Amethio's Snow-White Legacy

"So please explain it to me. Why couldn't you do the shopping?" Friede asked with a raised eyebrow after Liko, Dot, and Amethio confessed to the other Rising Volt Tacklers that they hadn't bought the groceries. "Well... we passed a clothing store and tried on some things there..." Liko began hesitantly, as Amethio quickly took over for her: "Ceruledge and I went to a cafe because fashion isn't really our thing, and we wanted to wait there. But then suddenly Hamber, Gibeon's butler, showed up and spoke to me." "WHAT?! You didn't tell us about that," Liko interjected, both shocked and accusatory. "Yes, because I was afraid that if we stayed there too long, the Explorers would set another trap for us. And we all know how it turned out last time," Amethio explained emotionlessly and automatically grabbed his right wrist when he mentioned 'trap.' "Uh, of course we remember that! After all, you almost bled to death!" Liko exclaimed, extremely worried.

"What did he say to you?" Friede asked seriously. "He asked how I was doing, since that damn idiot named Spinel told him that I was injured and that he wanted to help me, but I attacked him!!" Amethio began his explanation angrily, clenching his fists, but immediately felt the throbbing pain in his right wrist. He hissed briefly and then immediately held his wrist tightly. "Amethio, calm down. Your wrist," Mollie warned him, and Sylveon wrapped her feelers around Amethio's arm to calm him down. As he felt Sylveon's soothing waves, he took a deep breath and slowly let go of his wrist.

"Anyway, he seemed pretty drunk to me, in the way he spoke and behaved. So I thought it was the perfect opportunity to ask him about Rakurium," Amethio continued matter-of-factly. "And? What did he say?" Friede asked hopefully. "He explained to me that when Gibeon, as Rystal also told us, fell into an abyss, Rakurium saved his life. And he was able to live over a hundred years, so he is still alive today. However, the effect wears off after a while, so he needs it again now," Amethio recounted what Hamber had told him. "So that's why it's also called Eternal Blessing. Because it gives one the ability to live indefinitely," Friede concluded, "But did he also mention why Pokémon become wild and uncontrollable because of it?" "No, but I think they become vicious because the Rakurium drains their energy," Amethio explained his hypothesis. "That's cruel," Liko said, intimidated. "Yes, it is," Dot agreed. "Furthermore, it makes humans insane and reckless," Amethio added with a serious look. "What do you mean by that?" Orla asked, confused. "Rystal told us that Gibeon wanted more and more of the Rakurium without paying attention to the consequences. The Rakurium made him addicted and changed his nature for the worse. He... was nice to Lucius and Rystal before. I think..." Amethio explained, saying the last part a bit quieter.

Liko placed her hand on her chin and seemed to be thinking when Friede suddenly asked, "What's wrong, Liko? What are you thinking about?" "Well, Amethio and I had the idea that maybe some of the Rakurium that Spinel gave to his Umbreon during the attack and Amethio's injury might have transferred to his eye, and now he has these visions. Because he always sees a pink mist with the visions, and Rakurium creates that as well. That's why his eye might be pink too. But I wonder why it doesn't have the same effect on Amethio as it does on his grandfather," Liko mused, looking into the surprised eyes of the others. "So, could it be that Amethio has Rakurium in his eye?" Roy asked, shocked. "It looks that way," Friede murmured, "It might have a different effect on him because he didn't come into direct contact with it, only in his eye. Plus, he wasn't exposed to the Rakurium mist for very long." Amethio hung his head. So there was probably really Rakurium in his eye. But how were they supposed to get it out? "My life will probably never be the same again," Amethio thought sadly, blinking away his rising tears quickly.

Suddenly, a loud roar was heard above their heads, and everyone looked up in amazement. "Rayquaza," Roy said excitedly, as Terapagos energetically cried, "Pago, Pago." Rayquaza flew down to them so that Terapagos could climb onto its head. Happily, Rayquaza rose back into the air and flew around wildly in circles a few times. "Apparently, Rayquaza is very impatient. But it's right. We should get going," Friede joked humorously, as Murdock interjected, "Um, Friede, didn't you forget something? The groceries?" "Oh yes, that's right," Friede remembered, looking at Liko, Dot, and Amethio. Amethio shyly hid behind his black-silver hair as Mollie chimed in, "I think what we have in supplies will be enough. We should follow Rayquaza now before it flies to Rakua without us," Mollie said with a mischievous smile, pointing to the impatient Rayquaza. "Okay, let's go," Friede agreed and made his way to the control room with Captain Pikachu.

Relieved that they hadn't gotten into too much trouble, Amethio left the others and went to his room with his Pokémon. Unaware of anything, Amethio opened the door to his room and immediately froze. His eyes widened as he saw the box with his childhood photos on the floor. On it lay a note with an opened letter next to it. "What... does this mean? I... said that I didn't want the photos," Amethio stuttered with a shaky and uncertain voice, while Sylveon grabbed him by the wrist and pulled him towards the box. Ceruledge also pushed him a bit from behind towards the box. "STOP IT! I SAID THAT I DIDN'T WANT THESE DAMN PHOTOS! DOES EVERYONE WANT TO REMIND ME OF MY DAMN PAST?" Amethio shouted, clenching his fists, and his body trembled with suppressed anger and despair. He freed his wrist from Sylveon's feelers and quickly left the room, knowing that his Pokémon didn't deserve to be yelled at like that by him, and he didn't want to look into their hurt eyes.

