or not she was going to Tatooine and she was going to find her mother, Jedi council and consequences be damned.

Octavia and Lincoln {Ricky Whittle}'s silhouette works great for Alina and Boba. I made a gif but it's too big for Wattpad. Tried lowering the quality but it still didn't work. I'll make another when I'm not feeling lazy.
I meant for this chapter to come out yesterday but instead it came out on May the Fourth which makes it slightly better(?)
So anyway. May the fourth be with you all!
