The Training
Amethio felt a slight tickle on his nose and slowly opened his eyes. He saw that Eevee's fluffy tail had caused the tickle. "Eevee, move your tail," he said, still half asleep, pushing it away from his face and turning over. His gaze briefly fell on the clock hanging on his wall. "Only 12:15. I can sleep a bit longer," he thought absentmindedly and closed his eyes again. "WAIT, ALREADY 12:15!? I'M TOTALLY LATE!!" Amethio suddenly thought, jerking his eyes open. He sat up straight in his bed and saw that Ceruledge was already awake and calmly looking into his eyes. When Amethio looked at Eevee, he noticed that it was also awake and snuggling up to him lovingly. "Why didn't you wake me up?" Amethio asked, embarrassed. Ceruledge just looked at him sympathetically, and Amethio understood what it meant. "I know you meant well, but... never mind," Amethio sighed, annoyed with himself. He was actually grateful because he hadn't gotten much sleep in the past few nights, but somehow he was also a bit embarrassed. Amethio sighed, got up, and got ready. When he was dressed, his gaze fell on the mirror. "Ah, my hair is totally messy!" he exclaimed in dismay and quickly grabbed his comb to fix his hair. When it was finally neat again, Amethio put the comb away and said to Ceruledge and Eevee, "Come on, let's go to the others."
Suddenly, he remembered what he had learned yesterday. He was Lucius's descendant and Liko's cousin. "I hope they won't ask me anything," he pleaded in his head and left the room with Eevee and Ceruledge. As always, Amethio carried Eevee in his arms and went to the meeting room, which, to his surprise, was empty. "Where are they?" he asked himself and went out onto the deck. There was no one there either, but he heard sounds of battle from the wing deck. "They must be up there," he thought and headed to the elevator with his Pokémon.
Upon arriving, Amethio saw that Dot was currently engaged in a battle with Roy. It looked pretty good for her, as Crocalor already looked quite battered. Before Amethio knew it, Crocalor was already defeated. No wonder; water was very effective against fire, after all. Now Liko and Friede joined the two and started talking to them when they suddenly noticed Amethio and his Pokémon. They waved him over. "Good morning, Amethio. Finally awake too," Friede joked humorously as Amethio joined them. He immediately turned red with embarrassment and tried to hide his face behind his hair somehow. "Hey, it was just a joke," Friede clarified when he noticed Amethio's embarrassment. "Pago," said Terapagos, who was in Liko's arms, as Amethio looked at it. It still seemed very confused by everything. Amethio reached out his hand to pet it, and it allowed it. It didn't even growl at him anymore. This brought a small smile to Amethio's face, and he asked, "What are you doing here?" "We're practicing battles," Roy explained to him, "Dot totally beat me." "Hey, do you and Ceruledge also want to battle Charizard and me?" Friede asked encouragingly, looking Amethio determinedly in the eyes. "Sure," Amethio replied with firm determination.
Both got ready, and Liko, Roy, Dot, and Amethio's Eevee stood to the side of the battlefield. Amethio gathered all his thoughts. He had fought against Friede often enough to know what to watch out for with Charizard. "Alright, Charizard, start with Flamethrower," Friede called out his first move, and instantly Charizard spewed hot flames from its mouth. "Ceruledge, use Phantom Force," Amethio quickly shouted, and Ceruledge disappeared into a purple hole, avoiding Flamethrower. It appeared behind Charizard and struck it with its swords on its wing. Charizard stumbled but quickly recovered. "Charizard, fly up and use Air Slash," Friede commanded his Pokémon, and it followed his command. "Dodge it," Amethio shouted to Ceruledge, and it narrowly dodged, "Use Phantom Force." Again, Ceruledge disappeared and reappeared behind Charizard. "Behind you, use Dragon Claw," Friede quickly shouted, and the move hit Ceruledge head-on. Ceruledge landed back on the ground. Its armor briefly glowed and shattered. Its body was briefly enveloped by a red aura, increasing its speed. "Use Psycho Cut," Amethio called out concentrated, and Ceruledge shot several psychic energies from its swords. Charizard dodged some, but several hit it directly. "Shadow Claw," Amethio quickly continued, seizing his opportunity. Ceruledge's swords were enveloped in darkness, and it quickly lunged at Charizard. It hit Charizard, as Ceruledge was so fast that Charizard had no time to dodge. Charizard hit the ground but stood back up. "You've gotten better," Friede called out to Amethio, impressed, as Ceruledge landed back on the ground, "Charizard, use Flamethrower." Amethio didn't respond to his praise but waited for the right moment. Just before Flamethrower hit Ceruledge, it dodged and quickly approached Charizard. When it stood right in front of Charizard, Amethio called out: "Shadow Claw." Ceruledge's swords were once again enveloped in darkness, and it severely injured Charizard's wing. "One more move, and it's defeated," Amethio thought, relieved and determined, "Ceruledge-..." "Charizard, ready to take it a step further?" Friede interrupted Amethio, holding up his Tera Orb.