He hurriedly crossed the hallway with many doors but didn't go out onto the deck as usual. Instead, he went down a ramp to a lower level and found himself in a small storage room with a few boxes. With a desperate look, he sank into a dark corner, hidden behind some crates. The tears he had been holding back since his arrival on the airship now flowed uncontrollably. Each breath hurt as if his heart were being crushed by constant pressure. He felt his cheeks getting wetter and buried his face in his hands. "Why? Why have I been like this to my Pokémon? They are not to blame for my wretched life. They were the ones who helped me stand tall," Amethio wept bitterly. "I shouldn't have yelled at them. But it just hurts so much. My grandfather and father hate me. Spinel is constantly trying to kill me for some reason I don't know. I'm carrying a dangerous substance in my eye and having these cursed visions because of it. But the worst part is that my mother isn't with me. I should have run away when I was old enough and not obeyed my grandfather's orders. I should have been with my mother, protecting her. Spinel is right. I'm just pathetic." He sank deeper into sorrow and regret for everything he had done wrong, shedding more and more tears, when Amethio suddenly heard a soft voice saying, "Amethio, my darling, stop doubting yourself. You are a wonderful person, and my little darling." With tears streaming down his cheeks, Amethio suddenly felt a comforting presence. Before his eyes, he saw his mother, gently smiling and looking at him lovingly. She was on a green meadow, gently stroking an Alolan Ninetales' back. "Believe in yourself, I know you have a good heart. I am proud of you and love you infinitely. Please never forget that," she said softly, and the snow-white Alolan Ninetales also let out a soft 'Nine.' Then his mother disappeared again before Amethio's eyes, leaving him alone in the dark corner.

"Oh, mom, if only it were that simple," he murmured sadly, but noticed that he had stopped crying. "Did mom have an Alolan Ninetales, or why was one in this vision?" Amethio wondered as he calmed down a bit. "I should go to my Pokémon and apologize to them." Carefully, Amethio stood up and left the small storage room via the ramp. He walked slowly to his room, afraid of how his Pokémon would react when he apologized to them. Hesitantly, he stood in front of the door for a few minutes before opening it shyly. As Amethio entered, he saw Sylveon and Ceruledge immediately raise their heads and look at him uncertainly. "I'm sorry for yelling at you earlier. I was just... a bit desperate. I... miss my mother so much and wished she could be here to meet you," Amethio admitted brokenly, before feeling Sylveon gently but firmly tugging at his left arm, causing him to lose his balance and fall to the ground. "I guess I deserved that," Amethio said with a smile, looking into the mischievous eyes of Sylveon and Ceruledge before they lovingly snuggled up to him. "Thank you for forgiving me," Amethio thanked them with tears of joy in his eyes and hugged his Pokémon tightly.

As they broke the embrace, Sylveon handed him the note and letter that had been on the box. Hesitantly, Amethio took both from Sylveon and read the note first. "Amethio, I'm sorry that the photos made you so sad, but Luna wanted you to have them. She mentioned this and some other things in the letter I gave you. I hope you won't be too mad at me for bringing the photos anyway. Best regards, your Aunt Lucca," Amethio read aloud to his Pokémon before thinking, "No, I'm not mad at my aunt. I just need to come to terms with all of this slowly." He then reached for the letter and read it aloud as well: "Dear Amethio, my little darling, if you're reading this letter, something has happened to me. I want you to have the pictures of us and always remember the good times and not your sorrow. I also want to warn you about your grandfather. He has bad intentions. Take good care of yourself, my little darling. I love you and want to entrust you with something. My Pokémon Ninetales. It has always accompanied me. You may not remember it, but it took good care of you when you were little. It doesn't come out of its ball for many strangers, so it may rarely show itself to you, but please take good care of it. Your mother."

Amethio's eyes widened with every word as he realized that the Alolan Ninetales in the vision must have belonged to his mother. A Pokéball rolled out of the envelope and fell right into Amethio's hand. It automatically enlarged and opened. A snow-white Ninetales, emitting a pleasant coldness, stood before Amethio and looked at him with a gentle gaze. "Nine... Ninetales," Amethio stammered in disbelief, reaching out to it. He felt the soothing coldness of Ninetales' fur, calming his palms, while the gentle 'Nine' echoed reassuringly in his ears. After a few silent minutes, Ninetales withdrew its head and disappeared back into its Pokéball. Ceruledge and Sylveon were speechless with amazement and just stared awkwardly at Amethio. "That's mom's Pokémon. And she entrusted it to me. I promise I'll take care of it," Amethio said into the empty air before Sylveon lovingly snuggled up to him, and he gently scratched its head. He also placed a hand on Ceruledge's shoulder, and it gently nudged him with its head.

Suddenly, Amethio's Rotom Phone began ringing and emerged from his pocket. "Amethio, come to the control room, quickly," Liko said excitedly as he answered. "Okay, I'm coming," he replied, puzzled, before hanging up and standing up. "Are you coming?" he asked his Pokémon. "Sylveon," Sylveon responded, and Ceruledge also indicated: "Ceru." He put Ninetales' Pokéball away, and they quickly made their way to the control room, where Liko, Roy, Dot, and Friede were already waiting for him. "Look, Kumuri Town. I'm sure Rakua is somewhere nearby," Liko called out to him cheerfully. "But isn't that on old world maps? Rakua is supposed to be uncharted," Amethio recalled, confused. "Yes, but Rayquaza didn't lead us here for nothing. I'm sure we'll find Rakua," Liko said confidently. "I somehow feel like we're in the right place," Amethio thought with a hint of joy in his eyes as they landed on an open grassy area. No, he didn't just feel like they were in the right place. He knew it. Something inside him told him so. He just didn't know what it was yet.
