6. THE FIRST EXCHANGE

Ian's face glowed up, "Thank you, Samuel!" It was comical to see his features morphing from happiness to sadness within a span of milliseconds.

He clapped his hands twice and went to a dressing table to open a drawer. "Tell me what you want? We bought all of these yesterday." He displayed various make-up products their club had shopped for the previous day. "We have some extra lipsticks, brushes, foundations, nail arts and even wigs. You can take any one."

Sam scratched his head as he looked down at the products he could hardly tell apart. The wigs were practically useless to him and the nails looked scary. Why would anyone even wear those?

Were the lipsticks all different shades? The ones that read baby pink, pastel pink and barbie pink looked the same to him.

He didn't know what he was supposed to do with any of the products. He guessed lip colours were the safest choice. His mom could use one. "Anything that is not too bright." He suggested and left the decision to Ian.

The boy with spring-themed make-up pondered with taps on his chin and he got an idea. He rummaged the area till he found the perfect exchange for Sam.

"Here, a lip balm."

Sam again opened his mouth to reject.

"Don't worry, it's not coloured or sticky," Ian cut him off, "And it goes unnoticed when applied. Not to mention, it's organic." He winked, placing a hand on his hip and the other offering the lip balm after waving it. He looked like a model from an advertisement. He was sweet, beautiful and convincing. Sam thought he should really give that career a try.

Hmm, it looked like there were a lot of positive factors in Ian. He would make a good partner. Though a bit too extroverted for Sam, Ian was a good match.

"Even my boyfriend uses it," Ian added, shattering Sam's daydreams.

Oh well, it wasn't like he was heartbroken or anything.

"Thank you so much for helping me out," the sparkly boy smiled. "You are a fun guy."

Sam nodded, accepting the exchange. "Ian," he called the boy. Ian perked up at his name. "That eyeshadow is bomb," Sam smirked, before leaving a blushing Ian behind.

"Thank you!" He heard Ian say enthusiastically as he walked away. "Let's hang out sometimes."

Sam nodded shortly.

Well, looks like Ian was not the fated one.

Sam continued on his way. He examined the tube in his hand. Strawberry flavoured lip balm, it read. Sam hated strawberries but he couldn't reject Ian twice. God no! He didn't have the heart to.

Didn't matter anyway. He was going to give it away in another exchange. If not, his mom could use it. She had always been keen on trying different products.

Okay, onto the next exchange.

Despite not believing and being suspicious of the entire thing in the beginning, Sam now hoped that this would continue. He would like to see who he meets next and maybe, just maybe, fate would play its game and bless him with a potential boyfriend at the end of the day.

But he didn't have to wait for long because someone was already making way to him.