The Tera energy gathered in it, and Friede threw it at Charizard. Charizard was encased in a glowing crystal, which shortly after shattered, revealing the terastalized Charizard, now of the Dark type. The sky darkened, and Amethio looked at Charizard fearfully: "Damn it, I don't stand a chance against Dark type." "Come on, Amethio, it's your turn," Friede urged him. As Amethio didn't move, Ceruledge looked at him determinedly, and Amethio took a deep breath. He also pulled out his Tera Orb and called: "I will cut my own path forward." He threw it at Ceruledge, and the same thing happened as with Charizard. Ceruledge was now of the Ghost Teratype, and Amethio commanded it: "Use Phantom Force." Ceruledge disappeared and reappeared behind Charizard, hitting it but also being hit by Charizard's Tera Blast, which Friede called out shortly after Amethio. Ceruledge was thrown against the protective wall of the wing deck and could only get back up with great effort.
"Damn it. The Dark type is very effective against the Ghost type. I have no choice. I have to take a risk," Amethio thought anxiously and called out to Ceruledge resolutely: "Ceruledge, use Bitter Blade." Ceruledge immediately ignited its swords with bright purple flames and rushed towards Charizard at high speed. "Charizard, Tera Blast," Friede called out resolutely to his partner. Both moves collided, creating a huge dust cloud, which made it impossible for Amethio to see what had happened. He shielded his face with his arm as the dust cloud approached him. When it finally settled, Amethio saw both Charizard and Ceruledge lying defeated on the ground. "So somehow my plan worked, but also somehow not," Amethio admitted to himself and called Ceruledge back into its Poké Ball, "Thank you, Ceruledge." Friede came over to him and said, "You've gotten better. Next time you might be able to completely defeat us," he praised him. Amethio looked at Friede somewhat puzzled, but then assumed it must have been a compliment and gave him a determined look.
Liko, Roy, Dot, and Eevee came running over, and Eevee, of course, immediately jumped back onto Amethio's head, causing him to stumble but catch himself. "Eevee," he scolded with mild sternness and took it off his head. "You were incredible," Roy exclaimed enthusiastically. "You and Ceruledge make a great team," Friede said to Amethio, which brought a smile to his face. Amethio looked at Liko, and she nodded in agreement.
