❥katsumi is a petite girl that looks younger for her age due to years of malnutrition during her early developing years and puberty. she's put on some weight after being transferred into her current government group, but is still far too sickly. you could carry her like she weighs nothing and looks like she could be blown away by a particularly strong gust of wind. she stands at about 4'9 and weighs less than 85 pounds (38.5kg).
❥her eyes are often covered by a thin white cloth to stop her powers from going out of control and to prevent others from figuring out that she's an abnormal, as they're a prominent sign that she's not human, not fully at least. they are bright amber, like swirls of lava, and are almost hypnotizing when stared at fully. she thinks they're horrible, but others find them beautiful. either way, they are definitely her most prominent features.
❥her hair is nothing special; wavy black hair that falls to her waist. she usually keeps it down and takes good care of it, giving it that extra shine and volume, but it's quite normal and she likes to keep it that way. she would put it up when it gets too hot but the main reason why she doesn't is she's actually never learned how to braid her hair (which, if she's wearing her blindfold, is the only option).

《personality》
❥katsumi is an easily excitable person. she's been sheltered practically her whole life, and thus has excitement and curiosity for the outside world which mimics that of a child. while she is still considered a child to many, she's come to a point in her life that acting childlike would usually be frowned upon. however, this is the first time in years that she's got to be herself around others without being harshly punished for it, so she tends to be childish because of that as well. katsumi is quite talkative, something that she also often got punished for back when she was still lived in japan. she's happy talking about anything and everything, even things that she can't understand.
❥though living in america has done wonders to undo the trauma she went through while in the hands of the japanese government, katsumi retains many habits from those times. for one, she stays obedient and has trouble acting like herself without the reassurance of the agents around her. she's used to having her every move dictated, so even though a large part of her knows that it's okay to act herself, some part of her is still unsure and needs constant validation. she's a people's pleaser, both by nature and by force. she tends to be a follower and always listens to what other people say even though she knows she is somewhat autonomous and can make her own decisions now. whenever an argument sparks, she goes deathly quiet and remains neutral. or looks to the authority figures to solve it. she is almost never seen upset even when pushed to a breaking point, as she still believes that showing any negative emotion will get her punished or can be used against her.
❥katsumi's story in this run-through is about getting to know herself without government official's breathing down her back waiting for any and every mistake which could warrant punishment. it's about stepping out of her shell and doing things she loves and realizing that she's not going to get hurt because of it. it's about unlearning bad habits and unhealthy coping mechanisms. that is until the murders start happening of course.

《backstory》
❥katsumi's life was neither peaceful nor simple. she was taken in by the japanese government when she was very young, around six years old, and for some reason, she has very little memory of her life before the government had her. they didn't tell her much about her past either, as they found no need for her to know. all she knows is that the government works very closely with her father, and her mother was someone they always spoke about in disgust.
❥life with the government was strict, she was placed into a house with others like her and had a very strict schedule. Wake up, get ready, study, eat lunch, study, then go to bed. there was very little time for any sort of fun, and everyone was miserable. the teachers there were also very strict and punished them severely for any slight mistake. those years were the worst years of her life and they continue to haunt her to this day.
❥she's not sure why she was transferred to the american government for holding, but she thought it was going to be the exact same as what she'd been going through so she wasn't excited. when she finally came to terms with the fact that the american government was much nicer, she was overjoyed. it was like being freed from prison after all these years. she's saddened to think about all the people she left behind that did not get the chance she did, but she's more focused on making up for the childhood she lost to the japanese government.

❥katsumi can create and manipulate foxfire. in japanese folklore, fox fires (kitsunebi) are balls of spectral light or flame that indicate the presence of kitsunes; fox spirits.
❥they are typically harmless and act only as light sources, but when fueled by the users emotions, the fox fires can act like regular balls of fire and cause damage to anything around it.
❥aside from fox fires, katsumi can also create regular fire, but she cannot control it as she does with fox fires. She can only light it or extinguish it. both fires are ignited when her emotions go haywire or through a snap of her fingers, and they can appear anywhere within her line of vision.

❥jinhai is an averagely attractive chinese-american teenager. i say "averagely" because his looks may not be for everyone, but he takes good care of himself and dresses well as well. he has clear skin and bright eyes despite all the nights he's spent staying up for school projects, which just goes to show how well his skin routine (or his genetics) are.
❥he has fluffy black hair which can be seen as messy but in a good way. he keeps it kind of long to frame his face, but still at a respectable length. the front part is long enough to be tied into a ponytail, while the back is cut close to his scalp.
❥he's lean but still soft around the edges. he doesn't have the body of a greek god but isn't overweight either. he has a small beauty mark on the tip of his nose which his s/o likes to boop and has a gorgeous smile but hides it because he's embarrassed about the fanged teeth he never got corrected.

《personality》
❥jinhai has always needed to be more mature for his age. his parents both worked long hours so it was often just him and his grandfather taking care of his three younger siblings. even outside of the house he would often take in younger boys to be a part of his little gang. not only that. jinhai was a hero to the younger kids. he fought off all the "monsters", patched up everyone's cute and bruises, cared for and protected those who were bullied, and was just a generally well behaved, gentle, and incredibly kind kid. he was quite reckless though, and didn't think of the consequences of his actions sometimes and hurt those around him as a result.
❥as he grew older, a few things have shifted in his personality. his gentleness, for sure, is mostly gone now. you would see bits and pieces of it when he's interacting with little kids or his significant other, but it's only for them. he's become more protective and less reckless over the years, but will still kick your ass if you think to hurt the people around him. he flourished when he became an assistant counselor at the camp. it was almost like second nature for him to be commanding in the most respectful and older brotherly manner possible. he loves kids as long as they're not too rowdy or rude and has a way with words when it comes to scolding them or getting them to listen because of his experience when taking care of his younger siblings.

❥forests and nature; it's so different from the city backdrop he's used to that it's quite refreshing. and it also smells like adventure.

❥jinhai comes from a not-so well off family. they're not exactly poor, but they're not rich either. they live a simple life. jinhai's grandfather was a veteran who fought in many wars yet somehow managed to outlive his wife and most of their children. they raised his siblings together and so jinhai was the closest to him. he loved hearing stories about the old days when everything seemed so simple.
❥when he died, jinhai was the most devastated. everyone else was already prepared, but jinhai was somehow convinced he was invincible and would never die. his death broke him but he was able to spring back after a couple of months to keep his legacy.
