Twenty Seven: Kaori's Decisions

A/n: I hope you like my fanfiction! Thank you! So! It's been a long time that I wasn't able to actually get to make this chapter! I hope you like this! Thank you! :)

Miyazono Kaori POV:

Kousei had interviewed me as well like his uncle if he can actually trust me to stand beside him and enter his current life deeper. That's what I believe. He just wanted to make sure that I will be able to actually stay beside him if I push her to become the new 'April' of the organization. He's been in the organization for years now and he's being raised by his uncle to replace him. He said he's fine now that he's in the group but he can't lie to me. He still wanted to escape Eagle Eye Organization. Even so, I know that he had accepted that he can't go back to the world he once was. I am also very convinced that he truly cannot return to the world he once was as he wasn't the innocent and timid boy whom I know years ago. He's so much changed now and I can even see a sliver of innocence he once emanated before.

"Kaori, get behind me," he said to me after a gray-haired man who looked a few years older than him stop in front of us. He's obviously American and his aura was too heavy that made my knees shake. "If you can't stand before that old man, how can I even trust that you can be in the spy organization?"

"I'm sorry," I said as I try to stand beside him. "I was just..."

"Don't worry about it," he said to him as he chuckled. "I heard you speaking in English with her even if both of you are Japanese."

"It's been a long time that I haven't spoken the language," he answered him. "My uncle's Japanese but he talks to me in English. Don't you think that I'm more confident in that language now? I'm becoming just like him. An Asian American."

He nodded in agreement.

Kousei does seem happy to actually meet him.

Who is he?

"Is she your girlfriend, Kousei?" he asked him. "Shouldn't you introduce me to her?"

"I was just about to introduce her to you," he said to him. "You're here because you heard that there's a candidate who will replace April, am I correct?"

"Yes," he said to me. "Is she that person?"

"Yes, she is," he answered him. "She's Kaori Miyazono."

"Good day to you," he said as he gave his hand to me. "I'm Director Ulysses Kennedy Watkins of Central Intelligence Agency."

I was surprised that Kousei knows someone as huge liked him in the organization.

Now, I understand how Kousei really changed. He was surrounded by very formidable people. Since I had chosen to stay beside him, I will be viciously trained to become like him.

"I'm Kaori Miyazono, sir," I introduced myself. "Hi, sir. I'm his girlfriend."

"She's a beautiful woman," he said to him. "If she passes Hiroyuki's interview, she can be our secret agent who can prevent Eagle Eye from becoming a rogue organization."

"Uncle Kuroshi's a good man and with him, we're making sure it goes along its real intention. We're Asians but aren't we still residents of the United States of America, now?" he replied to him. "Don't worry. If Kaori's job is to support me, I hope she does it well."

My cheeks flushed red when I heard his reply. I don't even know if I will be able to actually support him. "I think I have to go now to Seto Hiroyuki."

"Good luck, Kaori," he told me. "Look for him around the casino, okay? I hope you do well when you're with him."

...

I was very nervous while walking around Calypso Casino. It was very strange for someone like me who's from a far-flung area in Japan to walk around seemingly gorgeous people wearing expensive gowns and branded suits who were all playing several card games like Black Jack and Poker. There were also people playing roulettes and other casino games. It hardly made me believe that Kousei lived here for years after his uncle forced him to live here and learn how to gamble. Now, as I see it, he's also a gambler. He wanted to get more money on the slot machine and also, he wanted to talk to me. Maybe that's why he didn't bring me to the larger field where I am looking for Seto Hiroyuki.

"Kaori!" spoke a man behind me. "You look nervous."

At the time I blinked, the man I was looking for was just behind me. He looked so elegant, trendy, and cool while wearing a silver coat and tie. He truly looked like a rich man and he fits right into the casino's atmosphere like Kousei. "You're just looking for me, am I correct? Don't you want to play?"

"I don't—" I stopped saying what I have to say and what's happening right now wasn't a casual talk, am I correct? He's already interviewing me. "I can learn."

"Anything that makes you want to play around the casino?"

"Can I know how to play Poker? I heard Kousei's playing that one."

"Too difficult for someone like you but I will teach it to you, soon," he said to me.

"Kousei played it when he was fifteen years old," I told him. "Didn't you teach him that, as well?"

"That boy? He knew how to play it since he's been watching his father play poker at the mansion. You really don't know Kousei that much, do you?" he chuckled at me. "He won't admit it but he quickly adapted to his uncle's lifestyle after he tried to flee when he was sixteen."

While I was talking to him, it was also at that time that I saw Kousei standing behind a roulette making bets and also, drinking wine among other elegant-looking people. He fits right through the atmosphere here. "Well, maybe I can do roulettes, as well? Kousei looked like he's enjoying that game."

"He's also the best roulette gamer here and are you sure you want to take a chance?"

"My life will be about this lifestyle if I pass through you and begin my life as 'April'."

"Good choice. I hope you win against him."

...

At the time the game stopped at the time I walked in at the roulette's spinning wheel where Kousei was playing, every people around him were once again overwhelmed that the ball landed at the slot where Kousei called it.

"You really are a professional gamer, son," called someone wearing a glimmering red suit. He looked very rich and also, highly respected individual. His eyes were so blue, his hair's kept clean while he has very fair skin as well. What's most enticing was his accent. He's British as I believe so. "I've been playing this game longer than you but ever since you came, I didn't realize that someone better than me will arrive."

"I just watched you play three years ago when my uncle was still too strict to me, Mr. William Gemstone," he said as he received money from the croupier. "I started playing roulette first as you remember when I had first arrived here."

"You went to play against expert poker players after that and you got stuck to it as you always win bigger money. Someone almost killed you when you won so many times until you dried up the money of one of your opponents," Mr. Gemstone replied to him. "You're lucky that you have a lot of bodyguards who threw that man away from here."

"My bodyguards permanently incapacitated him since he can't even pay loans," he said as he placed a lot of money on a huge suitcase. "There's not that much fun to play poker ever since my uncle allowed me to return to formal schooling."

"I thought I will never have to play with you again," he told him. "I hope I can play a different game with you, soon."

"Anyways," he smiled at him. "I'll be leaving as I have already received enough money for today."

He began to walk out as the dealer began to organize things up again and start the game. I told myself that I will play against him but if he doesn't want, I'll respect him.

"Don't you want to play with Kaori?" Seto Hiroyuki asked him. "She's about to play with you."

"I'm still a student," he said to him. "I study at my own pace but I had already promised the university that I will play piano today at the school's theater for the beginning of the theater play season."

"Alright," he said to him. "Make sure you don't disappoint them."

"When did I disappoint them? I can't even remember the times I was afraid to play the piano," he told him. "Don't be too lenient on Kaori, Mr. September. She has to go through a difficult process before I trust her to stand beside me as a member of the Organization."

I was too surprised by what he said after I saw him leave. He still does have two to three bodyguards surrounding him. He's not angry he has those around him now unlike a few months ago when we met again.

"I told you he's different now," he said to me. "Now, would you want to play?"

Even if I felt a bit of heartbreak that he can't seem to trust me to be with him inside the organization, I want to understand him. He saw what the organization could do for years unlike me, after all. He knows what's going on inside while I am just a newbie. I'm a new person entering his cavern. I can't feel angry. He has a point why Seto Hiroyuki needed to make sure that I belong inside the organization.

"Yes, I'll play," I said to him. "I'll make bets."

"Don't feel bad when you don't get the number you called in, okay?" he said to me. "Remember that this is your first time."
