Fourteen: Secrets

A/n: I hope you like this fanfiction! Thank you!

Seto Hiroko POV:

The day after I had met Kousei once again after Kuroshi had given me the freedom to move on my own without any eyes staring back at me, I returned back to his suite in his school's dormitory. It was at that time that I had discovered that it was his uncle who was paying for his university fees and dorm fees. He's basically living under his uncle's supervision and influence.

He happily welcomed me back but also, he warned me before I enter, "My uncle's here and I hope you shut your ears."

"Why?" I asked. "Tell me."

"No need for you to know," he told me. "He's more American, after all."

Kuroshi's mother is half- American and his mother had remarried an American and that was where he had 'Ashworth' as a surname. At the time I had entered his suite, I was able to see him sitting on a black couch talking on the telephone. He was also shouting and screaming while talking to someone on his phone. "What are you talking about? I have done my best to create all of those weapons for the American Army! Those aren't for undeserved soldiers that you're talking about! I won't give it to the FBI if you don't pay whole! I still haven't gotten your payment yet! Before you get the weapons you need for your next huge operation, pay me first!"

Kuroshi immediately gave the phone quickly to one of his servants inside the suite after he was done talking. A warm smile plastered down his lips when he saw us. He took him around his arms and whispered something to Kousei. I wasn't able to hear it but he just agreed with him.

"Been so long that I haven't seen you, Hiroko," he told me. "I'm sure you're enjoying the freedom you have now."

"Was that about a weapons deal, father?" Kousei asked him. "It's one of your legal jobs, right?"

"Yes. It is and you don't need to know more about it," he replied back. "You will be focusing on the upcoming beauty pageant. You're invited to be a judge, am I correct?"

"You told me that you will train me in your world- legal and illegal. When will I know the people who were secretly connected with you? I do only know the people who abducted me long ago," Kousei asked him. "You're not even sharing your jobs with me. How will I know how to act around it if you don't teach me?"

Kuroshi crossed his legs. "You're serious about entering my dangerous world and as deeper you get, you won't be able to get out of here."

"You had always planned it, right?" Kousei told him. "Do you think I can go home to Japan after depriving me to learn the Japanese Language and alphabet system for six and a half years? I won't know how to read complex kanji, now."

"You're right," he chuckled. "I planned to deprive the Arima Family of having a child unless Takahiko finds a better wife and get you to have a half-brother who can replace him."

Kousei's right hand went into a fist. "I'm sure that I hurt their feelings for becoming an Ashworth."

Kuroshi wasn't able to hide his laugh when he said those words and also, at the time he saw me. He knew that I was watching them talk together. "I'm joking, my dear son! You were right after all. I've always wanted you to replace me."

I saw Kousei take a deep breath and excused himself. At the time he stood up and left us in the living room of his suite, Kuroshi stared at me. "I'm sure you're happy to be free now."

"I don't even know what you did to Saki's child to make him agree to be your heir!" I shouted at him. "He's still Takahiko's kid, and you need to understand that. I'm sure he accepted to be an Ashworth because he can't accept what his father did to his mother."

"He told you what my brother told him?" Kuroshi asked me. "Knowing that, are you still against my plans for him?"

"Don't teach him to kill, Kuroshi," I warned him. "That would destroy his whole being."

Kuroshi stood up and drank wine. "I wasn't planning to make him into a syndicate leader but he's influenced by the woman closest to me. I may even marry her soon. Most of all, he's not the boy you know anymore as he's stronger than what he was when you've last seen him. Kousei's my child, now and he's become loyal to me. He's still afraid but I don't need to keep him inside my mansion anymore since he's become obedient to me."

I closed my eyes. I don't know what kind of force he did to Kousei to change him to what he is today, but I hope, when I begin working as his nanny, I will know what he's doing now.

"He's using this room as his office, Hiroko Seto. This is where he meets several important people in his life, especially members of Big Dipper Syndicate." He placed a black universal serial bus or a USB in front of me. "I'm letting you in a secret and I hold many dark secrets of many lawmakers, businessmen, and even the police as my real organization is a shadow business built by the American Government itself. I have the authorization to enter The Pentagon due to my business."

I gulped. "Why are you trusting me to know this, Kuroshi?"

"You are going to be my heir's caretaker, Hiroko. I see it important that you know about this," he told me. "Kousei's an important piece in my life and my half- brother had already learned to accept his son's choices after I had told him about my business' true identity. My brother knows that it was his fault why he lost his son. I've warned him not to tell him about Phoebe Yang but he still said it."

"I know Phoebe Yang," I said. "She's an innocent Chinese Model."

"Chinese Model?" he sniggered. "She's not just a Chinese Model, Hiroko! I know her because she's my rival in Weapon Smuggling. You know that I still have a job and I have a strong protector who's hiding my illegal activities."

My mouth went wide open. "Weapon Smuggling? If that is true, I should tell Takahiko about her! She may put him in danger!"

"You don't need to, Seto- san." Kousei surprised me after he went back in his office. "She was the reason why I am his heir. I will destroy her and her group."

Kousei was already wearing a black suit at that time. It truly looked like he was preparing for a beauty pageant.

"Can I go with you?" I asked him. "Today's my first day, after all."

He wore his glasses on. "You can't go with me. I had already talked to someone else who would be protecting me while I am on my first mission."

"You're still twenty- one years old. I hope you do understand why I wasn't yet teaching you too much in my business," Kuroshi informed him. "I can put you into too much danger."

Kousei gripped his suit tightly. "I can't be a simple pianist forever! I won't be able to fight Phoebe with it."

"You're twenty-one and it means you're old enough to be trained," Kuroshi said to him. "It's good that Cassiopeia trusts you."

"August's at the lobby already, father," he said to him. "She's waiting for me. I have to go."

What was he about to do? What kind of business is he going to?

"Hiroko will be kept oriented in her job," his uncle assured him. "She's going to be safe with me and so, you can go."

"Thank you, father."

Two bodyguards immediately stood behind him and opened the door for him. I folded up my shoulders in so much worry. I wanted to know what's going on but I fear that questioning about it would be a wrong move, especially with the child I want to protect.

Kousei's shoulders were broader, he's taller, and his hair's been very much kept waxed unlike when he was still fourteen years old. He looked more mature now but I know and it's obvious that he's filled with fear.

"I may not want Kousei to be your heir but I can't force him to leave you," I cried out. "It truly seemed you're not forcing him to obey you anymore. Everything is in his own will."
