Chapter 5: The Date

The next night, Y/N was cleaning up when Leah came in.

(A/N Your outfit.)

"Hey, Y/N. You closing tonight?" Leah asked.

"Yeah. My husband and I will be here, but I got it," Y/N said.

"Okay. See ya tomorrow," Leah told her.

"See ya," Y/N waved.

Once she left, Y/N continued cleaning when she heard the door open. She turned to see her husband with a bouquet of flowers. She smiled and turned to him.

"Going adorably old-fashioned on me?" she asked, taking the flowers then smelling them.

"Maybe I am," he answered.

She giggled and hugged his neck, making him wrap his arms around her waist. She then kissed his neck, making him moan a bit.

"Grab a seat. I'll be done in a few," she whispered.

She then left to put the flowers in water then came back with a couple of beers. She handed him one then sat across from him.

"So, how was your day?" she asked.

"Better than yesterday," he said.

"The appointment?" Y/N guessed.

Bucky nodded.

"You lied about the nightmares again?" she continued.

He nodded again.

"She say you can't always rely on me?" Y/N said.

"It's like you were there," Bucky commented.

"Remind me how old you are," she teased.

"106," he said.

"Right. You got me beat since I'm 103," Y/N smirked.

They laughed at that.

"I'm sorry about your appointment," she said.

"Don't worry about it. I mean, I did wanna snap when she said I can't rely on you all the time, but you have been my rock since the day we met," he told her, taking her hand.

Y/N smiled, rubbing her thumb on the back of his knuckles, and said, "You're mine, too. And I don't have a problem with you needing me whenever you're going through something. But sometimes, it feels like you don't want my help."

"I know, and I'm sorry for that. I promise I'll try to be more open," Bucky said.

"That also means you don't need to sleep on the floor in the living room," she smirked.

He chuckled and said, "Deal."

"Now, I wanna beat your butt at Battleships," she said, took a swig of her beer, and went to get the game.

Once she did, she started setting it up.

"I call red," she said.

"What if I want red?" he smirked.

She returned it then held her hand out, ready for a thumb war as she sat down. He took her hand and they began.

"So are you okay after Steve?" Bucky asked genuinely.

"As okay as a woman can be when her brother's gone," Y/N answered.

"I know, but I heard that whenever someone's a little more positive when something tragic happens, it's because they're hiding their true feelings pretty deep," he told her.

She smiled and said, "I promise I'm okay. Though I appreciate the concern."

"Okay. But I get red," Bucky smirked.

She then looked down to see he had indeed won the thumb wrestling.

She giggled and said, "Well played."

Then they started playing Battleships.