Suddenly, Eevee jumped out of his arms and stood resolutely in front of Amethio. "Eevee, Eevee," the little one said, and Amethio looked at it only in confusion. "Looks like Eevee wants to battle too," Friede observed and looked at Amethio. "You... want to battle too?" Amethio asked Eevee in astonishment. It nodded its head energetically and took a battle stance. "Floragato and I could battle you and Eevee," Liko offered with a friendly smile. Amethio agreed, and Liko got ready. "Wait, what moves does Eevee even know?" Rory interjected. "I think Quick Attack, Baby-Doll Eyes, and Swift," Amethio listed Eevee's previously seen moves. "Are you ready?" Liko asked, and Amethio nodded. "Floragato, use Magical Leaf," Liko called, and Floragato created a wild storm of sharp-edged leaves that rushed towards Eevee. "Eevee, dodge it with Quick Attack," Amethio shouted to the little one. Eevee dodged the leaves with quick movements and now stood directly in front of Floragato. "Eevee, Swift," Amethio called out determinedly, but Eevee had other plans. It created a Shadow Ball that hit Floragato head-on. Floragato staggered a few steps back but quickly recovered. "So it can use Shadow Ball too," Amethio muttered in realization. "Floragato, try Magical Leaf again," Liko tried again. "Use Baby-Doll Eyes," Amethio quickly said to Eevee. Eevee gave Floragato big eyes, lowering its attack, and it wasn't as heavily injured by the leaf storm. "Swift," he called out to Eevee, and it created stars with its tail and fired them at Floragato. "Acrobatics," Liko reacted quickly, and Floragato swiftly dodged. It now stood behind Eevee and attacked it from there with its paw, causing Eevee to be thrown against the protective barrier of the wing deck. "Eevee!" Amethio shouted in concern as he saw Eevee lying defeated and injured near the edge, and quickly ran to it. He knelt down to Eevee and gently picked it up in his arms. Eevee had many scratches, and Amethio gently petted its head, causing it to open its eyes slightly and smile at Amethio before closing them again. "Amethio, is Eevee okay? Floragato and I didn't mean to hurt it," Liko said worriedly as she knelt beside Amethio. "It's alright. That's just how battles are," he masked his concern for Eevee and stood up. "You can have your Pokémon treated by Mollie," Friede explained to Amethio as he came over with Roy and Dot to him and Liko. Amethio nodded slightly and followed Friede's advice.
He had his Pokémon treated, and when Ceruledge and Eevee were healthy again, he sat with them in the beautiful, quiet spot he had found the day before yesterday and looked out at the sea. Lost in thought, he took out the picture of his mother from his pocket. "Everything was so beautiful back then," he thought sadly and didn't notice that Liko had joined him with her Pokémon. "You have her eyes," Liko said softly, looking at Amethio. Only then did he notice her and shyly asked, "What was she like when she lived with you?" "She was a very loving person. She always took care of me when my parents couldn't. We played together, cooked, and did so many other things," Liko said happily, noticing Amethio's sad expression. Gently, she put her arm around his shoulder, and Eevee also cuddled up to him. They were silent for a while, and then Amethio whispered, "Even though I can't remember her well, I miss her a lot." "Me too," Liko agreed.
Amethio focused again on the roaring sea they were flying over, and Liko looked at his Eevee, noticing, "It has a scar on its left eye just like you. Do you think that's a coincidence?" Amethio looked at Eevee in confusion and stroked its head, which Eevee enjoyed very much. "I hadn't thought about that yet. I just know it was also rejected by those it trusted," Amethio said with sadness in his eyes. "I think it was fate that you met," Liko added with a smile, and Eevee affirmed her statement with a confident 'Eevee.' "I kind of like that thought. Somehow, it was just like when I met Ceruledge when it was still a Charcadet," Amethio said unconsciously aloud. He looked at Ceruledge, who nodded slightly in agreement.
"Where are we flying to?" Amethio asked, turning his gaze back to the sea. "To Johto. To an archipelago of islands. Entei is said to have been sighted there. Friede will explain the plan to us again," Liko explained. Suddenly, a familiar pain shot through Amethio's body, and everything blurred before his eyes. He could see a group of islands. Suddenly, there was a loud noise, and a new island emerged from the sea. And on it stood Entei, Lucius's Pokémon. Amethio could feel Entei's piercing gaze, even though he knew he wasn't really there. In a fraction of a second, everything blurred again, and he was back in reality, looking into Liko's concerned eyes. "Another vision?" she asked worriedly. Amethio just nodded briefly and then stood up. He extended his hand to Liko and said with determination in his eyes, "I think we'll find Entei there." Liko looked at him confused at first, then understood, took his hand, and stood up. "Together?" she asked Amethio encouragingly. "Together," Amethio agreed.
"Hey, here you are. We've been looking for you. Come on, there's lunch, and I'm starving," Roy complained behind them after finding them with Dot. Liko and Dot laughed, and even Amethio managed a smile. "We're coming," Liko called and went with Amethio and his Pokémon to Dot and Roy.
